How much is one of those worth I have one Holsatia Mangel
Is that an area called whichvrch on the map as I can’t fully make it out, if so, what is it known as now? Interesting how things have changed over time
Thankyou for your brilliant videos xxxIm Just reading the countess of Warwick now. Trying to figure out if any connections to the COSENS ULLATHORNE OR CAPELLxxx
Nice
A chap I worked with in Leamington Spa bought a second hand Jensen Healey in 1975. Talk about fast! Unfortunately after less than a year he was forced to sell it because it just fell apart, it was one thing after the other. Like you said it was a rushed job & it suffered unreliability because of that. The looks have stood the test of time, a beautiful design.
Hi Reuben - I know a young person who would love to schooled in the art of becoming a Toast Master, how can be made with yourself ?
Thank you so much for putting this together, I'm lucky enough to own a bj7 that needs complete restoration and this series of films has inspired me to crack on , again thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Great stuff, a real pleasure to hear. Many thanks!
Thank you Jeff!
They used the blue because it muted out the yellow ting the clothes had from soaps and in some cases urine
I don't need to iron these days
Our washing goes out on clothes line or dried inside on an air dryer
How did they use coper boiler starching washing bluing
Hahaha!

Superb images. I wonder if the finger and thumb prints on CR2555/4320, portrait of a gentleman, are those of Graham?
Very interesting, wish my uncle would give me that much cash.
Poor lady looks like shes going to break her back OR HELL NO.AGAIN POOR LADY.SHE WILL FALL DOWN.SHE SHOULD BE DOING AN EASY JOB.NOT WASHIN.
Instead of: “Only girls could be laundry maids in Victorian times.” It is more correct - better - to put it thus: “In Victorian times, only girls could be laundry maids.”
Mr Reuben Lynch it a great pleasure here a fellow Montserratan and Village people just up the hill from your family. We all went to same school. My name is (Sall Allen).
Another great video, thank you for the series. Kind regards, Richard.
Thank you Richard, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Damn it, we support the criminal in Moscow. Putin can only be defeated if we implement an immediate energy-saving lockdown. No more private trips. Heating only at night and only one room with light and electricity, you can simply set that at the fuse box....Cities could, for example, switch off every second street light and companies could switch off their neon signs. We can initially limit driving to pure business trips and hospital trips, etc...!!! Stop driving now for peace and freedom!!!!!! Stop wasting russian energy!!!! Dont make Putin rich!!!!!!!
💯❤️🇨🇦👍🍻
she certainly deserves greater recognition. is there a book about her life.? enjoyed listening to this podcast.
Hi Wendy thank you - we're glad you liked the video! I've checked with Amanda and unfortunately, there isn't a book we're aware of.
I made this just today for my family having learnt it from my grandmother. My method differs slightly. I line a smallish blancmange mould (or similar) with glacé cherries and a little mixed peel. I then pour the warm mixture over the peel and leave to set. I serve it with a variety of sauces. Tonight a walnut, honey sauce. Granny sometimes lined the bottom of the pudding with a fruit jelly. Then poured the mixture onto the set jelly layer.
Wow it's great to hear variations of these recipes are still being used today!
How do you use a copper boiler and routine for wash day
Fascinating overview of the challenges of this collection. Looking forward to hearing more about the work and all your discoveries.
Thanks Sam! 🙂
Leptonectes?
Thanks Rob. A very enjoyable video. It occurs to me that if there is a William Towns archive out there, it would be ideal for the Record Office to acquire as a complement to the Healey archive.
Thank you!! The beauchamps are my direct ancestors!!
Very interesting, thank you. Kind regards, Richard.
Are there any more like this? I found it calming and pleasent to watch .
Thank you, some great photographs and a good potted history. Looking forward to visiting the museum in the New Year. Kind regards, Richard.
An excellent video, kind regards, Richard.
I worked at Benford (in Warwick) from 1993 to 2003, when production was moved to Coventry, and also continued in Coventry for a few more years. I knew nothing about Healey working out of the Cape site until recent years, and have an interest in the history. It is my understanding that Healey built cars (the Warwick Healeys) out of what we called "E&D" - an old fashioned hangar type workshop, right next to the canal bridge on Cape Road. I have spoken to some of the old boys who have said this is also their understanding. One of the key people in the Benford business was a certain Stella Brummel (Personal Assistant. to the M.D.), who later won the award for business woman of the year, after eventually becoming Managing Director. Stella lived with her husband (who was also a director involved in manufacturing/automotive works elsewhere), at "The Stables" at Bridge End, in Warwick, and I have heard a first hand witness tell me that Stella was known for her rather fashionable dress sense, and her nice little sports car, I'm guessing a Healey. My understanding is that the hangar was an RAF installation before Benford took over the site. Benford was started by Mr Bennett and Mr Langford, who made a motorized wheelbarrow, which morphed into a dumper truck, eventually. I suspect some dealing or espionage went on, because Thwaites sprang up just 3 miles away, and the two firms dominated the site-dumper market for the next 60 years. I'm not sure when the Webb family took over at Benford, but mid-late 1930's is my understanding. Stella was there early..late 30's, until the 80's. Yes, Donald Healey either bought or rented an upper floor apartment at Kenilworth Road, L/Spa. Yes, I remember the Healey Showroom at Coten End, which was a Cinema, and eventually a taxi business, and now redeveloped completely. The whole Benford site is now re-developed as flats etc, and the Benford business has been bought by a French firm named Mecalac, and still struggles on out of Coventry. A handful of my old workmates are still there. It's odd, and disappointing that after working at Benford (Terex) for nearly 20 years, I knew nothing of the Healey history and connection, until after I left. I was recently touring in my motorhome in Cornwall, and was going to visit the Healey family cider business, where they have a small Healey exhibition on display, but it was not open at that time.
Hi, would it be ok with you if we posted your comment onto our community history site 'Our Warwickshire? It would sit alongside the video and article. www.ourwarwickshire.org.uk Let me know, thanks.
Thankyou for your comments, particularly interested in the information that there was an RAF hangar already on the Benford site
@@heritageandculturewarwicks7153 Of course. No problem.
I just came across this video...what is the name of the red soap she mentioned and how do you spell it? Thank you. Very educational video.
Hi Julie, the soap is called Carbolic
Is the yellow soap Sunlight?
Great content, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was a laundry maid for a casino hotel in 1999.
I'd take my shoes off, rinse my feet, lift my dress up and stomp on the laundry with my bare feet.
THAT'S HOW YOU DID IT...A GREAT ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT FOR BAD ASSES TO REALLY KNOW HOW THE OLD DAYS...OLD WAYS WAS BEFORE MODERN TIMES TODAY!😱💩
Far too many ingredients for a real Anglo Saxon flatbread .
First :D !! v
First!! :D v
Fantastic! My boys loved doing this and had great fun with the butterfly!
