If you're wondering why Nintendo's racers have been making your current position vanish right before the finish line ever since MKWii, it's just in case you're somehow out of sync with the official server-side result. It's not impossible for a close online race to desync just enough for it to look like two different results to the two different systems. I guess there's some kind of consensus mechanism, or something.

My observation with GP legend is that it's generally pointless to go as fast as you can go since you can never build a gap - the CPU cars are always right behind you no matter what, and the closest car is always the last CPU car you saw last, the others are randomized. No way GPL black bull is capable of being that nimble behind you, but once it's ahead of you, its true clumsiness is revealed. Not sure if this is true in Climax, but it's an interesting observation.

I wish there was a Master Difficulty, Expert felt too easy for me in GP Legend. I suppose I'm used to MV's Master difficulty I guess 😅

Not bad at all. I'm more interested in this particular cup in general with the machines that 'weren't expected to race on it'. The strategy adjusts from 'pure skill' to 'how best to manipulate the game's ridiculous rubber banding'. I almost figure stockpiling boosts for the last lap might be a valid strategy so long as you kept above the line but I suspect Crystal isn't going to be able to do that very well as the only thing that was worth it, that I can recall anyways, was its boost time.

I've loved the series since the snes and I was excited to eventually get a copy of climax... I tore up MV and GP Legend, but climax just felt so weird in comparison. I mean, I lost my gamecube memory card and re-beat all of GX in two days, I can F-Zero lol but I just couldn't hit a groove with climax. Was it incompatible with the GB player or something? I distinctly remember the track getting really jittery/warped at high speed; maybe that was an intentional design choice but it really disrupted the framerate. The way your ship drops speed in an instant was really awkward, too. The game didn't telegraph the same sense of speed and weight and momentum like the others (same reason I was disappointed in Wipeout pulse/hd/2048 compared to most of the rest of the series) You've got damn good control over that ship though, i wish I was that good at the game lol

What do you mean Fire Stingray got nothing? Their boost now costs 2% less than before, this is totally a game changer and absolutely fixes everything that's wrong with this vehicle and puts it on par with the best. Death Wind? Never heard of it
