Enhance your 6.0 Powerstroke's performance with Kill Devil Diesel's exclusive Jesel Rocker Arm System. Watch our detailed installation guide and get ready to unleash the power within! The Jesel Pro-Steel rocker system features USA made forged steel rocker bodies, shaft mounted, with roller tips. The kit includes tool steel valve bridges, and ARP hardware. This rocker system is used by the fastest powerstrokes in the world, allowing racers to spin the engine over 6,000+ rpm, making 2000+ HP, yet the system is also durable enough for years of daily driving, plus the system is rebuildable. The kit can be run with solid or hydraulic lifters. In competition use, we recommend checking valve lash as part of regular race car maintenance. For daily driving/street use with solid lifters, we recommend checking valve lash appx every 50-100k miles. Please note - when installing the Jesel rocker system with hydraulic lifters you won't be setting "lash", you'll be setting lifter preload (we recommend .040-.060" lifter preload on KDD's hydraulic lifters, if using lifters not supplied by KDD consult your lifter manufacturer).
KDD's suggested valve lash for KDD brand camshafts are:
.010-.012" intake
.014-.016" exhaust
For specific valve lash specs consult your camshaft supplier.
Steps:
1- Rotate engine to TDC on compression stroke on cylinder number 1
2- Install rockers, torque hardware to 24-26 ft/lbs
3- "Rough lash" the valves - turn adjusters until you reach zero lash, then back the adjuster off 1/4 turn, snug the adjuster nut
4- Rotate crankshaft 90 degrees clockwise, move to the next cylinder in the firing order, repeat installation process.
5- Set valve lash using "ICEO" method (When Intake rocker is Closing, adjust the exhaust, when Exhaust rocker is Opening, adjust the intake).

    This video was extremely helpful, determining the difference is clear as day with the video. Everyone online wants to say check the dipstick or check the FICM, etc. hard to do when the dipstick was changed and the FICM was remanufactured 10 years later. Not to mention the truck was sent to knapheide so the frame and motor has a different build date from when the truck was put together.

    How imperative is it to trim the headgasket? This is something that didn’t appear to interfere upon assembly of my engine. Also how often should valve lash and rocker torques be checked in a performance application?

    • @Kill_Devil_Diesel
      @Kill_Devil_Diesel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Generally the lash won't change, the adjusters won't really move, other things like valves/cam wear, etc...generally we recommend 50-100k mile check of valve lash depending on application. If it's hydraulic lifters you never should need to make adjustments. If your pushrods clear then you don't need to trim them, sometimes the pushrods will touch the head gasket slightly and it can make setting lash accurately a little more challenging.

    My biggest question is about MPG. For a truck that sometimes sees occasional 1/4 mile track time, the street port heads. Is there a increase in MPG? With the increase in flow, does that mean swirl and tumble arent as good at cruise and therefore a decrease in MPG? Usually what happens with gas heads. And, I hear thats a bigger deal with diesel due to the poor atomization characteristic of diesel fuel vs gasoline.

    • @Kill_Devil_Diesel
      @Kill_Devil_Diesel 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To answer your question, the injectors in modern diesels inject the amount of fuel they’re told to inject. Due to the high injection pressure of modern diesels atomization is quite good, and the swirl is improved throughout the rpm range, so there’s no downside, these aren’t exclusively a high RPM product, they work very well, in fact they were designed for street used vehicles, it’s just a bonus that they’re tough enough to handle the 1800hp KC turbo’s drag truck. So, while it is possible to see some added mpg because the fuel is being burned more efficiently, under the same conditions etc etc, we don’t specifically market them as a fuel mileage improver just because there are so many other variables. Cylinder filling is way better across the board, meaning more oxygen content and delivered in a more efficient way, so you’ll be burning more of the fuel you’re injecting instead of leaving black smoke behind.

      @@Kill_Devil_Diesel Thank you for your very well thought out answer. I think that answered my question fully. I was initially of the opinion that the more air, the better, and it would be. Just wasnt sure if it was at the expense of swirl. I cant see any downsides to getting a set of these heads. And, if there is a improvement in swirl, and flow, then there has to be a improvement in MPG. After I get these next couple trucks done, if I can get the money together Ill test that.

    Can I still get the pistons delipped and everything for my 6.4 powerstroke as well as ceramic coated, or does that not matter?

    • @Kill_Devil_Diesel
      @Kill_Devil_Diesel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We can still delip and machine and coat the aluminum pistons, no problem...the steel piston design doesn’t have a ‘lip’ to begin with and because they’re steel they really don’t need to have the crown coated, but we can, no problem. They come with a skirt coating on them, Mahle’s Grafal coating that has come on their diesel pistons for years.
