Awesome doc, look forward to your future vids! :)
Well done!
I've burned way too many hours watching videos about joke theft, and nearly all of them boil down to one important point: Comics just aren't very imaginative or creative, yet they think they're god's gift to originality, so anything that comes too close must be theft. But even so-called word-for-word bits are often just the most obvious jokes to tell: See, e.g., Carlos Mencia vs Bill Cosby on football players saying "hi" to mom but not dad. One painfully obvious joke that's only funny amongst drunks drawn out in the most painfully obvious way leading to two isomorphic bits that are cute but not creative. Hell, I saw a clip of Rogan confronting Mencia for stealing a joke from some young comic, yet it was obvious that the comic must have stolen the joke from "Have I got News for You." For calibration, watch Vsauce's video on which way is up. Think of the creativity and imagination that went into the physics he's talking about. Hell, Newton & Leibniz simultaneously discovered ways to add and subtract infinite zeros to come up with real-world results, because that's essentially what calculus is. And even at that level, people are coming up with the same ideas at the same time: Google a list of multiple scientific discoveries. Stewart Lee talking about the rap singers jumping like _this_ off the ramp down at the corn exchange is absolutely hilarious; however, it's not exactly laying the foundations of non-Euclidean geometry, which had three independent discoverers, is it? Brits even have a saying for how to understand joke theft: cock up before conspiracy.
Terry's such a lege
