Boeing should've built an updated 757.

If and when Boeing finally decides on a 797 configuration and gets approved by the board to present it to airlines then everyone will be duly shocked. And at the rate they’re going it might not happen in our lifetime.

Lufthansa has so far only ordered the “normal” A321neo. Neither the A321LR nor the A321XLR is yet on the order list. Air France has not even ordered any aircraft from the A320neo family.

Boeing needs to stop dreaming and start building better-quality aircraft. China's airplanes, AMCA, are surpassing Boeing's quality by far. Also, Boeing needs to take care of its employees and stop giving Calhoun a $45M raise.

The problems begin when bean counters McDonnell Douglas took over. The 797 should be a widebody ,something the size of a 767-200. I don’t care what they say. If someone’s going to be in a plane transcon or 6-11 hours or longer the plane should be a widebody.

Hydrogen is just a fairy tale for aviation. Would be far safer and a very little more expensive to fly with methane obtain with that hydrogen and CO2. Forget SAF : It's the worst of the worst, replacing fossile fuel by photosynthesis will work if...We don't eat anymore. Remember : We have to replace all fossil fertilizer in the same time, and we'll NEED all photosyhtesis available to keep an acceptable soil. No room for photosynthesis fuel, only one earth there. We'll need to eat and travel but forget aviation at today's scale. It WAS a 20th century technology, will not be a 21st one.

At 5.40 - JetBlue has never operated Boeing aircraft. It has always been an A320 series operator, along with some Embraers.

The 777x has nothing to do with this as it is a wide body aircraft. Boeing needs to develop a new aircraft, and this could take up to a decade to develop and enter service, so it doesn't really have an answer, and building aircraft companies also see Airbus are seen to be trusted, and at the moment Boeing are not.

Better buy and use A350-1000😊

The real issue is transparency and trust. The 747 wad durable reliable and engendered world wide trust. But Seattles management have comprised engineering manufacturing all in the name of sales and fuel efficiency. And like carbon fibre when it exceeds design specfications trust has been shattered.

This makes no sense ... the GeNX1B was designed for the 787, NOT the A350. And it is not rated the same. The XWB84 has already been in use since it's inception. The article should be about an upgrade, not passing it off as a new engine.

It charts how an innovative and world beating company was systematically hollowed-out and run into the ground by corporate greed and the relentless pursuit of shareholder value. It explains how, over time, profit margins, share dividend, and senior executive remuneration were prioritised at the expense of the company’s safety culture and engineering excellence. This was essentially how the 737Max debacle came about. The 737 airframe was over 50 years old, but management decided that developing a completely new airframe from the ground up, would cost too much money and take too long. So they cobbled together the 737Max, an aircraft that is fundamentally unstable, and then added automated control features to overcome this instability. The rest is history. Unfortunately, the structural issues in the company and the loss of all that experience and engineering know-how is not going to be turned around overnight.
