Spine is definitely more of a dieselpunk style than cyberpunk, imo.

I only found the band because of Steamworld Heist. Good video. There was a lot I didn't know about the band.

I haven't listened through everything SPG made (at least not recently), but your description of the Vice Quadrant makes me think of the Beatler more experimental albums, and perhaps this is one of those as well. Experiments that a lot of people that like the band in general will not like as much and see more as a detour, but that musical historians might bring up as "pivotal" or "groundbreaking".

Don't discount the Steamworld Heist album. It's how I got introduced to the band and if you ever ask me which versions of the songs I prefer, I will always go with Steamworld Heist.

Just discovered this unique and very talented band. Thank you for producing and filming this well done documentary giving the background and history of SPG.

The band was never going to go mainstream afterThe Jon left. While he didn't take it as serious as the Bennetts, his character,appeal, and and talent were the most relatable to the mainstream. After Jon left it became a bit too insular, and I think while.the Bennetts are great at Lore, Costuming, and are Perfectionists, it just misses the heart Jon offered.

While I'm not a die-hard fan of SPG, I do enjoy their sound and really enjoy The Spine and his antics. And his voice. I can't get over that range! I first heard Spine on his cover of Summertime Sadness. I don't follow popular bands so I had no idea this was a cover...but when I did find out, it didn't change my opinion of it. I still have never heard the original because I love Spine's version so much...don't want to taint my enjoyment of it! And the video that goes with the song...well, amazing!

to be fair gigi the giraffe is a silly song which is great if you are slightly drunk and having a good time. (Self tested). I think you might find the humor in it, but I would not say grammy worthy... lol

Great video. I think it makes him compelling as a character that he is flawed, he is an idealist in the purest form, he is the archetype of a man who fights for the little guy, for what is right, not becaue it it easy but becaue it is hard.

LED volumes aren’t to blame here chief. And it’s literally the only way to get the slop to consumers at the scale the shareholders require. Any tool will look like shit if you are using a creative tool for the most cynical reasons possible. Green screen at this scale would look even worse I promise. Source;I work on these sets.

Hi, I am a vfx artist who worked on some of these movies/TVs. I understand your hatred towards whatever that's making the look "bad". However, I do need to point out that the Obiwan show @5:10 and boba show @5:39 are literally on set, not in front of the Stagecraft. One can be seen from the official behind the scene and one that I worked on(literally some of my shots). and the world with the most boring colour @5:08 is kind of just how it looks like on set.. A desert is boring. To me, it feel like that Mando1 mando2 mando3 bobafett andor and obiwan are roughly having the same day time style comparing to each other. Night time, yeah that's rough.. At the end of the day, I think it really comes down to how experienced the director and DP are. Technology and techniques should build on each other.

LED screens will never replace green or bluescreens. They cannot get bright enough to replicate the sun properly. Using LED screens also means you have to do a lot of cgi before you shoot the fillm. This requires a lot of planning that the studios would rather put aside for later. When vfx in marvel movies for example look bad, its because its all shot on bluescreen with improper lighting. This is because they dont actually know what the background is going to be yet. So the VFX artists have to compensate for the poor lighting after, and relighting actors is EXTREMELY difficult in VFX. Poor choices on set lead to poor vfx down the line, and vfx artists get the blame every time. Also, a note on the LED screens: If the director regrets what he put on the screens after he shoots it, its a pain in the ass to change later because we dont have bluescreens.
