I would think that your videos and pictures would be backed up in the iCloud or google drive, depending on the type of phone you have. Even with the phone at the bottom of the canal!

Do you have a map of your planned route?
We have basic guidelines. The US side of Ontario up to the Thousand Islands, to Kingston, Ontario and into the Trent Severn canal which cuts across Canada and puts us into the Georgian bay and North Channel of Huron If we get there early enough and not spend too much time there. We will head to superior. That is the lake we would eliminate. If not superior then over to door county area of Lake Michigan. From there onto Mackinac down the east side of Michigan to Detroit, Lake St Clair and back to Erie. With a hopeful return date by he end of September
