Hi brilliant thanks give me hope get mi e done, having troulbe ca t re root new clutch cable can you help bike is honda 250n superdream 1980 over 40yrs old help would be good thanks rigsby.
Appreciate the video, thank you, but is there a slow motion/original time version of it, please?
Did you do a part 3?
Am i the only one who is still waiting for the assembly part 😆
Amazing bike
Nice bike mate , I had a 250 superdream in about 1988 . Bvw643x never forget the reg 🤣. It was a lovely bike to ride , nice purring sound , comfortable and good looking . A very sturdy and reliable motorcycle. I will get another one day .
Maybye somebody know - my 250N goes only 80km/h at 5000RPM and din't want go more. I have 36/16 sprockets, carburators are clean and synchronized and I don't have idea wht's is wrong..Thx!
You've got 400 sprockets. The 250 had 52/15. But change the front for a 14 for more zip without losing top speed as you'll never redline in sixth. Not enough power.
Loads of hours of and, hurray! You've got yourself a horrid, slow motorbike!
I might get one just to be ironic because people who were there know how horrible they were.
The 250 version had a crap 40/45w bulb because Honda was too bloody mean to spend a measly £3.99 on the vastly better 55/60w headlamp bulb.
I had a 250n for years, swing arm rotted through, needed welding, front engine bolt needed drilling out, engine cam chain was knackered.rattled really badly until I replaced the chain, then it was ok,never broke down ,even with a duff battery, and broken throttle cable, it never died and got me home.
Thanks for video. Restoring a CB250N. Your video is an inspiration.
Thanks for video, helped me a lot. Wasn't sure how to get them off the bike. Happy to now get stuck in about it.
The advantages of a classic bike are many. No more road tax, mot exempt. A vast super dream parts catalogue . Virtually the easiest motorcycle to work on. They hold their value. Fun to ride and own
Easy to work on, omg. Loads of dead space to get your hands in. I had several then years later was disgusted when the back-light failed on my cbr 250 speedo it wasn't repairable. I had to buy a 2nd hand speedo. Progress!
Pelotudo
Sounds real smooth.they rattle like buggery normally. Credit to you
I can listen to a super dream engine for ages makes me feel young all over again I have a Blue 250 super dream deluxe had it for 17 years will never let it go it’s a keeper
Please chris choose different music. Makes the vids hard to enjoy with that music blasting out
Your bike sounds like a dream lol. I’ve recently bought one. It’s a 1979 with a kick starter and a 2 into 1 exhaust. When I was an apprentice at the glass factory, one of the fitters got a green cb 200, then shortly after changed it for the early shape 250 dream. I used to have my dinner sat in the oil stores looking at it. Now many years later, I have a super dream like you, but mines silver. V for victor was stripped down and painted, engine serviced and rode like a proud one straight to the mot ( 2 hours early!) vic passed and is just waiting for the GPO to bring the v5 so I can go straight to the post office to hand the v5 in to claim road tax exempt status. I know exactly how you felt riding to the mot shop.
I bought a suzi X7 from Ken’s motorcycles in Newcastle way back in 1980. Then days later the Superdream showed up in the shop window with a sort of banana coloured paint scheme, maybe a limited edition paint job I’m not sure. I remeber thinking “if only I’d waited a few more days”. Still, X7 was still a great little bike. Thanks for the memory.
Hello, whats the intake dimentions? 48mm? Thanx !
Bet there's nobody under 50 watching this video. I had a silver one as my first road bike after passing my test. Thanks for the memories and the video 🤗👍
Im 45 and i had one of these in 1995 to go to work on.think i paid 250 quid for it
i'm 19 i plan to bought one
MOT'd at (as was then) Blade Honda Swindon? The HR part of the registration plate tells me it was probably bought new at Artdeans 207 Rodbourne Road (also now long gone) where I bought my CB250T Dream (the short lived forerunner to the Superdream). The GT250s, RDs and KH triples would leave mine standing in a blue haze of exhaust but you could cruise on these all day at 80mph, and I did! Very sad to see her go, she took me all over the country, Yorkshire, Wales, Devon, East Anglia and I nearly froze to death on her coming back from London on her one night. Oh the memories. Happy days👍
what a nice bike sounds goodalways wanted one of them when i was a teenager
Watch those exhaust studs. They were the weak point on my 400N. Felt like they were made of aluminium, so easy to strip. Was a great commuter bike though, completely reliable as long as you left things alone!
