I believe the final concert should have been a celebration. It seems they wanted to avoid finality due to the upcoming Avatar concerts. Otherwise, the concluding show was a major letdown after 48 years.
100%!
I saw this Stones show a few days earlier at the Rose Bowl. It was awesome!
Their image went glam on the next album but john sykes was on fire and the guitars were heavy as shit if you look past here i go again
I rode my BMX bike 5 miles each way to the nearest record store to buy this cassette in 1984. Looking forward to hearing this in it's entirety next week.
Holy shit!!? How did I forget about David Lee and Steven Tyler 🤘🤘🤘 absolutely
I think we both know who you can swap out :)
@beerrumrocknroll 😂
@@beerrumrocknroll I can't get rid of Jani though🤘🤣🤘
@@RobC-z9v Come on! 🤣

10. Paul Stanley 9. Robert Daltrey 8. Alice Cooper 7. Ozzy 6. Eddie Vedder 5. Jani Lane 4. Chris Cornell 3. Robert Plant 2. Freddie Mercury 1. Jim Morrison Honorable Mention Chris Marriott
Great list except for one :)
I love talking rock from this timeframe! So, we had a college radio station that started in 1980. They had a metal show for 2.5 hours when they started. My friend got this album shortly after it came out. Loved it. Got to see TS in a small room on this tour. Opening for them, Queensryche on their EP tour. My hands were on the stage. QR blew me away. Only knew QotR after twice hearing it on the radio. Holy shit tho, QR blew them away. Should tell you what that show was like.
For me, this is my third fave by the band. I LOVE Animal Magnitism. My fave by the band. Lovedrive would be second.
And the sound!!!!
Still hits the turntable for me. Cowbell! My favorite track, C'mon and Dance. I copped the opening riff for a tune I wrote
@@garyheidenreich2058 Ha! Nice…It ages well for sure.
I was turned onto this band when I saw them live, opening for Ozzy on Blizzard of Oz. Top 10 album for me of all time.
WOW!!! You saw them back then...amazing!
@@beerrumrocknroll Hey, first, I'm loving this podcase. You guys are roughly my age. We got tickets in Green Bay wisconsin to see Ozzy. We knew Def Leppard as they were on the radio a bit in Milwaukee. They opened for Oz and the third band had to cancel because their equip was stolen. It had DL play a longer set. I bought a tour shirt and wore it in the fall of 81 to school. I got teased because no one heard of the band (and being aHUGE KISS fan, I was already catchin cra).
@@garyheidenreich2058 Thanks a lot Gary, really appreciate that. Man, I can totally relate to getting teased for being a KISS fan at that time...yikes! PS Spread the word and hit subscribe, if you haven't already :) Peace.
Great episode. Just received the Anniversary vinyl today. On a side note, I can't believe that I just found your channel. I have been watching/listening to all your "Rock Shot" the last few days. Listening to you guys talk about this music and your stories, I swear I have a lot of the same stories/opinions. Looking forward to getting through all your old episodes and what is coming next. Thanks Randy!
Thanks a lot Bryan, I really appreciate that. Feel free to spread the word and hit subscribe if you haven't already :) Peace.
Honorable mention would have to be Kiss 179 Dynasty Tour. My first concert at 9 years old.
1979
Damn...so jealous.
This is tough to pick just 6. Queensryche 1995 w/ Type O Negative. Performed Mindcrime in it's entirety. Monsters Of Rock Mile High Stadium 1988-VH, Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken & Kingdom Come Iron Maiden 1985 World Slavery Tour Kiss 1998 Dodger Stadium 5th row center Psycho Circus Van Halen 1984 tour Kiss 1992 Revenge Club tour After The Gold Rush. Up against the stage and grabbed a pic off of Gene's bass!
Killer list Bryan! MOR...amazing. KISS 5th row '98...wow! Thanks for sharing.
Todd is awesome. Such a talent and an amazing voice.
Thanks Bryan...He sure is!
I was 5 yrs old! At my cousins they had it and I was hepmitized listening to it at staring at the front and back cover this introduced me to KISS!
My favorite studio album. I believe the original title of the album was gonna be "The Harder They Come"..... WATCHIN US!!!!
The “Tonight” outro solo is one of Randy’s best solos period, I only wish they would’ve kept the volume up before the fade
@@vonzombo2354 Totally! Great point.
The Heroin Diaries by Nikki would make a great 10 episode series on Netflix
