Just circling back - I have yet to implement anything yet, but a recent chat with a friendly AI suggested the central sensors should be 10 degrees out, and the edge sensors 30 degrees out to ensure overlap of sensing area. That should provide a decent enough spread and could even allow the sensors to be slightly closer together for a smaller robot. If I get time I would love to protype this. ps I got your note on lidar, but for outdoors in all weather, I feel these sensors will be pretty good.
