We left Auckland in the morning and drove to Waitomo where we did 2 cave tours. We had pre purchased the family Waitomo Glowworm Cave & Ruakuri Cave combo ticket. The Glowworm Cave started with walking where we saw so many glowworms. We then took a boat ride and saw sooo many more glowworms. There was no photography or videography in this cave. After we finished in the glowworms cave we had to drive 5-10 minutes to our second cave tour, the Ruakuri Cave. We were allowed to take photos and video in this cave. It was spectacular. It had way less glowworms but the cave had more spectacular formations. We would have loved to do Blackwater rafting too but we knew we wouldn’t have enough time as we visited Waitomo on our way to Cambridge from Auckland. I would highly recommend visiting Waitomo and doing the cave tours.
