On this 9.5 how much toe room do you have between your tip of your toe and the toe of the boot
How did the break-in go, just starting with similar boots. (Drew’s brown full rough out) I also have flat feet and it’s been tough, I received them 2 day ago. I have been wearing them around the house.
Good overview. You’re right; I find that, new out of the box, Case knives should be lightly honed and stopped. Yes, they come sharp but edge smoothing will make it perfect. It only takes about 3 - 5 minutes, so why not?
A little late here but I have that knife. Same thing, it was a little difficult to open. Had to adjust the lock bar then it was decent. As of right now, it's my anodizing sacrifice piece. I use it to practice different techniques and patterns. The titanium is good.
OMG this knife is stunning. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Do these have Drew’s “modified 55” Last? I’m curious about it as the standard 55 is kinda poor shape for toes.
@@EDHBlvd they do indeed. The modified last is roomy in the toe box and that premolded insole I think adds a lot for the ease of break-in. I agree the 55 is a poor shape for certain foot shapes and toes. The Drew’s modified last is a big deal for folks who don’t want to mess around with tightness early on or with having their toes feeling cramped even after the boots are broken in. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
MADE IN CHINA, Here comes a tariff for you.
Great video. Thanks man
@@leecraven7256 thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thx for review. Green model in same is mircata or same like this?
Another Walmart unicorn...too bad most Walmarts don't carry their unicorn knives...but good video.
@@vinnieessigman4844 Really? Is it just out of stock or do they really not even carry it?
Ive head this type of barlow referred to as a "cigarlow." Im not a traditional guy, but it makes sense since its definitely a combo of the cigar and barlow patterns.
@@CNYKnifeNut Cigarlow! Love it! 👍🏻
Lol! My husband is a nut job! 😂😂 Buck 110 or 112. Case 75 stockman. Or any rosecraft. The rosewood french broad jack was a great choice. I really like mine. When you dont know them it is hard to tell.
Haha yes! I feel like it was impossible to do the video justice being that there are so many amazing options out there for under $100. But an interesting idea to think about. Bucks are definitely up there! 😊
I think it will cut! Great review Adrien! And so happy to have you back brother!
@@BaxtersBladesthank you Andrew! Good to be back brother 😎
I got carbon flip open one and I have to admit it’s been a good one solid machine work in it tight tolerance all that.
@@spearshaker7974 Awesome!
My first pair of Nick’s boots was $425 shipped about 10 years ago maybe. Now the same exact pair is $619. I just can’t afford that really anymore. Gotta check out the Drew’s.
@@JonathanGrandt which pair did you end of going with from nicks? 619 is a lot of money. I wish I could give you first hand knowledge about how Drews stacks up against Nicks but I can definitely say the quality of Drews is astounding for the price when compared against other boots I own
Ya the pricing keeps creeping up. It’s kind of gone too high.
Welcome back good sir 🎉🎉
Thank you brother! 😊
at least the brass pin unscrews tweaks are possible
got mine yesterday. they've redesigned the sheath a bit, it fits way better now
@@zaki_vozd that’s great thanks for sharing. Is the new sheath a standard friction fit?
@@adrienjames no, it's still the same sheath. they removed some of the leather material around the handle to allow for a tighter wrap with the strap. as a result, the finger guard now gets caught on the strap and it prevents it from sliding out. it's not perfect, you can still pull it out with some force, but it doesn't fall out on it's own as easy.
@@zaki_vozd thanks!
cool collection
@@Wcquick thank you!
Nothing like a well carried well-used well-loved case pocket knife and this one would make a great candidate but you have to put it in your pocket not in a slip
I gave up playing their artificial scarcity hustle that keeps the prices ridiculous. Most are scooped up by resellers that jack the prices up even higher...nice knives but just not worth the Hassel and stupid advance reserve BS you have to play to maybe have the privilege to pay through the nose to get one .....
That would be beautiful with a Damascus blade.
@@cecilmize1 indeed. Thanks for watching!
Great review 😊
Thank you!!
Thank you for the review it was very helpful. 😎👍
Thank you!! 😎
@@adrienjames You're welcome! 😊👍
My only problem is they have so many color options I can't decide. 😂 A very nice looking knife. 👍
haha agreed! Thanks for watching 😎
@@adrienjames You're welcome, Sir. 😎👍
You are so indecisive I can’t follow you. Is it sharp, is it toothy, will it shave you? I’m out. On and out on…
Bye
Grail caliber knife for mry
Indeed and thank you. It’s a true beauty and one I’ll pass on to my son
Sir.. stick a square of thick leather on the girth and it's done and the knife will stay in the sheath👍
I like it so much i own 2 of this one and one of all the rest of the series except the Drs knife which i am just not a fan of Drs knives. The style and color of this sawcut is superb.
Indeed it is. Thanks for watching!
One of the best looking knives I have. The action is phenomenal as well!!
The mouse stamp came from his battle with mice in his first appearance. I think he had the mouse stamp edition for his second appearance in Mongolia. The Genesis is my go too for all things bushcraft.
