Around Wallis - March 2024
Tour Around Wallis Island / Autour de Wallis / Around 35KM
2024.03.26
Closed loop tour around this beautiful island, which I did twice as first time camera didn't finish recording due to battery, that's why a few stops to check, replace. At some remote parts you can see single tyre marks, that was my first attempt. All this road all the way no exceptions is called RT1, or Route 1. I named it State Highway 1.
About:
Wallis Island, also called Uvea locally, belongs to Wallis and Futuna, which in turn makes part of France as overseas territory with total population of 11K, out of which 10K live on Wallis Island. Situated somewhere between Fiji and Samoa in the South Pacific. Mata Utu, starting point, is the capital

Discovering Forgotten Worlds - Wallis Island. 2024.03.23 - 2024.04.01 Officially overseas territory of France, consists of two main islands Wallis and 235km apart Futuna with Alofi island close to. I haven't had a chance to visit Futuna this time, as I was not allowed to board the plane :-) , I will explain later. Finally it turned out good choice not to overload the discovery

Bhutan 2023 - In Search of Enlightenment 2023.04.26 - 2023.05.01 Country like no other, easy to say there was a ban on Internet, Television, Mobile phones till around 2000. So you guessed it, I had no idea what to expect, except I definitely didn't expect what I found: a normal high quality lifestyle country, like any western country or in many ways much more, I hope it shows a bit on video. Many thanks to Ghana my guide, and Sunita and Sharma, for great job you made especially looking after my lost bag (it arrived in Bhutan after 5 days so I had to fly there). ALL GREAT WALKS OF NEW ZEALAND 10/11 - Hump Ridge Track Hump Ridge is at this moment still being upgraded to business class, which is Great Walks, which translates to all those boardwalks so that you feel like in a big city. I don't know if this is necessary or if it deprives from contact with the wild but it makes life easier. It was planned to be finished mid this year. It's a different track...

ALL GREAT WALKS OF NEW ZEALAND 9/11 - Lake Waikaremoana Track Stunning track with breathtaking scenery. It is often closed and I was struggling at times to find the way on the track losing myself often, I think at the time it was the one with most confusing markings along the way, however I have problems with colors so maybe I was not able to see small red signs from the distance in the forest....

ALL GREAT WALKS OF NEW ZEALAND 8/11 - Rakiura Track Rakiura means Stewart Island in Maori, third largest in New Zealand. If you like birds, it would be heaven. It was the least populated track, I met a few hikers in two days, and overnight in a hut there was only me and one more person. It was muddy at times, and I lost gopro when jumping without realizing it, but recovered it later. I saw heap...

You seem a bit bitter. Do you want everybody to preface or include in any comments, an acknowledgement of the selfless service of Patriots 70 odd years ago? And why just Kiribati ? I lost my Uncle shot down over the English Channel in 1940. Just because we can enjoy the natural beauty does not mean we are insensitive to the sacrifices of history. What is your point exactly. Explain yourself or shut up.

I'm sure there would be other villages between Abaokoro and Buariki. It would have been cool to name each village as you approach them. Also next time you visit the place and drive through again, in between villages when you see people walking in the same direction you are speeding to, stop and ask them if they would like a lift to their final destinations. Simple helping acts goes a long way in the world of public relations with the indigenous inhabitants. I do that in every place that I've visited and during times when I needed help, the people took me in and accommodated me kindly.
