Temperance - Slow supervised training pup to ignore chickens. Female Catahoula Leopard Dog
Temperance joined our family in the dead of winter & didn't have the same early introduction to our free range chickens as all our other dogs. Once the grass greened & the weather brought everyone out more, she decided chasing chickens was great fun. That means she's always on leash & can't enjoy roaming our yard & pastures (all fenced). So, we're working on re-training her to find them less interesting.
For this session I used tiny, high value treats, before breakfast so she was extra focused. I attached her to a long line, scattered the treats in the grass & let the dogs & birds do their thing. Should she have chased, the line would bring her up short, I was within reach, and I have a super soaker for backup.
In operant conditioning terms - the food (+r) should be more pleasurable than the fun of chasing chickens (from her perspective this is also rewarding, so also +r). If the urge to chase overwhelmed her, hitting the end of the leash would provide two simultaneous undesirable consequences for Tempy: the physical discomfort of being pulled up short (+p) and the removal of the ability to engage in the behavior she desires (-r). If I had to resort to the super soaker 😱 this would also be the application of an undesirable consequence (+p).
We'll see how it goes!

Bat Supper at Sunset, with a Cicada Serenade.
มุมมอง 35ปีที่แล้ว
I love the sound of cicadas. They make me think of summers out on the river, playing in the woods, and fishing in dad's pond until it got too dark for me to see. The cicada song made me start filming, the close-up bat experience made me glad I did!
Chatting with a Bob White quail in the yard. Wild bird calls, the ever present roosters, our cat Mae
มุมมอง 47ปีที่แล้ว
It's cool enough to open the house up & I could hear a quail announcing himself outside, so I thought I'd go have a chat. Takes him a minute or so to start replying, but then he gets his confidence back. Plenty of roosters crowing, and my whistle calling is close to the mic, so keep that in mind when setting your volume. Also... an appearance by the ever fabulous Miss Mae! Thank you for watching💚

If you add shredded toilet paper to recipe number 2 i think you can achieve similar results to 1 because the pulp helps it avoid shrinking and cracking

Keep in mind, school glues have a much higher water content then wood glue so you will get less shrinkage. You also get a stronger clay with the wood glue. Nivea also has less water then hand or body lotions. Anything with a high water content is going to have a higher chance of cracking.

Just wondering, have you ever done an experiment on none cooked recipes? And if so how diffrent did they turn out ? From the cooked ones ? Sorry but am new to this, Have just maid a recipes of cornstarch, pva glue, and essential oil, none cooked, Ime going to see how this will except colour, and how translucent it will become, or if it drys well or cracks ect, if its a failure, I will cook it and see, if that makes a difference 😬 if that fails , I will stick to the original recipe of Cornstarch, pva glue, mineral oil and white viniger cooked,!! Only using cold cream for my hands!! If your wondering abought the essential oil ,well I wanted my flowers I plan on making, to smell like flowers!! Lol Absolutely loved this tutorial, thank you 🕊💕🙏

I used a little less than a cup of glue, to a cup of corn starch, a couple tablespoons of glycerin a couple tablespoons of baby oil and a tablespoon of white vinegar… as I knead it, I keep my hands coated in lotion and use a little corn starch as I knead it… it starts out sticky but the longer you knead it the less sticky it becomes… before I put it in a bag to keep, I coat it with lotion…. I love this stuff…

    • @joycebrandon
      @joycebrandon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

They are fainter in this video than they are in person, however the lines on the canvas are meant to be light. You don't want to have bold, dark lines like a coloring book image, just faint guidelines. That way they don't show through light paint colors & you don't have to worry about staining or bleed through.

There's another that only takes the glue and the corn starch and craft paint to color. Doesnt require baking or anything but kneading it.. and oiling your mold if your using a mold.

Very helpful and concise. I tried using pure oils on the underside but it really didn’t work for me so I think pastels would be better. I’m going to try graphite under my tracing paper first but I think I will also have to be careful not to press down too hard. Thank you.

I use cold porcelain to make life-like clay flowers for sale/gifts. My recipe uses Aleene's Tacky Glue (original), mineral oil, cornstarch and white vinegar. The vinegar is used to prevent molding of the moist clay. The mineral oil gives somewhat longer a working time. It does shrink in creation of the flowers, but does not crack and split at all, though I do not make thick items often...yet, the lotus buds and lily buds I've made have not cracked, and they are about the size of your item, though they are only on floral wire, so nothing large beneath them. Cold porcelain may be done in layers also...it helps control the amount of shrinkage by building it up as you go. Blessings!