Thanks for the info. Isn’t it a great knife? Might be my favorite of all time
@@adrienjames I have a lot of bushcraft knives, but this is the one I keep going back to. It just doesn't feel right to go to the woods without it.
Just now seeing this video. That knife is incredible.
Thanks!! It really is one of my favorites. Thanks for watching 😎
Mines on its way, the red and black scales, but that blue and black is nice too
Indeed!
I own both of the Rosecraft Barlows. They are such well made knives, and with an elegant touch of style!
Agreed - such excellent knives!
I had one but gifted it to a friend to use as a whittler as the tip, from the factory, was rounded over quite badly. I'd like to order another but need a sharp, defined tip for my uses. If you look at the Rough Ryder Reserve RRR021, what they call their Quilcliffe, you get that same size blade but better finished and in D2 on a slightly longer handle beautifully dressed in black micarta. If you end up getting your hands on one, I'd love to see a side by side video. Great content. Liked and subscribed.
Thank you sir! And I’ll work on picking up one of those rough ryders 😎
@@adrienjames SMKW and Chicago Knife Works both have them on sale for $39 and change right now, and they're one hell of a bargain at that price. The walk and talk on them is just plain impressive and the heat treat and finish of the D2 really lend it a keen edge and great stain resistance.
The larry roberts edition came out after the show which is also what led to the larry roberts gen 6 because after being on the show and using the regular genesis he wanted a genesis with a longer blade. The gen 6 is what he took with him on his second appearance on the show.
Awesome thanks for that info. The gen 6 always looked a bit off to me proportionately. Fantastic knife though I’m sure. And useful
@@adrienjames I agree it doesn't look proportionate to me either it's an Lt though so I'm sure it's great. I have the regular genesis and am very happy with it. I do wish I would have spent the couple extra bucks on the Larry Roberts edition. I really like the white liners and I'm sure it fills the hand just a touch better.
I have the genesis in scandi and a GNS in saber grind. Between those you have knives that should handle most of what gets thrown at ya out there. I also carry a Winkler combat axe if I need to do heavy chopping.
Awesome combination. Thanks for watching!
No I've never heard of that brand. It's not a clone so It would be worth a try. Maybe you got a one off with a roughly machined detent. Thanks for sharing it Brother
Yes I think you may be right. Thanks for watching! All the best 😎
Seems that mine has the updated sheath. Even with the strap open you can’t shake the knife out upside down. The fire stick handle still doesn’t line up properly to its home but if you insert it upside down it fits perfectly. Lucky it’s just a fire stick and is a consumable that gets replaced over and over anyway so it’s not important since every brand uses a different shape. One of the other complaints besides the old sheaths being loose was the dull spine. It only takes 30 seconds on the stone to get the spine to make the spine functional. For the $43 I can’t find anything to cry over. Removable scales would be sweet but we can’t always have it all in the very budget price point.
Can’t disagree with that fine assessment. Great to hear the sheath has been changed up. The pinned handles don’t bother me so much. I have so many knives to baton with. This is a hunting/carving knife for me. Thanks for watching!
Never heard of it. Sounds like a deal with that steel and if it isnt just titanium coated aluminum. I hate a strong detent, i have 1 knife like that and i never use it. Id open it up and lube the crap out of it. Thats a temporary fix till it breaks in i guess.
Agreed. I’m pretty sure this is actual titanium. Impressive, but honestly that detent is such a pain I ended up getting rid of it completely. There are just too many good choices out there 😎👍🏻
Sorry watch the video again you didn't really tell us anything😊
So why are you smiling?
Have you actually used this knife in the bush yet? I like the grind it has better than a convex myself
Yes it’s done well. Wait a sec - You like the grind it has out of the box with the secondary bevel over a convex edge?
Yes because out in the bush it’s easier for me to sharpen on a stone. And with convex you need something padded underneath some sandpaper, that’s just something else to have to pack. Jmo
@@jimmyrutledge4531 Of course do what you do but a pad underneath is not necessary. Guys have been sharpening knives out in the bush with convex edges for thousands of years using nothing but rocks. Micro bevels have no true place of lasting value in the wilderness.
Really? I guess I don’t understand how you can get a true convex using a flat hard stone?
I was lucky enough to get this when it came out. Mardi Gra acrylic is awesome, my favorite though is my 65 Templar with this acrylic.
Nice! I’ve never seen the Templar with this acrylic that must look cool 😎
What if they both want it? 😂
Good question! 😅
I recently learned that the original Wharncliffe design was for both blade and handle. This offering very closely resembles the early profile. At the time of viewing this knife is going for $12.31 at Chicago Knifeworks.
Outstanding thank you 😎
Ordered another one , lol .what a great value
They really are. Are they still in stock? I should check
Looks like a a great knife! I've become a huge LT Wright fan. Thanx fo the review!
Thanks! It is such a great knife. Beautiful performer. You end of having to pay a pretty penny for LTWK but they are heirloom pieces no doubt. 🌲🪵🔥
Why do you rub the blades
Take the finger prints off.
I like this Sleeve
I have absolutely no problem buying Chinese knives, but I wouldn't go anywhere near that... That can't be manufactured in conditions even remotely resembling ethical. By all means, you do you though.
