Believe it or not Southwest Water are entering into a deal for carbon capture which could result untested chemicals being dumped into St Ives Bay affecting Hayle, Carbis Bay, St Ives and Gwithian and all the wildlife and sealife within it. Cornwall is THE BEST place on earth 😊 love it!🎉
Thanks Susan!
......and Pasties do NOT have cheese in them !!!
I agree! I bloody hate the cheese ones
We bought our first house theree 1968...I hate this portrayal of my favourite place, unless its changed that much..Looks awful now !!
Oh no, what don't you like about it and why did you move?
Got a friend who lives near the square in st just.. stunning little village.. He’s surrounded by the most stunning area..
Yeah it really is a lovely place!
Excellent video. Going to St Ives in 3 weeks. Definitely going to try this. How far from Carabis hotel is this mark.
Have fun! It’s about a 7 min walk along the coastal path! 👍
Cant even pronounce Porthleven or Philps...
That was the secret test for the video... you're the winner!
How do you pronounce Porthleven?
The most beautiful place in the world on a sunny day-I’ve been going to St Ives since the early 70s only last weekend we stayed in the sloop in the highest bedroom overlooking the harbour-We go down for New year most years as well ,it’s a fancy dress and great night every year .
Yes we haven't got a chance to do New Years so we're hoping we can do it one year!
Been coming to Porthleven on-and-off for 25 years. After this years trip I have decided that one will be my last. When I first went there it was a working fishing village. I took my tent and fishing rod and headed to the pier or nearby Prussia Cove. The cottages were half tourists and half locals. There were shops and Pengelly's for food. And there were still 2 pubs. Now it's a tourist resort. Might as well rename the village to Pontins. All the cottages are tourist lets. The (main) campsite no longer wants me and my tent. (there is another campsite up the hill - slight trek "Treza Camping". Very good and welcoming. But a pain of a walk for someone with a heart condition). All the local pastie shops appear to be charging London prices. Same in the pubs. "The Ship Inn" is the most expensive but I'll admit the food it 10/10. As expensive as it is - it's probably worth it. The beer is equally as good. So even at the prices being charged I wont complain over it. "The Harbour Inn" tho is a complete joke. The beer is average. And Im being REALLY generous in an average mark. I didnt hate it - but I didnt want another one... And the food. OMG. The food is at the same standard as a "Hungry Horse". It is not good. The prices tho. Very price gouge'y. As per The Ship. I dont mind paying for quality. Tho I might limit myself to only a few visits in my trip. But you are not getting quality at The Harbour Inn. But you are paying for it... Such a shame. I used to look forward to my trips here. From now on I'll be heading off to North Wales/Anglesey instead.
Sorry to hear you're not a fan anymore. I still love it to be honest... but I only went for the first time 3-4 years ago
Mate, learn to fish instead of just sitting about watching ffs!
Haha, it's just not for me
Great video.
Thanks so much
Of course the beaches are superb and the sea is beautiful, but the town is so drab. If it were the Med. there would be potted plants, hanging baskets, geraniums and climbing flowering shrubs. The buildings are so boring . Not particularly attractive. I know how much they charge for holidays in St.Ives. Obviously all the money is going back to London or The Cotswolds because they're not investing it in the town. The town is actually unattractive.
Hey Kevin, have you been? You must have missed all the potted hanging baskets and the gardens in the town? Loads of lovely flowers everywhere. Surprised you don't like it, I think it's one of the pretiest towns in the UK? What's your top 3?
As one of the most beautiful places in the UK I think you are wrong in your description of St Ives.
Great short video, well done!! I would echo your point on Carbis Bay. We stay in rented apartments there every year, and the train is fab and cheap, and even cheaper for a group. Ideal also for getting the train into Penzance and anywhere else on the network. There is so much in the far south west and this is a great base. The map doesn't do this justice as time-wise everything is so close together. Restaurants massive choice and great quality. We are down in September and have already booked our favourite restaurants. A nightmare if you want to attempt to drive in but if you get the train from St Erth park and ride you get the most amazing coastal. Scenic views anywhere. Enjoy!!!!
Cheers thanks so much
I'll be there this September for a bit of September Fest. Thanks for the tips on places to see. I missed some of them when I was there a number of years ago. So excited to get back to St. Ives!
Glad we could help!
Loved this. We have been coming here every year for the past decade and have finally decided to leave London and make Carbis bay our forever home. Keep the content coming!
Thanks so much
I know where the green door is, end of T** D***y but why do people look for it?
Stunning! The English Riviera!
It really is!
The lodges were built without planning permission.Destroyed ancient woodland. The Hotel has built over a significant area of the beach and surrounding area pretty much destroying what was one an area of outstanding natural beauty. Over development has ruined the place.
Hey yes they should have got permission for sure, I wouldn't say the place is ruined though
@@beachliving depends if you knew how it looked forty years ago. Behind the hotel, the valley was tumbling ancient woodland, blossom trees, flowers, winding footpath down to the beach. The area should never have been developed. It was outstandingly beautiful. Greed won.
What an amazing video ❤
You are so kind
Never found the green door 😅 this time round for sure
Some clues in the video!
Oh I’ll have to try that little restaurant on the little beach . Yes we always walk round there 😊
Yes it's not bad... a bit pricey though
Amazing video . We stay at st Ives every year but we’re definitely going to look at carbis bay ❤
Hope you enjoy it!
