Wagon Wheel Trail System with the Maverick X3 in Meeker CO
มุมมอง 23K3 ปีที่แล้ว
We spent two days riding the Wagon Wheel trail system in Meeker CO. The Meeker Chamber of Commerce puts out a Wagon Wheel OHV Trail Guide. The first day we rode the Hay Flats to Miller Creek Loop, heading right out from the tiny home on our side by side. The second day we checked out the Sleepy Cat Peak Loop, only making it about half way due to snow covering the trail. We stayed at Trail and H...

Beautiful area, Colorado is a very long drive for me but after watching this video, the Wagon Wheel system will definitely be my first visit for whenever I’m able to make the journey.
Morning, guys. I'm going on a 2 week overland trip come the end of this month. Wondering of you could answer two questions for me. 1) Are you still running a front sway bar? 2) What is the body roll like with that amount of weight up high on the machine? I'm just getting to the stage of setting mine up for long distance travel now so i haven't really felt the weight on the trail yet, wondering your experience. Heviest thing on the roof will be my spare tire and jack.
Hey good morning! We aren’t running the front swaybar, the trails around us really don’t have the speed where we have felt it necessary, and not running it makes for a much more comfortable ride. This trip and a few others were some of our first and we definitely over packed and were just using our “normal” camp gear. More backpacking type of gear would have really helped with weight reduction. Body roll was definitely felt, I would much have preferred a 4 seater and storing the gear lower down. I wouldn’t worry too much about the tire, and better to have it with you! :) Have fun!
Heading to Meeker in June. Hope the snow is mostly melted.
Nice video. My wife and I ride up there as well. You need to be prepared for anything. And what’s with dogs eating cow pies? Our dog used to do that too. Yuck!
Idiots should get a snow mobile and not dig ruts all over the trails. And stay on the trails that why we have lost a lot of trails in Colorado
Another great video! So glad you are back.
Thank you
Great video I’m headed there this summer planning my rides. Thanks for including this on our list
Great video! I love the scenery that looks like so much fun.
Thank you
Yay! Welcome back guys! 😎
It’s been too long 😀 Thanks for watching
Egggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggslent video. Great music and scenery. Thanx for sharing. Y'all Rock
Thank you so much!
Welcome back!!
Thank you so much
No more videos?!
We haven’t gotten out much this year unfortunately! More trips planned this fall
Did you see any other riders and what time of yr was this? I'm looking at a run in late August. I have a 2023 Ranger 1000. 62/65 inches. You see a problem here in most areas. Did you ever get checked? Thanks. Great video! I like your drone...what was it?
Thank you for watching. This was in the spring, right when the trail system opens the week before Memorial Day. Over the 3 days of riding we usually ran in to one other rider all day. Check out the trail system maps, there are still plenty of trails for the wider machines to keep you busy. Highly recommend checking it out, we haven't had a chance to visit since this video, but it's on our list to go back. Have fun!
Where did you guys go?
Would you mind sharing where this trip took place???
This trip was between the towns of Breckinridge and Montezuma CO.
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal Thank you
Are there a lot of trail systems you can access from where you stayed in meeker? I’m really interested in planning a trip here thanks for the video. We would be coming from Ohio so we wanna make it worth the trip to have three or four days of riding
I’m also curious what you used for mapping thanks
Hey thank you for watching! We had two full days of riding and easily could of had a few more! If you are bringing 50” ATV/SxS you will have many more days on top of that. On a wider machine, there are less trails, but still plenty for at least 3+ days. We also took a day trip over to Dinosaur National Monument which is only a couple of hours from Meeker which was fun to see. We’d highly recommend getting Avenza Maps app, and search for Wagon Wheel Trail System. This will show you all the trails along with their width restrictions. Also get an app called COTREX (Colorado Trail Explorer). This is a fantastic app made by the state of CO that will show you all roads across the state, restrictions, opening/closing, etc. Have fun! There aren’t many areas in Colorado that offer this same type of connected trail system.
What happened to the red color?!?
We wrapped it, at first it was just going to be temporary, but we’ve liked it so it’s stuck
Hello, this is KEMIMOTO. Would like to know if you will be interested in a video cooperation?
Well I love your videos but I have to ask about the foot 🦶🦶
It was an unfortunate accident that delayed some of our summer plans :)
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal prayers your way !!
good trip. Where is this road? thank you.
This is Webster Pass in Colorado
Welcome back ❤️ Taylor Park is awesome!
Thank you!
Fun trail, looks like early/mid July.
Yep spot on
Was just there a few weeks ago, great place to ride. Love the video
Really glad you enjoyed it. And yes, such a great place to explore
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal you live in colorado?
Good to see you posting again☺
Thank you! Its been way too long. Hope you enjoy :)
Taylor Park is so pretty. Been going out there for years
It really is such a great place!
Aredirtbikes allowed on this trail?
Yeah I’m sure they are!
Sometimes dog needs to just stay home.
Yeah we just need a 4 seater :)
What fender flares and drone do you use? Awesome pics/ videos trying to buy one now to get my wife into doing the same things.
