    What are winters like in Greenville? I currently live in Pennsylvania where it can get awfully cold and at times not see the sun for days at a day during the winter. G'ville (THAT Greenville! LOL) my hometown- January Highs ave ~50 Lows~30 maybe 1-2 snow storms (2-4" ave) and 1-2 ice/sleet storms every winter. Usually it gets down into the single digits in winter once every 3-4 years or so, and once every 3 years we have a day it doesn't get above freezing, but that's rare once in a blue moon and cold snaps like that only last a couple of days. Occasionally snow in March. Usually snow on the ground only a few days (my Aunt used to say if snow sticks on the ground more than3 days its waiting around for another one) usually last freeze by April 1st. Most of time winter is sunny, though we do get cloudy days. In winter rain is more common than the frozen stuff

    I suffer from seasonal depression. I NEED a lot of sunshine. Does GVL provide a lot of BLUE skies during the summer months? Or is it white/grey blanket cloud coverage in the sky during the summer? It seems like there are a lot of afternoon storms in the summer? If so, does it clear out to blue skies within a few hours? Or lingers on majority of the days in the summer? Im wondering if the summer skies are similar to Ohio where its grey/white blanket coverage most days/all day.... or if GVLs sky coverage in the summer is more like Floridas. Blue skies... rain downpours for a few hrs... then sun and blue skies come right back out. Needing some help answering these questions. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance! 😊

    • @greenvillescliving6716
      @greenvillescliving6716 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sam, you've got it pretty much right on in your comparison. Most of the time during summer we've got sunny skies. Afternoon showers can be common but they come and go quickly. Hope that helps!

    • @samsprague1678
      @samsprague1678 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Greenville SC Living Thank You for your reply. I guess Im looking for a little more specifics. Not trying to be mean, or rude... just trying to highlight with capitalization. In the SUMMER... are there BLUE skies with sunSHINE... or white/grey blanket skies with sunLIGHT? I have asked locals this question before.. and their perspective seemed off to what I think sunSHINE and sunLIGHT is. Before moving to Ohio... I asked this question.... and the locals are use to that type of sky.. so they think there is plenty of sunLIGHT. Yes, there is LIGHT... but not SHINE. I mean, I could not even feel any UV rays on my arms when I go outside. And we lived there for 6 years. My depression got really bad. So now... I have to very very careful and specific. Sorry to be so picky. It is just important to know, if I am considering moving there. Especially now, coming from out west in the desert. The summer days here are blue practically every day with no storms at all. Granted, winters are very gloomy and rough. I know winters will be more pleasant there for sure! Which will be nice. Just concerened about sunSHINE in the summer months. I have visited twice. Not enough time to get a true feel for the weather there considering it was a few days. What time do the storms usually come in? And about what time do the storms move out? In Ohio... there is sunSHINE with BLUE skies in the morning from 7A until about 11A-1230P, then it will be gloomy usually rest of the day.. and then clears out by about 730P to 9P. Do you think the storm pattern is similar in GVL compared to Ohio? Again, I apologize for needing so much specifics and details. Thanks again! 😊

    • @greenvillescliving6716
      @greenvillescliving6716 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samsprague1678 my pleasure. I think I have a better understanding of what you mean. I haven't spent enough time in Ohio to make a confident comparison for you on that, but I do think I can provide some more detail that might help. Of course, weather doesn't follow a perfect pattern, but this is my perception of the summer weather after 30 or so years. The majority of time in the summer would be characterized by the bright blue skies where the sun is really shining on you strongly. Skies are often completely clear, or have minimal or thin clouds spread out. The heat and light are strong. Like, better wear some sunscreen if I'm going outside for more than a short while strong. With regard to the white/grey conditions you refer to, when the sun is still out but most of the light is diffused by clouds, I'll share some of my work experiences that I think might help give you a more specific picture of what to expect. For a few years I was working frequently providing marketing for houses getting listed on the popular lakes in the area. Often in the summer. During that time I paid above average attention to the skies. For photos and videos of properties near the water, it was very important for skies to be bright blue. If the skies were overcast or too cloudy (what I would consider the white/grey skies) the water views looked bad. In those cases we'd have to reschedule shoots, so we were always looking out. Most of the shoots we scheduled worked out perfectly fine. Skies were usually bright and blue. When too much cloud cover would interrupt our shoots, it was usually in the early afternoon. Perhaps 12-3:30ish. But we could often shoot beforehand or afterward when skies cleared up enough again. Sometimes clouds might roll in earlier, say between 10:00am-1:00pm. And clear up again by early afternoon. Almost every time we had to reschedule a shoot due to overcast skies, we could still do it the same day, because they cleared out quickly. When we had to reschedule entirely to a new day, it was typically a much more significant storm that was the cause. Something lasting a full day or longer. This definitely happens throughout the summer, but I wouldn't say it's frequent. I hope that helps give you a clearer idea. Based on what you described above, and how important the weather is to you, I'd recommend trying to plan a longer visit during the summer to experience it for yourself before making a move if that's an option. But, based on what you explained above I wouldn't disqualify it from your list. I'd say it has potential to be a good fit.
