don't know why youtube recommended this to me randomly, but i guess today i will be watching someone fix their slow draining tub
Awesome...hopefully it'll be applicable for you...thanks for the comment!
You might want to replant that plant in a bigger pot first.
That works too! Thanks for the comment!
Yaaaa.. but, you cudda cleaned it up a bit by not using that letter opener to trim the fabric. A sharp, snap-bade tool outside the spline/inside the frame eliminates the whiskers. I am glad you did it tho' ..the no-talking approach makes you watch what going on. 'Good idea. Cheers. Jim
Thanks for the tip and comment!
I put those cheap silver camp blankets on my sun facing windows, bonus I can see thru them, kind of like a one way mirror.
Cool use of the camp blankets...thanks for the comment!
I first called around to see what people charge to to rescreen 2 * 3 ft screens, the cheapest price was $30, local hardware store charge 50, at LOWES the screen was 19, the cord was 6 bucks installation tool was 5.
Thanks for the comment!
We have one thing in common: neither of us wants to show our face on camera in our content!
Ha...awesome!
Super Thanks
My pleasure!
What do you think the average cost was per screen? How long did it take you to make one?
Maybe $20 a screen and about 20 minutes...the time it takes significantly reduces after doing it over and over :)
very silly descriptions but it does seem correct
Thanks for the comment and watching!
thank you
Welcome!
Wow! Mine is doing that. Been racking my brain to figure out why and how to fix it. But if I turning on the big burner, it would sparks on the smaller side too. Why it that? Don’t matter which burner I am trying to turn on, it would spark on the opposite side too. 🧐🤔
I would turn the gas off and try the clean from the video for all the burners...if that doesn't work I would inspect the wiring and spark igniter to see if a repair is needed but hopefully the cleaning resolves the issue. 🙂 Thanks for the reply!
Thank you! I used vinegar/water to clean my cubboards, now they lost their shine. It has a dull look and all the dirt sticks to it. I needed something to give it back the shine. Will try this. Hope it works.
Either way it's a cheap try...thanks for the comment!
What worked for my family was Cordless Cellular blinds. You could literally feel the difference between the outside and inside. Works fantastic in summer and cold winters. We also added double curtain rods to seal in any heat whatsoever. To us this results in a 10 degree difference through the entire house. You can buy the blinds at Home Depot or Lowe’s and they cut them to your size windows. Literally the best thing we did. Awnings could be more expensive but honestly depending on hot hot the weather it might just be worth the investment
That's awesome...thanks for the recommendation!
I thought these were solar cells but in the form of a screen. Like an alternative to the roof ones. Sadly, I was wrong. But interesting video nonetheless. Never knew of these types of screens before.
Interesting though...thanks for the comment!
You must not live in AZ or FL
Nope!
Sun will eat those for lunch 😋 been there , tried em, watched em disintegrate in 3 mos. Butt nice try jimmy boi 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It's actually been over 3 months and they still look brand new and are functioning flawlessly, especially with the scorching temperatures right now...keeps the home super cool for sure...thanks for the input though...much appreciated!
Hillarious! Made my day. Nicely done.
Glad it made your day...thanks for the compliment!
Great video; to the point yet detailed. One suggestion though: Vivaldi's Four Seasons instead of the Hungarian Rhapsodies. Not going to lie, the editing with the music was great and made me laugh. It took me back to my Looney Tunes days as a kid! Thank you for your time, effort, amd subtle sense of humor! 👏👏👏
Thanks for the compliment and suggestion...perhaps I'll make use of that tune in a forthcoming video!
@@some-dudes-views Lol, only thought of Vivaldi as we are currently baking in the Texas sun and thinking of cooler fall evenings! ✌️
Definitely some hot days lately!
First: I never ever heard about Magnet Residue Second: Why did you put a Magnet to the handle?
It was an old "picture" magnet...you know how many folks place magnets on the fridge to display photos and such...this was the residue left behind after the magnet was removed after several years.
Even easier, make 1 large frame for each window & screw it to existing molding…
Great idea! I actually tried that 1st but unfortunately the longer the frames the more difficult it is to keep them from "bowing" inward...almost like they need an actual support frame piece in the middle to mitigate this..I feel the separate frames work much better for this reason...thanks for the input!
They make casing clips that rotate and hold screen in place if you don't have screen slot.
Cool. Thanks for the tip!
@@some-dudes-views Dude... they do that all the time on really long windows; a crossbar of same exterior frame material with little clips on the end. Amazon has them.
What an awesome opening - Bravo! 👏
Thank you...glad you enjoyed!
You can put films inside the widows that is designed to reflect heat. It's more seethrew but it cannot be removed for winter season. Also, why not just replace the bug screen by the sun screen? I like the musical choice.
Not a fan of film...just personal preference...thanks for the reply!
I recommend also planting tall growing shrubs or bushes evergreen to shade that side of the house
I actually have evergreens planted but it doesn't help as the sun is so high where I'm at...great for added privacy though! Thanks for the input!
This is a great look. I had this on my windows in my Phoenix Az home. Did a great job of keeping a lot of sunlight out, especially during the summer months. I didn’t know ow they were Solar??? I just thought they were shade screens.
Solar as in they block solar rays or the heat from the sun...thanks for reply!
