Addiction is your sin nature in which Apostle Paul describes as the thorn in the flesh. Its worshiping of idols which all the world does. (An idol is anything that takes your mind and attention from God) Addiction or imbalance in the brain chemistry teaches you that you must learn to constantly surrender to God in every area of your life, all 7 deadly sins (character defects) in order to be reborn, renewed, remade aka a new creature in Christ the Lord who is the only one who can remove this sin nature on a daily basis because His mercies are new every morning. Addiction is a disease of humanity. It is not a moral problem, it rests in the very DNA of a person. It affects you mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically and unless you have experienced it yourself, don't profess to know how it works. Satan or the ego is Christians favorite excuse for their own sinful nature that they want to really not have to take responsibility for. Satan works for God as a testor to purify and try your faith. Satan is only a tool to help you grow up into the mature child of God, that makes God happy. Addiction is a spiritual disease that only a complete psychic change (like Christ demonstrated thru the washing of the consciousness or water baptism then anointing of the holy spirit) can remedy.

I have faced death as both a lost unbeliever & as a Believer in Christ. I can agree with you, that death does not hold the same power of fear over a born-again Believer that knows without a doubt that their future beyond this life is secure, as it does someone who is unsure of what is to come. Life with Jesus is freedom. Freedom from fear & uncertainty. Death holds no power over the life of Christian. Praise God!
History shows us that elections, leaders & nations come & go. However, the Kingdom of God is eternal. Looking forward to the day when the only leader that will matter, is The One who sits on the throne as King of Kings & Lord of Lords. Until that day, I will take your challenge & pray with you for our nation's leaders & salvation.
