How do other people in the neighbourhood feel about the horses? Seems like people drive slowly and don’t try to scare them away. Is there a poop patrol that deals will errant leavings on the road? Or does it just get driven over and washed away by rain? Are there laws protecting the horses? Haha, I have so many questions.

From what I know, horses do not like to eat dry crispy grass. But they will if there is nothing else. Probably the horse was aiming to eat any seeds still left on the dried plant as that would have more nutrients that the straw. When you looked over the fence, you can see the buckskin pull up a plant and shake dirt off the roots. Again, this is a way to find the most nutrients possible. Since it is so dry there, most grasses will go dormant and so the roots is where any extra sugars are stored until conditions get better for growing. Those are some of the tamest wild horses I have seen on TH-cam. They definitely are looking for a tasty snack. Otherwise they look like they are in great condition. I envy you your visitors. Please put off fixing your fence to we can see them again!

Why didn't you get them some food?

I would put a couple of bars high up across your broken fence and put an old bath from a reclaim yard under the bars and fill it with water for them. You really dont want them chewing up yr garden but watercwould be appreciated.

I would definitely find a way to provide a water source. Love horses 🐎 🐎🐎🐎. Might also put out some alfalfa cubes, and maybe some sweet feed for the birds of course.

What you need to do is build yourself a little cement pond little 4 ft x 4 ft 2 ft deep in fill it up with water every morning and every evening that way they always have water in that desert go the extra mile throw bags of carrots out there

Feeding them would put them at risk of wandering more often into residential areas where they’d be amongst traffic.