That's what I did for my home. All of my West and South facing windows have solar screens that I built myself. The only thing I did that was different than you was leaving my screens alone and adding a solar screen on the outside of the window that I can remove during the winter. I attached mine with 7/16 plastic screen clip that are attached to the window frame so I can just turn the clips 90° and remove the screens. My house is situated on top of a hill here in California so my house is like a rotisserie chicken. It's not uncommon for the west surface of my house to be close to 170°. It has made a huge difference reducing the heat load.
That's cool! Thanks for sharing the detailed information!
Mind provising a link to the screen (or a HD SKU or something)?
For sure! It's in the NOTE description of the video...thanks!
I just put the privacy film on the inside of my windows. It’s like having sunglasses on when you look out and nobody can see in.
What about when you open the window though? 😁Just another benefit of the privacy screens...personal preference for sure...thanks for the input!
Waste of money all you had to do was stitch the darker screen over the one that was already there and have a double barrier dust blocker
Check out the NOTE in the description to cover this...thanks for the input!
I wouldn't recommend doing that, I tried installing one screen over the other and it caused waviness and dark lines when viewing from the inside out😂
I agree and great point!
Why did you replace them?
Read the NOTE in the description...thanks!
Production Music is almost unbearable
Haha! Most folks actually like it...understood not for everyone...thanks for the reply!
Wonder why he didn't recycle his old materials, they seemed in decent condition. Sorry I just don't like seeing things get thrown away.
Just didn't have a need after new frames took their place...thanks for the suggestion!
We had bad winds. Probably add Velcro for the top windows.
Yes...extremely strong fasteners were used...although the surface was cleaned with alcohol they supposedly lock on even when wet or dirty...thanks for the comment!
I should probably do the velcro as well b/c a couple of my sunscreens have blown off over the years, even with metal screen clips.
It can get very windy at times where I am at as well...I used the strongest mounting tape, in addition to the heavy-duty fasteners as shown in the video, for that added strength...haven't had any issues since :)
Cute! 😍
Strange huh? Thanks for the comment!
I spray painted my screens white on the west side of the house to block out that heat. After a few years the paint has started coming off but a cheap spray can of paint will work wonders. I can also see good from inside to outside and it is hard to see inside from outside. The original screen was black.
Cool...thanks!
Thanks! I was wondering today if this could be done. Did the paint glom up the screen any at all?
I'm personally not a fan of spray painting the screens but I'm sure if you do it slowly and methodically, it "should" be fine.
It's hard to do. I did it on my black sunscreens with a brush. I felt like the paint needed to be very watery and quick almost dry brush strokes b/c it will block the holes
A brush? It takes a bit of practice for sure!
Y not paint the trim . less work and $ . spray paint it all .
Just a preference...not a fan of spray paint...risk of peeling or chipping later...thanks for the comment!
Why did you need to replace the frame? Why not just rescreen the old ones with the new shade screen?
Check out the other comments on this...thanks for the reply!
Check out the **NOTE** in the description!
I've seen some people install White horizontal and vertical decorative cross bars
Great for added support too. Thanks for the comment!
Great video! Good instructions! 🤗
Why thank you!
The algorithm must've read my mind that I was thinking about how to make a replacement screen for my kitchen window. Great video. Finally, something different!
Crazy! Thanks for the comment!
Yup. Happens a lot. Have found threads of people who have experienced this.
More common than people think!
Amazing work! Love the music too!! Thank you!
For sure! Thanks for the comments!
This production is awesome!!!! The idea, the video, the music. I love it
Ahhhsum! Glad you liked...thanks for the comment!
Well done sir!! Looks great!!
Why thank you so much!
Thankyou for your video, I am especially hoping someone can tell me the name of the music. My family had a wonderful pianola and we would play this piece regularly, pumping the air with the pedals. It was wonderful music and this has brought back so many memories. Many thanks.
Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Liszt...glad to hear it brought back positive memories for you!
@@some-dudes-views Thankyou for your reply, we are now listening to Herbert von Karajan conducting this piece and it is a most welcome interlude from politics, etc etc. You have made this family very happy.🥰
Wow! Such kind words...glad I could contribute to the happiness of your family!
Nice job. You make it look easier than it is :-)
Thank you kind person!
You know all you had to do was pull out old strapping and screen and replace with the new ones .. cheaper
You're right...however I had some frames that needed to be replaced and needed new ones for the top windows anyway and I was able to share how to do that...thanks for the comment!
Exactly, i thought that as well. But, i see the response, so that makes sense.
👍
Loved the music, and it's a bug screen at the same time
Thank you and yes!
Looks great!
Thank you!
Great production, well presented! Off to Home Depot!
Good luck and thank you for the compliment!
🎉
😁
Missed what you did in the end try again.
Not sure what you mean...thanks for the reply though!
Why not just reuse the old frame?
Some of them were in need of replacing as they were damaged.
I just found your channel. I enjoy your videos. I just wish the directions were easier to read. The print is very small! If the instructions were printed out somewhere else, it would be so much better!
Completely understandable especially if viewed on a phone...have you tried watching on your TV or computer (if the screen is bigger that is)...I've explored with bigger font and felt it took away focus from the actual video since the visual is really what matters for folks...thanks for the suggestion...you never know maybe I'll find a better font in the future!
Very helpful thankyou: )
For sure...my pleasure!
