Open bites are among the most challenging types of malocclusion to treat, especially in cases of severe skeletal open bite and an overdeveloped mandible. Some patients decline surgery as a corrective option, and this case serves as one such example.
Let’s explore what can be achieved with orthodontics alone in such complex cases.
In this patient with an overdeveloped mandible, two premolars were extracted. Mini-screws were placed to retract the front teeth and correct the crossbite. The line of force was applied above the center of resistance of the mandibular dentition, facilitating a clockwise rotation to close the bite. Mini-screws were used on both sides to ensure proper force distribution.
Bite closure and crossbite correction were successfully achieved without any loss of anchorage in the mandibular molars.
However, despite receiving toothbrushing instructions, poor oral hygiene can sometimes lead to the development of white spots or even decay, as seen on the canine in this case, which will require treatment by a dentist.

I don't have much overbite but they said 2 upper and 2 lower teeth will be extracted for braces treatment A week ago my one 1st premolar pulled out and I don't want to do it again with my other premolars ...so is this possible to fulfill gap like this ?
It is not wise to change now the treatment plan if you have already removed a premolar.

They work, but aligners are not so good in root movements of the teeth. So, if you need a lot of root movement, braces are better.

Samething happened with me when i was a child. I could break my incisor. Eventually i had 2 tooth at same place. Once at bottom and one above it. The dentist did the same procedure.

I have this problem but my orthodontist says it's impossible to move the canine to its original position so it has to be st the position of the lateral incisor😢 She says i have to make a decision whether i like it or not and the truth is that i don't like that
Often, it is not possible to move it to its original position without compromising health. So, this aesthetic issue may be fixed later with a veneer.

had much less intense defects and still had to wear them for 6 years its due to a fucking scumbag doctor, taking paychecks per visit so he just started to shift all teeth back and forth had to find another clinic and after 1 more year im finally free its a miracle my teeth didnt crumble