5 years, time too get it back together and running AGAIN. please what happend,??
It's been a very long time since I heard the purr of the superdream parallel twin through double motad silencers! Brings back so many memories. Love the clutch whine too. Beautiful bike
Bikes just don’t sound the same now ☹️
Motad only did 2 into 1s for these. You're thinking of the Marshal replica systems. The oe exhausts were crap.
So that's what a 250N should sound like at idle. I recently bought one and it sounds terrible. Thumpy and mechanically sounding :(
Sweet bike buddy, had a silver one in the eighties. Loved being eighteen and having the freedom to go places, slowly mind but in great comfort, even two up it was steady. Me and my brother shared s honda 400 four too, loved that bike but no arguments when we went out I loved the physical size of the superdream, pretending I was on the bigger euro styled 750 or 900 four. :-) am only small so it did feel like a big bike to me. :-) thanks for posting this video, enjoyed it. Vinny.
Reminds me of my superdream I had bought new in 1990 on a J plate. a nice ride and a good bike to commute to work, Iliked how swiftly it got away from a standstill but I always questioned why they bothered with a 6speed gearbox when the change from 3rd to 4th was same as nothing, I thought a 5speed would have been as good, but hay that's just me, happy days though. By now its probably in some ones kitchen posing as a washing machine
had 2 of these in the 80s first one the cam chain snapped 2nd one was the fishtail end in black stuck megs on it sounded wicked nice comfy bike at the time but slow compared to the rd 250s and x7s my mates had.
I had one in Silver. Nice bike fitted with Tempest fairing included with clock voltmeter hazards and BMW side boxes.
Passed my test on a 250 Super dream..
You can take the engine out with the carbs attached, it’s easier and saves some time. So just disconnect the wires that goes to the carbs and should be good to go. Same goes for the coils. The video was really helpful anyway!
Do I Gotta do all this just to take the head off
Usually a busted woodruf key is bad sign of some catastrophic dead hault. In lawnmowers it's blade hit rock/ect.. Hard to say what situation happened on this bike. Glad it survived.
im new to motorcycles i was happy when you said rear break we were thinking it was a kickstart note i never tried to start mine because cam shaft shattered thank you soooo much
Good memories. Looks like mine back in the early 1980s. Sounds great:)
Great vid, very useful. Thanks for taking the trouble to upload it..
The most useless video. If you're going to take the time to film stripping down the carbs, maybe don't do it from some side angle with you arm in the way. How do the springs go together? Whats the order of washers? How do the arms interlock. Really I should have watched EastEnders and I would have got more.
I LOVED my Honda 250 Super Dream. Slipped the road many a crippler on it.
Xt his guy should not be levering the float bowl to get it off. NEVER use a hi pressure air to blow thru the jets......it will probably lodge any "shit" deeper into the fine fuel orifices of the carbs Where it will stay FOREVER!!!! Always use a god carb cleaner and a low pressure airstream.
Ficou sensacional......Parabéns
Some monologue - even a simple. "this hose seemed more worn than the others, I'll be replacing that" or some such would have made this video more useful. And I wouldn't have to mute that awful "music". But, helpful video nonetheless.
where do you connect that vacuum line when you changed the carb?
The 27hp 250 Superdream was really, really slow and heavy even by the standards of the day. Not surprising as it was hauling around the same weight as the 43hp 400 Superdream. A long time ago a friend had a one he was selling . What a huge disappointment when I rode it. It had the same performance as my CB125T2. CB250RS was a better bike, lighter and handled better.
Mike Emerson yeah i had one in 1980, my mate bought the yamaha RD250 LC and always left me behind
Got one of these in the process of turning it into a cafe racer it hadnt run for 12 years changed the plugs fresh oil and cleaned the carbs it fired straight up cnt wait to get it finshed and get it out on the road
Goes and sounds really well....you must be really pleased....well done
Looks fantastic but the ends of the silencers should be black, look wrong silver somehow...