Amazing content!
Appreciate it!
plenty of people do this sort of thing on youtube BUT you actually reminded me of an actual holiday program that used to be on itv in the good old days growing up.. judith charmers and wish you were here 😂😂..
Haha thanks!
Really enjoyed this video..thanks! I am a very passionate sea lure angler and have learnt and unlearnt loads over the years. The conditions you fished there arn't great for that time time of day, if it was the middle of the night and pitch black, you'd probably have caught a load. Rule one..Clear water and flat calm...fish in the dark or just before first light. Rule 2..the Tides rule. When is high water and when is low water. these are two key stages of the tide, this is when food that fish will eat will be most concentrated, the tide plays such a big part in shore fishing. Through out the moon cycles the tides get bigger and smaller and as the tide increases and decreases it creates different opportunities for the fish, usually on spring tides, there is more tidal current which makes it difficult for the small bait fish to cope, on small neap tides there is more depth of water for the predators to come in close. Most predatory fish rely on ambush and surprise attacks so rocks sticking out of the water should be go to casting targets. Rule 3..the ocean is massive, try and figure out why a fish would be where you are casting, learn from why you didn't catch its often more important than catching! Every beach in the UK will have fish on it at some point..they love beaches because stuff they like gets beached there! Rule 4..when the tide is coming in the fish will be searching for food, when the tide goes out the fish will be waiting for food. There is a huge science to this and it isn't complicated, but knowing the facts before you go increases your chances, ambush the ambusher is the name of the game. In my opinion if I had to fish the spot you fished in those conditions I would have use a surface lure or a very shiny lure wound at quite a fast speed..but I still would not be confident.
Thanks so much and thank you so much for the great comment, sorry for the delay in reply. this is a super helpful message and we'll be trying out exactly what you've said, so thanks!
Bad choice of location. Hayle River mouth (bass). Hayle old harbour (mullet). There are bream as well. You could try a rag worm on the bottom of the bay but unless you see the bass, I'd go elsewhere more promising. In the early 1960's I recall fishermen netting sand eels off Carbis Bay beach and St. Ives harbour was full of fish, especially bass and mullet, but that's a very long time ago.
Thanks John! We’ll give that a go!
Thanks for sharing, I live in Edinburgh and planning to visit Carbis Bay this summer! Could you please be kind enough and advise on where to stay, we are small family 2 adults and a teenager? Thanks in advance.
Hey so there are loads of little AirBnbs and holiday lets in St Ives and Carbis Bay. A great one in Carbis Bay is 'Compass Point' as its so close to the beach and train station and often not too expensive.
Fantastic content btw 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Glad you enjoyed, thank you
Most people from overseas don't realise that England looks like this... Thank god
Yes kind of a hidden secret!
Amen!
Very nice. I might consider visiting there. Did you go on your own
I live in the area, yes it’s a nice place to visit
@@beachlivingis it safe to do the costal walk on your own?
UK is very nice❤
We agree!
Every year for holiday ❤ Dream to live there ❤
Have you been here before?
Great summary of a clearly dangerous experimental plan. Southwest Water has no means of insuring there will be no devastating consequences.
Yeah it's hard to believe they could agree to just go ahead and do this with zero testing
Lovely film - I was down there protesting 🪧 ❤️
Thank you! And great work, it's something we really want to support!
Fantastic footage 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Love from India ❤ nice video
Thank you so much 😀
Great video young man, thanks.😊
Cheers thanks
Portleven is stunning but you should check out a video here on yt of porthlevan in a storm. Crazy footage of 80 ft waves battering this extremely well constructed port. Well worth a watch
Yeah its crazy there when a storm is happening!
Whats it like to live and work here?
Hey, yes really good community vibe, it’s very quiet in the winter but in a nice way and then picks up nicely from Easter onwards
This is where my parents live video a little confusing one shot is one side of the harbour next is on the other wouldn’t recommend following this if you’re doing a walk round and it’s Phelps pasties not Philips 😂
Hey, yes it was a very random walk so this is just a collection of our video from the day 👍
do we need a license?
No, not for sea fishing
Fun video! 👌 We're going to fish for Sea Bass next week! London trip to St Ives! 🎣🙌
Good luck!
Great video well done … I’ve fished along there for years …great for mackerel right on high tide x
Thanks 👍
Hey cool video as a local it's not pronounced Porth mor It's Porth me or
Hey thanks! Ahhh, I always get it wrong!
@@beachliving yeah no problem 😊
Last light into dark and half an hour before dawn are best times for a bass. Good luck for next time.
Thanks for the tip!

Thanks so much 👍
Use Breakaway mini fast link clips and tie it to your leader using either a uni knot or a blood knot.
How basic was the class and how easy was it to pick up, did you find it fast or slow paced and do you think you could have done the improver/ intermediate class? or would you say the beginner class is essential for first timers?
Hey it was actually a lot easier to pickup than I thought, great fun and standing up by the end of first lesson! I would say beginner is essential to fully understand the board, water etc
Great video, I'm going to Cornwall next week and am thinking of trying this out, so really loved this video
Hope you enjoy it!
Great Video I Love St Ives in Cornwall it's Lovely
