So, I decided to ask some of the industry leaders those questions and have them tell you why they do it. I did a video earlier that is for viewing on why I do what I do. In this quick video, we wanted to let out clients see first hand how bad the normally gentle river normally is during this time of year. Heavy snow still in the high country, snow still happening just days ago in the high country and heavy rains everyday has kept the river at full capacity, which is fed by all the side streams that are over capacity.

    Nice rifle! I could use some pins for some off range oryx in NM I saw how fast you found em!

      @MichaelSierra-sd2ve that is from years of guiding and scouting weeks before hunts. As you know, these animals are nomatic and can be anywhere and everywhere. With the right conditions, water is a great spot. That hunt took 2 days to find one to actually shoot. There are lots of sign, just never any around. This one was all alone. Guided only hunt for 3 days is 1800.00. Disclaimer: it is hunting, and harvesting one is hard, but once found, being able to shoot longer distances is a huge benefit. They are like antelope and will go any direction for no reason.

    Great straight forward video. I really appreciate that you make sure the gun is unloaded before placing it in the scabbard. Frankly speaking, the others in the comments critical of this practice are are unsafe and wouldn't be allowed in my hunting camps.

    I cant even tell you how much it bothers me when guides walk up to the harvest and touch it before the hunter gets to. Much respect for you having that practice.

    • @celticoutdoors5452
      @celticoutdoors5452 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, sir, as a hunter and guide, that is to me the connection the hunter should have first. I helped them get on him, but the hunter did the hard part and deserved the right to be the 1st human to touch him. I have a ton of respect for every game animal that I guide for, and if you kill it, I will never let anyone touch it before you. I personally normal say a prayer on the animal once they are done with it if they didn't do it, but most of them do it. It's just pure respect.

    • @celticoutdoors5452
      @celticoutdoors5452 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bart Wellisley the 1st bull was his son who shot. After spending close to 20 hours searching and most of that was spent at last blood grid searching tons of country. The young man punched his bull tag. He was still carrying his muzzleloader, because he did have a bear tag. The father definitely missed the 1st bull, as I did see the bull later not but 300 yards from where he shot at him. The father did make a great shot on the bull he killed. Thank you and that is why some people should use guides. Thank you for watching.

    How was the fit of these boots? True to size?

    • @celticoutdoors5452
      @celticoutdoors5452 ปีที่แล้ว

      These boots are true to size for me and has a great toe box as to not squeeze your toes together. They are very comfortable, but if you plan on doing a lot of uphill walking they didn't do well at all for me. Caused foot pain and not very good traction in grassy and leafy/loose dirt.

      The horse at the time had an open wound that was getting ready to be treated again. It was only to help in the aid in giving medical treatment. We do not leave our horses this way as we know they need them to keep flys off them and reduce the bites they will recieve.

      Our rifle scabbards are the style that attaches so the rifle is placed in with sights pointed down. These days scabbards are made of all materials and hang differently. Ours are full leather old time scabbards. Keep in mind we are not dealing with people who are going to pull the rifle out and use it like those of us who were raised that way.

    How is an unloaded weapon going to help anyone?

    • @celticoutdoors5452
      @celticoutdoors5452 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      While riding a horse it is a safety issue. If the horse falls and lands on the gun there is a less chance of firing. We do have loaded guns just not in the chamber. Plus we have some hunters that accidentally not placed safety on and pull triggers while getting ready to load a rifle. So the main purpose is safety for everyone around.