We’re using the Rockblokz fender flares. They’ve been awesome no complaints at all! The drone is a dji mavic air2. Definitely rent a few times and see how you like it. It only took one time for my wife to get hooked :)
We are 70”+ wide. How much of the trail system allows for wide side by sides? Been going to Taylor Park for years but need something new and preferably without trailering to trails. Trailer is way too long to park
We had the same concern, Wagon Wheel has much more 50" trails. However, there is still a good few days worth of riding the full size roads. I would definitely recommend checking it out! Being able to ride in/out of town is so great. And this is a town that welcomes side by sides so its certainly worth supporting. OnX Offroad shows some of the full width trails, the Colorado app Cotrex will also give you a better idea of the wider roads. Have fun! Thanks for the sub
Thinking about heading to Meeker this summer. Originally planned on utah or idaho, but gas prices are too high. Much shorter drive from Oklahoma. Thanks for sharing 👍
We would definitely recommend it! You won't be disappointed
Loved the aspen grove. Do you remember the trail #?
@@steveburns6628 There were tons of aspen groves, we stopped multiple times to just enjoy them. Some of the best were along the Hay Flat trail. If you haven't already, be sure to pick up the Wagon Wheel Trail System map. You'll see the Hay Flats trail, One of the days we did the Hay Flats to Miller Creek Loop.
Thanks
Hi sir, great video am trying to be there soon, is the pavement road legal to be riding the utv or no? And also there's groceries store near the the cabins? Thank you so much in advance, great video keep it up!!!
So glad you enjoyed it! The county and town of Meeker are OHV friendly, they have designated county roads that are legal to ride on. When you get in to town, stop by the Meeker chamber of Commerce they have maps of where you can ride. The Trail and Hitch park we stayed at was about a mile out of town, but you can ride your OHV in to town where there are restaurants and grocery stores. Have fun!
Great quality videography. We are new to the side by side world and looking forward to trying this ride. Thanks again you two!!
Thank you so much! This part of Colorado is so great, enjoy the ride!
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal If you travel near Montrose area give us a shout. Thanks again :)
That’s a cute little cabin! We were out in Meeker riding last July. It was a blast. Love that area! Love this video too! Lots a great memories. Great job!
Thank you so much!
super sweet ride. I like how you guys did everything very module to pack all the needs that you do need. I really wanna do the overland thing with my old lady as well . We live in Maine in the mountains with a 128 acre Off grid Homestead. But it's always super nice to take the buggy out with just you and mama With no children and spend quality time with each other. This year we made a new purchase and upgraded to a 2022 to a commander XMR it's a beast . We added the roof windshield light bar need to work on the rock sliders for a little added protection because here in Maine it is nothing but mountains and rocks. Really good footage it looked so beautiful keep up the good work folks and and keep putting out that beautiful content Sincerely the Baker family!
Oh wow thank you so much! Really glad you enjoyed it! Those new Commanders seem like such a great middle ground between work and play, I bet it is a beast!! haha
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal Yes it doesn't feel a 100% like a work machine . On flat ground on dirt I've gotten it up to 82 miles per hour so that's kind of sporty as well With no modifications done to the engine . Keep up the good work And keep putting out that good content brother. Sincerely the Baker family
What drone are you using? Those shots add so much. Such a neat perspective to see.
We're using the DJI Mavic Air 2 drone. It is so easy to fly and has been a ton of fun seeing the aerial perspective. We would definitely recommend it.
Loved that water crossing! Still can’t get over how beautiful those mountain trails are!
They really are amazing!
Really cool video! Love the drone shots - going through that valley by the river with the snow capped mountains in the background 🤯
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
You may have mentioned this in another video, but what are the lights you are running in front of the side mirrors?
Check out Amazon and search for Halo Pod Light, we have the "Nicoko" brand, they've held up good for the past few years, no complaints. Thanks for watching!
Have riden a few trails in CO...Mostly in AZ & NV....tho, I would not ride the trails without another ATV alone, even tho I trust my RZR..
Yeah that is a good point, it is always a concern not having another unit with us...
Looks like a fun adventure
It was a great area!
Lovely video, I live in meeker and go dirtbiking up there every year. It's amazing to see all the trails I'm familiar with and actually see other people using them. Great video, keep up
Thanks for sharing your backyard! ;) We had such a great time in Meeker and can't wait to go back.
rocking the Rotor Riot t shirt!
👍👍👍
Where is St. John's
This is near Keystone and Breckenridge, CO
Loved the video, thank you. What month were you there. The weather looked nice. What were the temps while you were there?
Thankyou! We're glad you enjoyed it. We were there in in late May, it was actually the first weekend after the trails had opened for the season. Temps were starting to warm up, we had light jackets most of the time.
Where do you keep your gas ?
On this particular trip we didn't take any extra. When we have, we've put a small 2.5gal tank on the roof rack.
I like your videos, especially since they are not just about brutal off-road driving in full throttle mode. More of them please. Greetings from Bavaria / Germany
Awesome thank you! We're hoping to do one more trip before the end of the year. :)
why does everybody put loud ass shitty music for there videos????
I’m not finding this on my trail app.
Check out the Meeker Chamber of Commerce website >> meekerchamber.com/summer-activities/ They have the Wagon Wheel OHV Trail Guide. The Avenza map app has the Wagon Wheel Trail system available which was a nice reference while we were riding. OnX offroad has a couple of the loops, Miller Creek Loop and Hay Flat, our final day was on Sleepy Cat. Hope that helps! This was a great area to explore!
Just picked up my Can Am a few months ago and cant wait to ride all the trails you’ve been sharing. I also cant help but notice the upgrades to the machine and the camping situation! Looks good!
Thank you! and congrats on the Can Am!
Any streams on the trails that you can stop and fish????
We weren't specifically on the look out for that, we had a decent river crossing at 21:30 that was probably more water than usual with all the spring run off. The area in general would have a ton of great fishing
@@adventurewithryanandcrystal thanks
