The mystery of Sokolov's magical touch on piano
That's one of the most beautiful melodies written in the history of classical music played beautifully!
She plays disturbingly bad. And I have a diploma
Wtf is this tempo
Rachmaninov op 23 no. 4 and op 23 no. 10 are some of the most beautiful romantic piano pieces ever written. Stunning!
"Goodest" - not a word and so ugly!! "Best" is what you meant.
What a beautiful and mesmerizing piece! And what an outstanding performance. I love it.
where was this performed? curious due to the beauty of the ceiling
I'm so glad as a teenager I started listening to classical music. I don't know if I'd have the ability to appreciate it if I'd been exposed later in life. I've heard it's like that for getting a tattoo that if you don't get one by a certain age that part of your brain shuts off. I listen to classical music and think, "why in the world isn't this stuff a bigger part of mainstream culture and yet rap is?" But maybe it's like the tattoo thing...most people never had enough exposure to classical music at important times in their development and now it's too late.
The most wonderful interpretation❤
Very close to perfection - though I think the 3. movement (Allegretto) was intended a bit faster by the composer.
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊
for the first 20 seconds i thought you meant you literally can't see her fingers 🤣
You are right! I really mean it literally😆😆
This is so beautiful.
An unser großes gemeinsames Erbe. Danke für die Publikation. Wolfgang Epple 🎹🎹🙏🙏
Thanks Dr. Epple. 🌸❤️
Beautifull played. Sad that the audience sitting with mouthcaps. Totally unnessesary (cause the virus doesnt exist we are fooled.
2:44 what's wrong there? I recorded this piece many years ago, first place in Google from 2.000 to 2.015... The world was shaken
Rachmaninov is my addiction. If I listen to one concerto, then I must listen to all.
🙂
I really like watching the written music as they play. I know enough about reading music to understand what I'm seeing and to appreciate what I'm hearing from the artist. Thank you.
I am always happy to see the score since I can follow along. That is a gorgeous piece which is just a little too tricky for me to play.
Love it! Rachmaninov + Sokolov = Happiness!
I liked this very much. Thank you.
Einfach ausgedrückt: Wahrheit, die Chopin's Seele abbildet. Unbeschreiblich schön von Maria-Joao Pires "enthüllt". Danke dafür!
Thank you for making such a video.
It's almost difficult to put into words the exceptionalism of this young and brilliant artist. It was easy to tell, even back then, that she would one day offer the world something worthwhile to listen to.
Michaelangelo of the piano
Phantastisch ❤❤❤
La perfection, que ce soit au niveau de la musique ou à celui de l'interprète
Splendida interpretazione la più bella che abbia mai ascoltato. Grazie per averla postata
what a great piece!
…hearing a weeny bit of a certain piece by Brahms in A in this…!❤
göttlich.....
I am a Sokolov fan but this was really too slow.
My favorite pianist besides Glenn Gould! He's fantastic.
Yuja Wang was born a genius pianist!
Great but he/it needs/deserves a better piano
Astounding, and better than the same piece played by (grown-up) Evgeny Kissin.
Wrong.
I didn't know this Prelude, it's wonderful!❤
Shouldn’t it correctly be most goodest?
Absolutely! The most goodest pianist in the world! ❤️
Amazing pianist. But this is not my favorite performance of this piece. In my mind, Brahms is all about flow, interweaving rhythms that create momentum toward inevitable climaxes. To maintain the flow, I think it's important not to use too much rubato, but instead let the rhythms move without too much interference. Keep the pulse! I lost that feeling in this performance.
Брамс романтик..... И вообще, молодое поколение даже в строгой музыке сейчас находят столько красивого, мимо которого проходили более старшие пианисты....
It is worth pointing out the gorgeous voicing and shaping of phrases and voices that is missing from literal reads that result from from not seeking to give each note the right amount of life and ring,. I personally find that it brings incredible joy hear the RING in each note, and to listen for the END of each and every note. In this performance notes lives are lived the right amount of time and are played in context of the structure of the whole. I deeply love this piece and I find this performance utterly miraculous.. Each gesture is so right, as it fits in the whole. Such beauty and feeling.
Not only this man's skill, but the sheer size of his hands is terrifying to me! In addition to the playing with hands upside down, the unusual fingering of thirds at 3:15 and pinky glissando at 4:00 are also impressive.
That’s pinky glissando is crazily gorgeous!
They don't even sound that different to me 😅
5:22 second movement - 5:22 - 6:09 - 6:55 - 7:40 - 8:27 - 9:16 10:34 third movement - 10:34 - 11:05 - 11:26 - 11:40 - 12:25
Sometimes hearing a great musician play a simple piece is even more satisfying than hearing them play a difficult piece, because they play the simple piece so perfectly. Sokolov's performance is not only impressively precise, but also lively and imaginative, with interesting articulation in places like 0:23, and tasteful ornamentation at 1:50, 4:03, 4:17, 4:57, and 5:05.
In my opinion, he does play it like a kid: it's not the most sophisticated interpretation. But already his technique is astonishing.
most romantic and emotional interpretation
The early recording of Argerich playing this is my standard, but this performance is absolutely great. Also, I heard Allesio Bax play this live at SMU, and while there is no known recording of that, it would be hard to top it. Those who succeed at playing this piece at this level are rare. Ivo’s playing of it is very well conceived and is truly amazing.
