Listen. It’s okay if your answer is “nothing.” Because that’s the truth for most people. When you’re stuck in the chaos of life, the horizon isn’t some grand, inspiring vision. It’s just… there. Out of reach. Mocking you. You keep walking, but it doesn’t feel like you’re getting any closer.
Life isn’t fair. It’s exhausting, unforgiving, and downright cruel sometimes. You give it your all, and it gives you scraps. You make plans, and they fall apart. You hope for more, but “more” never shows up. It feels like the horizon is laughing at you, daring you to keep going when you’ve got nothing left in the tank.
But here’s the thing: that “nothing” you see? It’s not nothing. It’s you. It’s your doubts, your fears, your regrets. It’s every voice in your head telling you that you’re not enough. That you’re too late, too broken, too small to matter.
And if you’re not careful, those voices will win. They’ll convince you to stop trying. To settle. To shrink yourself into a version of life that’s easier, quieter, safer. They will convince you that you are too far away from the horizon to see something.
So, you have to start moving and keep moving until you can see something. Take one step. Then another. Then another.
Because that horizon won’t come to you. You have to drag yourself to it. Through the mud, through the heartbreak, through the days when you feel like a shell of who you used to be. You have to fight for it, even when it feels pointless. Especially when it feels pointless.
And you know what? You might not see the change right away. You might walk for miles and still feel stuck. But every step is progress, even the ones that feel like they’re going nowhere. Because the horizon doesn’t care how fast you move or how perfect your journey looks. It just cares that you keep going.
So, what do you do when you can’t see anything ahead? You take the next step anyway. You find the smallest reason to keep moving. You borrow hope from someone else if you have to. Because the alternative-staying stuck, giving up-isn’t an option.
You’re stronger than you feel right now. You’ve survived things that should have broken you, but they didn’t. You’re still here. Still breathing. Still capable of taking that next step. And that’s enough. That’s everything.

It doesn’t matter if your answer is “I don’t know.” What matters is that you keep looking. Because someday, whether it’s a week from now or ten years from now, you’ll see something different. And it won’t just be the horizon. It’ll be the person you became on the way there.
