In Colorado we don't have any of the brown bear species. All Colorado bears are black bears. Black bear colors can range from cinnamon through brown to fully black. Regardless, it's always fun to see a bear!

This route is called Rim to River. R2R denotes going from one rim to the rim on the other side of the canyon. Thanks for helping out the people with the injured hiker. I typically have 1 save, per run there, although I've never had one bad enough to need the emergency phone. Nice work.

Nice work guys! Thanks for shooting all the video and showing how gnarly this is. If you ever go back, consider wide brim hats. Ball caps allow your face/head/neck to get cooked. Plus, when you wrap your head an neck as you did, you start increasing your body temp and that makes you feel really bad. A wide brim hat keeps the sun off, allows air circulation around your face/head/neck, and you don't have to wear sunblock. Get your hair and shirts wet, every time you're at a water spigot or creek crossing. Again, the goal being to keep your core temp low. Bring a bottle or 2 of 5hr Energy Drink, and take half a bottle at a time. Peeled tangerines are heaven. I don't think I'm tough enough to hammer out an R3 (48mi if you're using the BA trail for both directions. GPS doesn't track well in the Canyon), but I've done 10 R2's. I add a couple magnesium lysinate pills to each of my bottle refills, and the first bottle also gets a Vitam B Complex pill. I will sometimes also ad MRM Reload BCAA+G mix, and sometimes a pinch of MSM. Electrolyte mix is Lidquid I.V. ginger lemon, which has macha and green tea, and ever other refill is one of their regular flavors. Little stuff like this can make a huge difference in the Canyon. We have a few vids on the channel.
