One thing I find that helps is finding beys/combos that you can really just vibe with. You don't need to have a deck made with all top of the meta beys. Use your favorite blades, experiment with all sorts of combos. If it's a weird combo but it just feels good, use it. Using anti meta stuff can actually be an advantage because most people don't know what to expect.

Casual tourneys that isn't restricted on using different beys helped me since I can cook on the fly and also allowed me to try the builds I tested at home if it works or not. I'm still having difficulty using string launchers so I still stick to ripcord launchers for now.

I think this random booster is actually kinda worth getting for some parts. I know you didn't get lucky enough to get it, but Phoenix Feather is great to have since this is it's first reprint. Same with Elevate since this is it's first reprint that's available to the public. It's sad to see Ghost Circle be so light though

I prefer the string launcher the most. I am limited by the string length, but that also gives me a limit to not overdo it when I do launch. I also like how much power I get from it at times unintentionally since I can get ripcord speeds if I know what I'm doing

Appreciate the advice. Social anxiety got the best of me at my first tournament until after the first rounds. I definitely felt the ‘standing in the corner’ part personally. 😂

I remember my first tourney, I had to fine tune during the tourney, eventually I got to the point that going early helped with the pre-tourney free play for playtesting. Mid-tourney fine tuning got me to my 2 builds that worked somehow: Drandagger 3-70 P Knightmail 5-70 HT I'm still in the cooking process for the 3rd bey.

Hey, great video! As someone kinda new to Beyblade X but have played many other competitive games in the past (Pokemon, League of Legends), I've always loved building niche/off-meta stuff. One thing I've noticed over the years is that if someone wants to make their niche choices in a competitive game really shine, they might want to practice WITH meta combos at some point... if only so they know how to play against them! You don't have to play Wizard Rod in a tourney, but if you've practiced using WR 9-60 Ball yourself, you'll have more information on how to launch against it, figure out before that tourney if your own niche combo wants a better bit/ratchet for that matchup or if a different bey needs to handle that one... and so on. Maybe after trying 9-60B, you find out you like WizRod as a blade and want to do something weird like 5-60 Rush! That's why niche picks are so great when they work; you're running things that your opponents maybe haven't even seen before and are playing on-the-fly, while you've had opportunities to practice since their combo's so popular. You might not know how they play, but you'll likely know the limits of what their combo can do. If everything else is mostly equal, that knowledge really helps! P.S. - Been loving Roar Tyranno 9-60 on High Needle as my ace bey. Roar is "less meta" because Phoenix is usually better for offense (Roar's lighter/defensive), Phoenix on 9-60 Orb has made some top cuts, and I think Phoenix on 7-60HN did well in a recent big tournament. So I've kinda rolled all of that into one idea, and it's been pretty fun!

Wizard Rod is more of a test bey for me, I very rarely play Spamina. I tend to find fun in figuring out builds that surprisingly work against the meta and also comfy for me to use. So far I got Drandagger 3-70 P and Knightmail 5-70 HT that surprised people.

the last tournament I went to I was forced to not use full meta beys, Samurai Saber, Tyrano Beat and Cobalt Dragoon 2/3 of them are on A and B class. I manage to get into top 8 on a G3 tournament with that deck.
