It's actually a fact that Tesla charge commercial parties more for the same part they would sell to you as an owner. So if you have the time and you definitely don't want Tesla to do the work, you'd gain something if you buy the part from Tesla and give it to your garage for an install. In this case it looks like MB Liverpool both charged you even more than what they themselves paid Tesla for the part, as well as loads more hours as they were inexperienced in doing the installation. It's likely they may have spent even more hours than they quoted you for, so basically you paid for their training + profit on how to install the compressor on a model S. Coil suspension, or any other generic work such as tires and wheels work can be done in any garage no questions asked. However, if it has a semblance of a brain and connects to the car - I'd take it to Tesla direct unless I have no other choice, as you're likely going to encounter the same issue. Few exceptions such as Cleevely who make their bread mostly doing Teslas are there, but quite rare still.

They definitely said forget the lube and go, dry lad. I had a recon engine off them on my Viano 6 years ago. 5k didn't even tell me the warranty on it I assumed 12 months and then the engine blew and told me it was out of warranty "3 months" Who the hell guarantees an engine that costs you that much for 3 months?. I'll never go back there again.

Matty never use anyone but tesla for stuff like that and to be honest looking online just incase mime went on my S its a job an average person could do its literally a case of pulling the frunk out and swapping them over. MB Liverpool are known for being crooks im sure if you left a little write up of your experience on a certain google site you might stop others from falling foul of them. Daft thing is them ripping you off for nearly a grand will emd up costing them a lot more in lost work. Btw didnt you tell them ar rhe start it needed a new compressor if so why the 4 hours diagnostics??

Everybody I have ever taken to pick their cars up at that MB have told me how expensive the place is. With hindsight I wouldnt have paid them 5 hours to diagnose a fault Tesla had already done on your service screen. Then, them getting a Tesla specialist out would have alarm bells ringing 💯 in my head. Theyve just ripped you off parts and labour. Same price as Tesla + a week off. Reputational damage to them though. Everybody who watchs this will never go near them or recommend them.

I wouldn't be paying them for the part ,but surely you are also at fault no one gets anything fitted without first asking what the price is for a paet before they order it, ok fair enough they can blag the labour etc for diagnostic but they always tell you the cost of the part. They could have easily said it cost £10k for the compressor etc. sorry but you was supposed have the conversation with them before they ordered the part. Garages always give price for parts before ordering so i dont understand why they didn't. Also as you already had the diagnosis done why waste money on a further diagnosis. Doesn't make sense tesla have said what the issue is and what the part cost , those guys told you they will charge 115+vat so you would usually tell them , ok grest you can do it for me sooner thats brilliant tesla said £420 for the compressor if you can quickly check if you can get ut aby cheoaer or not then order the part off tesla as is the case usually to order from the manufacturer unless you want it cheaper doesn't make sense none of this.

Few points 1-if they’re got you back on the road and you’ve agreed to the price what is the problem, you had the choice to say no didn’t you? Or did they just do all the work and give you the bill? In your last video (15) you said you’d be happy to may more than Tesla charge as you’ll be earning quicker so as you’d be at least a week before you can get into Tesla Seems like you’ve agreed the price and just unhappy because you could have got it cheaper in a week or so ,but you need to be on the road now 🤣🤣🤣 How do you not know Tesla wouldn’t have charged you more than an hour diagnostic 🤷

As I’m a cynic I’d say 4 hours trying to get into Tesla’s systems and failing. And several days ringing around trying to find a compressor. That’s either overpriced, refurbed or obscene 48 hour postage with someone you can actually trust to deliver it. Also ringing round for a Tesla diagnostic specialist who probably charged fortune in labour (still paying off diagnostic equipment) and his mileage from probably other end of the country or he refused to turn up. Garage really charged you £600 to fail miserably then rest someone else.

Cleevely motors would of definitely been cheaper option. Plus they are mobile all over the country.

The diagnostic is always an hour charge as all they do is plug a scan tool into your car and it does the rest and shows you listed faults. You even knew the fault yourself. So 5 hrs diagnostic is wrong. You can ask them to break the 5 hrs down to you explaining what they did exactly! You have a right to an itemised bill also, hiding the compressor receipt raises a red flag. These garages dont have Tesla specific software so they have had to pay someone else maybe to sort it out.

Matty just use Tesla in the future mate. That’s all I’m saying.

I worked in independent garage for 10years , they get recommended retail prices from independent part suppliers. So they earn on the labour and earn on the parts. Tesla are the retailers so no retail on the parts. Just earning on the labour. Learning curve stick with tesla in future and maybe rent a little prius for the week. When u out of work next

If it's the one on oil st then yeah, I've had a bad experience with them aswell with my mercedes. They done a service but said I had a slow puncture on a rear tyre and they quoted me an obscene amount for a new one. The tyre was fine when I dropped it off. I picked the car up fixed the tyre myself and haven't been back since.
