How to Simulate Hair and Fur in blender in 10 min
In this video I will show you how to simulate hair and fur created with the geometry nodes in blender for free. This workflow doesn't take long and can be tailored to match your computing capacity.
Custom Node Trees:

Python Script and Asset file:
blenderism.gumroad.com/l/Blender_Hair_and_Fur_Tutorial_Assets
(If the link doesn't appear just type: blender hair and fur tutorial blenderism gumroad)
Note: You can also simulate each hair individually by creating the proxy with the interpolation node enabled, it will just take a very long time to simulate without greater results. It can work if you want to simulate individual strands of hair but I wouldn't recommend it for fur simulations.
You can also rig the hair using the usual bones and weight painting. This can be used for stylized hair or when more control over the movement is needed.

Blender VFX: How I Brought My Friend into Space
In this video I will show you how to tackle VFX in Blender. I used this workflow for my space film but there are techniques you can use for any VFX shot. I used Blender as my primary software and did the color grade in Davinci Resolve. This is a low budget workflow. I filmed everything in my basement and then tracked and composited my friend into the CG realm. Watch the short film here: th-cam....
Soviet Spacesuit in Blender | Timelapse
I modeled the Spacesuit of Yuri Gagarin from scratch for my last short. Watch the short film here: th-cam.com/video/JyWh4Q51YJs/w-d-xo.html This is the first time I made a character in Blender, I usually only make objects.
Blender VFX Short about the First Man in Space
On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to fly into space. Their flight, which took place 39 years after the revolution, brings the Bolshevik victory into the cosmic realm. This short was made in Blender and color graded in Davinci Resolve. All of the models were made by me. They will all be available to download for free very soon. Tutorials are also in the making. Thanks for wa...
Lost Astronaut | Blender Animated Short

Lost Astronaut (original) | Blender Short Film

For the Remastered Version: th-cam.com/video/tde3MwtPDCs/w-d-xo.html An astronaut is somewhere without knowing why or how he got there. After years of searching he finally found a way to escape. Then he realized, he is alone on an alien spaceship without any way home. The majority of the Character Animations were made on mixamo I modeled everything on my own except the Astronaut and parts of th...
That's a work around and a lot of work. Hope they bring dynamics options sooner!
how to animate the new hair asset of empty hair
I don't quite understand what you mean
Where is the link to free download? Very good job btw
Thank you. Currently there is no link for download because I used some Quixel Textures and don't have the rights to them. I'll make sure to upload the model to Gumroad in the next days (I'll comment here again when I uploaded it and you will be able to go to the link in the video)
wtf that is a Friend forever, what he do for his Friend
nice tutorial but would love to see it in normal speed
Thanks. The entire process at normal speed is 20 hours long sadly
May I know how you can scale a rigged and animated character with hair?
I am not sure what you mean exactly but If you move the rig (and probably scale it too) the rest will work as before. You cant move the Character tho because that would create problems with the rig. The hair should stay normal, if it doesn't work try applying the scale of the rig.
That’s nice but how to freeze a hair frame
Thanks. To freeze a hair frame you have to go into the modifier tab and then apply it at the frame you want to freeze. It is a destructive workflow so you will loose the simulation with that process.
Good job. I appreciate you explaining why you sid stuff you did
Thanks
why that python script, you could just click : select ---) endpoints ---) contr and +, untill everything is selected but the root ---) contr i. ?
Thank you for the comment. Certainly this is the fastest way to select the roots of the vectors, but I have to select the roots of the proxy which consists of vertices, meaning that the endpoint selection feature doesn't work anymore. Sadly I didn't find any way to copy the selection from the vectors to the vertices, this is why I had to code the script. If you find a better way please let me know because using the script is a bit clunky.
@@leomartinch that explains it. But I also fell as if there has been a "select roots" feature in Blender but it isn´t there anymore or it never was, I dont know. My version also just works if every hair does have the same vertexcount. Great video anyways!
@@ZappelCreations Ok good to know. Thanks
Thank you for the tutorial! I am curious about how can I simulate fur from .abc cache I have static mesh with grooming and I need to deform + simulatr fur to the animated cache. Can I do it in Blender? Thank you in advance!
I have never worked with .abc files but the way you describe it, it should work. If you want you can send me the file via the email in the bio.
Can u give ur Instagram plz
I don't have an instagram
Thank you to share your workflow. +1 sub and like
Thanks for the sub!
Amazing tutorial and ressource, the python script is a lifesaver
Thank you very much
0:43 - 0:45 how did you change the angle of that bend ?
I selected the point that lays on the 45° angle and snapped the pivot point to it (select point in edit mode , then shift + s and select "cursor to selected"). Now you have to change the pivot point to pivot around the 3D cursor. Then I enabled proportional editing by pressing "O". Then I selected the circle that is on the 45° angle (alt + left click) and scaled it on the Z and X axis (after pressing "S" to scale press shift + Y to only scale on the Z and X axis). You can change the radius of the proportional editing by moving the mouse wheel. This is maybe not the best way to do it but I haven't found a better way.
Thank you!!!
Great tutorial . Thanks !
Thank you
thank you for tips!
please make short tut how u projected animated video to a headmesh! plz!
In this workflow I didn't project the footage on a 3D mesh. I used a plane to project my footage onto but I'll do a video, no problem
Thanks
good work ! some reflections on the helmet glass would be nice.
Thank you, I couldn't find a way to get realistic reflections on the helmet, glass is still something I don't really understand. Do you have any advice?
For still renders, you can just use photshop with 3d objects from envato element for compositing.
Ok Thank you, I will try this out in my next project (I'm working on a new workflow, new video should come out pretty soon)
@@leomartinch even with stable diffusion and control net, you can achieve these results and many more variations. But anyway 3d has its advantage and you can do precise work.
I really have to try some things out with AI, thanks for the advice
Amazing
Thank you very much
@@leomartinch welcome bro keep it up
