Installing fonts for Cricut Design Space on Windows 10
มุมมอง 19K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick video on how to install fonts for use with Cricut Design Space on Windows 10 using Internet Explorer. Any browser will be the same steps in general. In this process, I'm starting from a zip file, unzipping the enclosed font file and then installing it in Windows for use with Cricut Design Space.
Upload files to design space in iOS 13
มุมมอง 2064 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick video on uploading files to Design Space using iOS 13. These files are specifically from the Makers Gonna Learn site, which does require a membership. Since iOS 13 can unzip files natively, no other apps are needed. Downloaded files go to the Downloads folder in the Files app, from there you unzip then upload directly to Design Space.

Vector Stencils for Design Space

In this video I go through a process I use to scan an object (in this case a stencil) and turn it into a vector file (SVG) to use with Cricut Design Space. I'm by no means an expert Illustrator user or an artist, I've just learned a few things along the way that I'm sharing. This video is a little on th...

      @@nakialitt1031okay, then the same steps should apply. In Design Space, you just select the font, if you're getting a "No File Found" error that indicates you are trying to use Upload or something to add a file directly to Design Space, that isn't how fonts work. You will need to find the downloaded font file, if it is a zip file (very common) then you need to use the right click on it to open a little menu and select the Extract here option. You should then either see a new folder, or the files directly and you can right click on those and select the Install option. Then, you need to make sure you close Design Space completely and reopen it, and when writing text, you should be able to select the font from the text options.

    I want to use the METRO font in Microsoft Edge in my cricut design space. how do I get it to cricut?

    • @musickmann
      @musickmann 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As Edge is a web browser, and web browsers don't generally have their own fonts, I'm not specifically sure what you are referring to here or where you are seeing this font. Cricut generally has access to any system font in Windows already, so if you are seeing a font in use somewhere, you may already have it in Cricut, otherwise you will need to find the actual font file to install them. There are many fonts with that name available, so not sure which you are looking for, but for example you can download fonts here: www.dafont.com/metro-2.font

    Wow. I started with a custom stencil on mylar that I drew up and found that the tiny details I needed for it, I could not carve out (I tried a Dremel, a wood burner, and a stencil burner). I am an art student so I knew I had to go build vector graphics, but really had not used illustrator or any of the other freeware out there. Your tutorial is really well done. The confusion for me was whether I had to create hundreds of individual graphic files (shapes) versus having my original artwork chopped up into pieces that could be manipulated. You just saved me many hours of wasted time. Thank you.

    • @billk4448
      @billk4448 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So here is a question. I need my stencil to be VERY detailed with very small shapes (I am using it to airbrush). The stencils you demo''d were quite large. What settings would you change in illustrator to be able to get much more intricate details into my stencil? A good example would be a stencil for fish scales in a 12 x9 workspace on the cricket. Inpout greatly appreciated. Illustrator (like photoshop) tends to be relatively persnickety and hard to figure out.

    • @musickmann
      @musickmann 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am by no means an expert in illustrator, I just kinda pick things up as I need to. Since I was coming from a scanned object, the process is more tricky for sure. If you are drawing from scratch in illustrator, I think you'll be much better off. I think it also relies heavily on the quality of the starting image if you are scanning something in, and the resolution will need to be much higher if you're talking very small details.

    • @musickmann
      @musickmann 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nitaboo74 It does. I've done more than one several times, you just have to take extra time to get the placement down. However, I would caution against drawing on one side and then flipping it over, as I have had the stickiness of the mat mess up the writing.