I agree Dirt book is awesome, when i finished it i had to take a shower, lol, the movie could not live up to the book, most movies don't, they should have done a series, love them. Too Fast for Love, Shout, even Theater and Girls had some great songs on it, and the Corabi album is so underrated, should have been a series
Honorable mentions Candlebox debut AIC Facelift Mother Love Bone Apple Beatles Revolver Pearl Jam VS
Fragile- Yes 2112- Rush Women and Children First- Van Halen Bad Motor Finger- Soundgarden
No order Kiss- Alive Cheap Trick- Dream Police Aerosmith- Rocks Warrant- Dog Eat Dog Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti Black Crows- Southern.....
I still need to give that Warrant album a shot...or so I'm told :)
@beerrumrocknroll 🤣 it's so good though, Jani can sing, such a good song writer
Holy shit tough question!!
🤪
I love them, they were my first band, own all their albums, box sets, etc, so like other KISS fans i feel i have earned the right to make fun of the car accident that happened after 83 lol, but Crazy Nights and Shit in The shade, just horrible albums, i always go back to them, but they just sit there ready to suck
All the covers on Diver Down just absolute horse sh*t
Summer of 69, never ever need to hear it again, just awful, don't love him just needed to mention this song🤣
Fuck! Absolutely Old Time Rock and Roll🤣
Absolutely agree with The Flame, totally dig Cheap Trick, Dream Police in my top ten favorite albums, i grew up in Detroit, they are huge in the Midwest
Oh my god, i forgot about Pour Some Sugar on me!! 🤣 I agree, first 3 albums all you need from them
Absolutely agree with Daughter
I absolutely understand, the I Was Made For Loving You, song choice, I don't want to like it but i do, lol
Kurt had some incredible lyrics, but they always seemed piece meal to me, just cool words that sound interesting, but Eddie told stories, made you stop and think, and a unique voice, after all the high notes of the 80's, which i love too, after pearl jam you had all these other singers doing what he did, Creed, Nickleback, The Calling, Hoobstank, Puddle of Mud etc, his voice gets overlooked, to me, Eddie is the voice of Grunge
I love Vedder but to me, Chris Cornell is by far, best singer out of all those guys.
@beerrumrocknroll absolutely, Chris is up there with Freddie, just great a great voice, in my top ten of singers, Freddie, Chris, David Ruffin, Steven Tyler and Steve Marriott
@@RobC-z9v David Ruffin...good one!
And Apple by MOTHER LOVE BONE, is amazing....and to think unfortunately the death of Andrew Wood, was the lynch pin to all of it
I love that album too...it's wall to wall great.
I agree with your Grunge view, love ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN, PEARL JAM and CANDLEBOX, i agree Nirvana is great just not as good to my ears
I never really gave Candlebox a fair shake. I might have to revist them.
@beerrumrocknroll Kevin Martin can sing, holy shit, saw them live a bunch of times, they bridge that gap, like Mother Love Bone might have, of the hair metal, which I love, into the grunge, very hooky riffs but dark
Great Expectations- Kiss Yellow Submarine - Beatles Don't Want to Miss a Thing- Aerosmith Cherry Pie- Warrant Changes- Black Sabbath Pretty Woman- Van Halen Black Hole Sun- SoundGarden Kissing Time- KISS Rag Doll- Aerosmith Johnny B Goode- Judas Priest
It's funny that the songs on the first 3 albums all sound better on ALIVE🤘
I agree with the production of Hotter Than Hell, hands down my favorite KISS album, the muddiness of the sound almost adds to the darkness of it 🤘🤘🤘
1. Parasite 2. Strange Ways 3. I Stole your Love 4. Creatures of The Night 5. Watching You 6. Save Your Love 7. Rock Bottom 8. Black Diamond 9. Let Me Know 10. Love Her All I Can (Ace's solo is so great)
Unmasked mask 😂
Your rant about camping and fireworks 😂

Sweet list...you and Jamie have very similar tastes. Maybe I should open my mind a bit more. :)
Of the first 6 studio albums 'Hotter than Hell' will always be my go to. A lot of people don't like the production sound but that's my draw to it.

"overrated as a person, underrated as a bass player"😂 that is spot on!

Just a guess - all instrument trax were slowed down to A flat etc via tape machine speed AFTER being recorded to A mistakingly, THEN, vox added??
@@gwb2012 Interesting…🤔
Interesting factoid on the Aces High video. Both Adrian and Steve were playing Lado guitars, which were made in Toronto. Adrian would use them up to the Seventh Son Album. The guitars are hard to find now.
@@VRGuy286 Cool. I didn’t know that.
