1st: Gagne, Giroux, Recchi, Timonen, Desjardins, Cechmanek; 2nd: Briere, Primeau, Richards, Pronger, Johnsson, Mason. Recchi is by far the biggest snub since he was arguably the best player on the team from Jan 1, 2000 through 2004 (Primeau said as much). He should at least be on the second team. I don't think Desjardins is as big a slamdunk as people think for this time period since he had two kind of off-years (00-01, 01-02) before rebounding under Hitchcock and was often injured in others (most critically 2004), though I can't justify putting Pronger ahead of him on the first team. Johnsson won two Ashbees and the 05-06 season went off the rails exactly when he exited the lineup for good with concussion issues. Their failure to replace him summer 06 is a big reason why 06-07 was so awful. My teams have only Giroux and Mason from the post-Carter/Richards teams given the mediocrity and lack of playoff success (I consider the likes of Gostisbehere (by fans), Provorov (by the team), and Simmonds (by both) to be the most over-rated players in franchise history).

I don't think our goaltending is terrible beside the obvious that we juggle three goalies. The success of the team comes down to center play. We win games where our centers play better. We are always going to give up 3 goals a game.

Absolutely not on Petterson, he’s overrated imo. Every time I watch him I don’t see anything special, too much money too. Depth > one overrated player. Trade Farabee, Risto (even though I like him and believe he’s very good defensively) but you need to replace him with someone who plays like him for a lot less $ which might be hard, trade Laughton too. If Blake Coleman and Barclay Goodrow fetched a 1st round pick all these guys can also get you a 1st. If the flyers had just average goaltending and average PP they’re sitting comfortably in the 1st wild card. at 39:19 did you guys read the entire article on the quarter century team? The lead in paragraph explained a lot of the qualifications for getting on the list. Basically to get on the list the player must have been either a Captain or an Alternate for the Flyers, made an NHL All-Star team as a member of the Flyers, and/or have won a Stanley Cup in their career (obviously not with the Flyers, because the Flyers haven't one in the last quarter century). Ivan Provorov never made the NHL All-Star game and hasn't won the Stanley Cup yet, but did serve as an Alternate Captain for the Flyers, and the biggest reason for him being there is he played in 403 consecutive games for the Flyers, that is second most in franchise history behind Rod Brind'Amour's 484. Mike Richards is on it, because he was Captain for 3 seasons, made an NHL All-Star team, and won 2 Stanley Cups with the LA Kings. Plus his ability to score shorthanded, his 23 shorties factored in. If you read the article it gives you the reasons why each player is on the list. My biggest gripe is it is only 6 Forwards, 4 Dmen, and 2 goalies...an incomplete hockey team and as a result a lot of great players got snubbed. It should be a complete hockey team (12 F, 6 D, 2 G)

I’m not team rank. But if you get a 1st for Risto you take it. He’s 30 he will be close to done by the time you’re competing. Take the one and package for a younger player.

Cowen and Dickinson might be the most overrated players I’ve seen. Coaching was a complete disaster. Bonk should’ve been in the bumper from the start. And honestly Luchanko was their most consistent forward the entire tourney. Pretty good in all 3 zones. Should’ve got way more ice time. That Latvia game he scores on a breakaway and you don’t use him in the shootout!? Let alone being one of your faster skaters and you don’t use him in OT? Makes zero sense. Diabolical that he lined up against Connor McDavid earlier this season but didn’t play a major role for this junior team. There’s a reason why Dave Cameron isn’t coaching in the nhl still. What a moron. Side note - It’s also not best on best if Russia isn’t there.
