Ahh thanks for the subscribe! It's great being able to share what is over here vs the US. And it's really helping improve my bourbon knowledge which is great. I'm still on the lookout for a good old forester pick, they aren't as common here but they show up often enough. I'm heading into London this weekend where there are LOADS more shops, more than could possibly fit into a single video so there will be a few more of these to come, i'll try and show a little more of the areas around the stores as well for you.

Thanks - yes I will do; and appreciate the support, I’m building out a map / directory of all the good bourbon fan shops I can find in the UK. It’s a much smaller community here but it’s nice to be able to know where to go and look at least. And to be able to find events.

Yeah i seen this too. Although i keep seeing people saying it's getting back out there again so there may be hope yet. I was glad I made the call to pick it up.

It's really interesting here how the small store scene is. Honestly there aren't a lot, but the ones that do have stock tend to get great picks. I've been trying to map them all. A project I intend to complete so when you get here you can do a proper tour hunt.

I might have to look into that, i missed a high west tasting recently where they were all on show. What's the taste profile like?

Thanks, me too! Will be making update posts. Any tips on the key aging time periods for me to be on the lookout for to take a sample pour from for later comparisons?

​@@BarrelRollx I generally recommend waiting a year before tasting, as the first year shows the most noticeable changes, with the oak influence slowing down after that. With infinity barrels, you have an interesting option, you could create a solera system, where you periodically remove some spirit and replace it with new. After 20 years, you'd still have some spirit that's 20+ years old mixed in.

@@christopherconrad1129 thanks; the idea of mixing new to the old is one I’m wrestling with. Do I keep it pure or do I take a cut out and top it back up… I guess time and tasting will tell. Will also have to keep an eye on the ABV given it went in lower proof. Would like to keep it above 40 so that may dictate the process a little too.

I once tried a mini wooden barrel and it aged sooo fast it ruined it. In the future I want to try my own end to end from mash to barrel - but some legal hoops to get through there first and some networks to build. Next one may be a white dog trial but that's more expensive that the aged juice it's crazy.

@@yonikotlaro4758 was a way of life for many for a long time too. Although I don't think i've got it in me to be a moonshiner despite how dapper I look in an old style suit. But my own barrel pick and own barrel lay downs are on my bucket list.

Which ones? The Eagle Rare or the barrels? I know bad motivator barrels are very popular but if you join their mainling list and reach out they should be able to give you an idea of timelines. As for the Eagle Rare, in the UK, can get it everywhere which is really fortunate for us here as it's a great drop.

Yea prices in the UK are terrible for bourbon. Better to get scotch or whiskey.

Some of these are a little higher than usual as it’s a lot of independent shops so they have higher costs. But independent shops often have more variety and different bottles and it’s nice to support them for the few extra bucks where you can imo. Wouldn’t mind a trip out to the US to fill my bags though!!

If only I liked the taste 😅

​@@BarrelRollxYea these smaller shops gotta do what they got do to, to make it out there. I was lucky to get EHT Small batch for 78.95£ at the Whiskey Exchange Shop in Covert Garden for their bourbon of the month of July. My take away is that personally I'd rather support newer local distilleries that are independent like Bimber or only pay extra if it's a bottle I know that I can get in my local country.

Yes I’ll be on the lookout; they are available; need to get a taste and see. The 86 was a bit soft and light for me so passed on it in the end.

Honestly, yes, get the Bardstown first! I got my first Blanton's as a wedding treat and honestly, it was too hot to be enjoyed and still drinks hot. It has it's place and a lot of character and flavour, but early on your journey, you can get 3 picks for the same price and have a better introduction. If you haven't tried Legent, it's very affordable and accessible and IMO better than Blanton's on most days.

Thanks for the sub and yeah it's a really good price, they have great prices on the fully pappy and BTAC collections too... might be a celebratory one of those once i hit some channel goals

They are starting to experiment with some corn mash bills over here in a few places, i'm excited to see how that works out.

With a shop opening in Paris now... maybe i'll have to save up for a Buffalo Trace European Tour.

I meant to ask... how accessible is the decanter in the states? It's rare here and i've been loving it!

I haven't had a chance to try them all yet - but I plan to very soon. I think weller is just easy drinking, but I agree on the Special Reserve...

Thanks - Yeah i'm hoping some more of the bourbon mash bills make it into the UK, it would be interesting how the cooler climate aged them, I would expect they would take longer - but it would give a different profile. And thanks for the encouragement on the channel. It's just a bit of fun and a big part of bourbon for me is the community, not just the juice.

Thank you received the sample, my thoughts I like it it’s good. I found it very smooth and I can taste a lot of oakiness in there, a hint of vanilla there too. I thought it was low on the sweet side but quite a creamy taste also, not much of a burn at all which was surprising considering the proof. It was very good overall, I will definitely keep my eye out for a bottle and thank you again for sending me a sample very appreciated

I went for the larger tasting which was £35. Can certainly get cheaper tastings but sometimes it's nice to understand things direct from the brand. As far as bottle prices too, in store isn't going to be the cheapest you can get - but that's to be expected. Flagship stores like this are about the brand awareness; particularly with a central location like this. Also great for American tourists who may visit London but not Kentucky. To me as well it says to me they are really pushing / testing this market more and I don't mind spending a few extra £'s to send the message back to their head office - yes! we want you here! It's better than than save the extra £5 when ER is on Tesco clubcard. (Although i'll prob get that too!)

There was a few in the queue for sure, and wheni've been passed since as they can't get some of the stuff like Eagle Rare etc over there like we can easily here. One American also was very keen to make sure he got a Buffao Trace London branded hat as well. Was pleasantly surprised by the vokda though...

sazerac is more expensive than eagle rare? that’s crazy. i live in houston texas, sazerac is ~$25 bottle (~20 gbp) and eagle rare is impossible to find. it was allocated at a local store a few months ago. it was $60 and only sold in a bundle with another bottle…

was £8 a pour from memory.
