"their ancestors left Greece thousands of years ago"...that's applying modern standards to what "Greece" is though? They identify as Greek, they're from lands where Greek people lived for thousands of years. Just because it's now part of Turkey doesn't mean these guys can't be Greek.

Thanks for putting this up John. I would like to suggest you re-upload it with better sound quality if you can. The volume is low and there’s a weird buzzing like noise in the background that interferes as well. Perhaps it’s the film quality and it can’t be helped? Still, grateful for the upload.

As a Greek who finds numerous cultural references in Theo's movies, leaving aside the personal taste, for me the most interesting and rich in ideas, those aforementioned references and small scale Greek history is Alexander.Even though it not, obviously, not his best//

I remember watching this on SBS 1984 crying then as I did re-watching today for the struggles and tragedies of ordinary Greeks seeking refuge within themselves, Greece and abroad often isolated and permanently displaced by the commitment abroad making new lives mostly prospering but never forgetting their roots or traditions establishing entire communities in cities and towns many thousands of miles away from their motherland and families integrating and assimilating life in Australia and elsewhere, as the first generation son of Greek and Cypriot parents I'm also a proud patriotic native Australian occasionally conflicted between cultures as a blended multicultural life having children and grandchildren of our own becoming less Greek with successive generations, Stelios Kazantsidis had a few bluesy songs of sorrow describing these issues of displacement abroad and loss of family and community which helps everyone affected confront their lifes conundrums in maintaining inheritable culture in a state of the blues.
