Drilling with MF Seed Drill

Trying out my old massey seed drill with some wheat seed at Brancepeth, County Durham
NUL ! 0
I like these machines! How wide is this one and how wide were the biggest of them?
This one is a 4 metre wide machine. I think MAYBE they made a 6 metre version, but I've never seen one. Even on this 4 metre drill, when you filled it to maximum capacity, you could notice a slight sag (downward bend) in the middle. So I think a 6 metre drill would sag quite a bit more..
OK, thanks a lot for your answer! Greetings from France.
We used to pull ours with a 590 4wd and pull a set of chain harrows behind the drill. Its nice to see them still being used. good vid. 👍👍
Nice outfit, what is your opinion of this seed drill? are they a good set up?
Hello William, You can't beat the old massey seed drills! I wish I never sold mine... If you buy one you won't be disappointed as, if you get a good one, they only go up in value! Mine was a later 500 drill which came with all the whistle and bells; tramlining, end tow, following harrows and pre-em markers. You can cover the ground fairly quickly with a 4m, but a 3m would be handier to get through gateways etc.
Refco Farms I notice a few of them purchased around here in recent years, there are still many fresh ones coming up for sale. The only thing is a few extra runs with the harrow are required but I'd imagine the extra cost of a decent one-pass system would be hard to justify for the small grower. Thanks for the feedback
