[INTERVIEW] Rick Wilkes with Susan Birch, The Health Detective - Emotional freedom techniques (EFT)
Today I talked with Rick Wilkes, from Thriving Now, about the use of emotional freedom techniques (EFT) to help us recover from a variety of psychological and physical issues, including pain, anxiety, phobias and weight control.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of psychological acupressure based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments but without the invasiveness of needles.
In addition to explaining EFT, we go deep into how to use this powerful technique to shift our engrained thought patterns and behaviour. Often, we desire to make a change, and we genuinely believe we want to do this, but then we sabotage ourselves for various reasons. Rick takes us through some setup options; these begin with the statement “Even though I feel” and different closing options depending on the individual goals.
I hope you find this video helpful. There are many different techniques for mastering our thoughts and regulating our emotions. This one suits me and I find it very useful. We hope you enjoy this podcast and would love to hear your experiences.

I’m ok with vegetarian “propaganda,” ethically speaking. Animals are sentient beings who don’t deserve to suffer. You can be lean and healthy on a plant based diet. You can be lean and healthy on many eating plans, but animals are being needlessly tortured.

Do you discuss why so many women hate their bodies? Society has told us we need to look and be a certain way-thin, wealthy, married and mothers. Society is not very accepting of anyone who is outside that box. What about the millions of women who have these detrimental mind sets due to trauma on their backgrounds? I find your work to be on the right path. There are so many damaged people on this earth. People are lonely, disconnected, financially strapped. Our world does not support true mental health. It’s truly frightening. We’re all on a treadmill and the 1% wants to keep it that way. I worked with a nutritionist many years ago and I learned a lot. I got healthier. This particular practitioner was very controlling and told me I couldn’t hack it if I needed a salad dressing that was more than tahini and water. I ended up feeling like a total loser and it had hung with me for 20years. I had dysphasia and ended up having my gall bladder out and she told me I did not want to truly be healthy if I didn’t purée my fish and drink it like a smoothie. I don’t know about you, but that is pretty disgusting sounding. I like a lot of what you’re saying but think it needs to go deeper. What about lack of support systems, lack of family, truly stressful lives? We can’t do this in a vacuum. I believe nutrition is key to good health along with great mental health. What do we do in the meantime, which could take years, as we learn to love ourselves? You said something that was worrisome: someone who is in their zone of peak health will have a good liking bodies. What exactly is “good looking”? How about almoat every example of beauty out there is thin thin thin. This destroys people’s self esteem. “I don’t look like that so I am a loser”. This applies to women and men. It’s quite destructive. This process is healing can take a lifetime. I am an emotional eater and have finally gotten tk the point that I know eating certain things make me feel worse. I eat them fsr less than I used to. Every once in a while I eat them. I regret it and also enjoy it. I am clear about the price I will pay. It’s not ideal but I am Not deluding myself. I think it’s simple but also complicated. I do think you’re doing good work.

This is such an important topic. The sound when Marcel talks is rather muffled. I am finding it hard to hear clearly. Susan however is very clear. From Australia so am used to the accent, so not that. Thank you Marcel for this vital topic. My daughter experienced mould infection when breastfeeding got from the breast pump in maternity hospital. She has had a very bad time. Though baby managed without problem. But He now reacts to mould though. Seems to me that once a victim, It is really hard to overcome it. In my family some who have been affected continue to be susceptible for ever. Ghastly thing.

Thank you for the important information in this excellent podcast! This is the kind of science we physicians are NEVER exposed to in medical school. We’re mostly taught which drugs to prescribe for the chronic diseases our lifestyles (and in particular our dietary patterns) are causing. This flawed approach NEVER makes our patients healthy, just a tiny bit less sick.

This is just excellent from you both... I often come back and relisten. Thank you for the passion and clear expertise - for years! Many researchers in social science, women's health, although shockingly guarded on progress there, and within the hypermobility communities are finally finding neurophysiologial and hormonal environment reasons for some of these performance differences and are beginning to back you up. I wouod love to see you both with Dr. Mary Claire Haver! You were always on it, Lyle!🙏

Dr MERCOLA CENSORED THIS ON HIS FORUM! He recently had an article about vit D with the typical advice. Get the 25D test, take around 5,000 i.u. daily, people with comorbidities especially need to supplement because of their 25D being very low, and get out in the sun around noon with little clothing on, etc. On his forum I posted what Jim Stephenson says about all this, and my comment got deleted and I've been temporarily banned. I had been temporarily banned before on the forum if I didn't toe Dr Mercola's narrative. I got an email from his Content dept. today saying if I continued with any posting that was against the educational content on the site, my banning periods will be extended from days, weeks, to months, then to a year. Dr M's content has been banned from the internet and his newsletters can only be accessed for 48 hrs. The govt. has him on their list of the worst for misinformation making him unfairly a victim of censorship, but he does it himself!

Also a blood test is a snapshot. Not necessarily representative. Proportions of LDL and HDL will be determined by demand for their services at the time of the blood test. Worth mentioning is that LDL and HDL are not cholesterol, they are lipoproteins, their function is to transport water insoluble compounds in the aqueous world of blood.
