I freaking love a mustache, but the wife is not a fan! Won't even let me get near her with it. lol I have considered using it to shave my head, but I have such a full head of hair and enjoy using oils and pomade that I haven't given it much thought. Thanks for checking out my channel!

Hi Adam, the Barber Pole sign behind me is actually painted cast iron from the 1930-40's. I found it in a small southern Missouri antique shop 6-7 years ago. Thank you for stopping by!

Yes! The first time using the essence was great success(except the blind weepers). The barber pole is painted cast iron and I happened upon it in an antique store in southern Missouri. It was made in the 1930’s. Thanks so much for the kind words, I wish my wife agreed on the mustache!!!

The lady of the house has been pushing for me to keep the "hobo look," you know the 5 day scruff. So, sometimes it can get out of hand. I wouldn't mind getting back to weekly videos. Yes, I really considered a Heljestrand MK32 for this one, but with the Essence sitting for the last month, I had to give it a try and it worked really well.

I don't own a trimmer or a one blade, but I think the straight did pretty well. Yeah, a little blood, but I see it as penance for going so long without a shave. I always have a few weepers under my chin, no matter the blade or razor I use. The dry skin and irritation under my beard DID NOT HELP. Irritation is already looking much better and the next shave will be much better.

No joke! Next time I won’t run it with a flag the entire time either. Happy new year and blessings on your family!

I completely agree with you on this. I have a lot of soaps thanks to the shave mafia. Nowadays, I’ve realized that I enjoy Mitchell’s Wool fat, palm olive, and Arko just as much as the artisan stuff they cost twice as much or more. I’m a fan of making clown, puke soaps, much like you mention above, taking several samples and mixing them all together with proven soaps. You have to save money where you can and I don’t spend money on soaps like I did. Inflation is no joke. Thanks for your comment!

Hey Ben, I wouldn't agree with that statement at all. I think a full hollow like this Prima is a great place to start. I wouldn't say its the thinnest for sure. It is a nice blade and a lot of beginners pick it up because of its lower cost and ease of use. I personally learned on ultra full hollow blades from the golden years of straight razor production. They were much thinner than this blade and I felt like they were very intuitive. Stropping is in my opinion much more difficult with large tanged blades than that of a smaller 5/8 like the Prima. No matter what razor you use, if you take your time shaving and stropping, you'll start having great shaves after you get used to the process. Glad to help if needed. Best wishes! -Matt

@@omrxblah4572 I suppose straight faced is a double entendre in this case. Shaving with a straight razor and keeping calm in the face of adversity or danger. I also thought about chatting about current events while I shaved, but never quite incorporated it. I just like to shave, so that’s what I do.

Hey Adam, this set was great with the exception that the Koma was not razor grade and I ended up getting a 100% white stone this last month. The tuschima black nagura is okay, but they like to crack when they get wet, so that was a surprise. Overall very happy with this purchase and the learning experience. Glad you’re over at the cadre! It’s a great group of guys!

Thanks much! I'm glad I have all the boxes built, I have X6 4X8 by 18 inches tall garden boxes, X4 3X2 X 12 garden boxes, the Strawberry box, and a 3X8 by 8 inches tall herb garden box. I ended up moving 10 cubic yards of dirt with a shovel and wheelbarrow... It was a lot of fun and very tiring.
