I wonder how long that lasts. You could paint a car with Rustoleum and put that on top to keep the Rustoleum from fading and getting chalky.

Not to nit pick but its not a big block, its just an Olds V8 455, just like Buick and Poncho. The 350 block is the same physical size.

And for the cooling system, with that cooling i would put the OE fan Shroud parts back on if you can save them !! And for the cooling clutch fan, they work very well, and since yours is worn and out , just replace the clutch part and clean the Fan blade !! The one thing i never like and them Flex fans is that them blades can develop stress cracks , and shear off which is dangerous , so because of the choice because i seen plenty of technicians lose there eye or fingers over them !! u know me as the mopar guy but I have put together some bad ass GMs along the way.. had a black with black quarter top n blood red leather interior with swivel buckets n console.. 350 4bbl th350.. 72 Olds toronado HO 455 very low mile car everyone was scared to work on at the time .in early 90s Had a 72 442 HO 455 th400 12 bolt 3.73 posi darker blue with black interior, top n stripes.. a guy had just spent a pile of time n $ restoring it n on his made voyage he was rolling into Joplin had just barely sprinkled n when he hit the brakes coming up to stop sign ass started whipping around n he drilled right rear quarter into a light pole pretty hard.. he was so pissed couldn't even look at it n wanted nothing more to do with it n I got it cheap like $1000ish.. boy drove the shit outta that car😊.. oh yeah if u take it 66 to duct tape again n have time or need anything I'm right across I44 from Uranus.. just give me a holler at shadetree02@gmail.com n I come n see you or if u needing help I have big garage and most any tool or equipment u might need.. love ya buddy and keep on keeping on

I had a 70 cutlass, but i always wanted the fastback - kinda style. Mine was driveable, but a bondo - mania car. The 350 sounded like the top needed help on mine. I can't imagine a 650 cfm carb is big enough for a 455, a 350 yeah. I am not sure though to be honest. 😮

Back in the mid 1980's I drove a 1972 Oldsmobile custom cruiser 9 passenger station wagon 455 4 Barrel 400 turbo trans ..That heavy ole ox of a station wagon would smoke the tires off it But Man it loved gas ..Gas was like $0.80 a gallon and minimum wage was like $3.50 an hour .That car was killing me in gas ..I had a 1974 Chevy Spirit of America impala given to me minus the engine .My Dad and I yanked that engine and trans and dropped it into that impala .The impala had a 3:73 rearend ....That was a one wheel peel car too but dam would it run 😮

Id beliner the roof, and fix all the rust. Not to make it shiny paint but to stop it from rusting worse. And then just try and match the ratty paint look where you did rust repair. Would look super good plus not keep rusting. But shes yours, do what makes you happy. And posi

If you want to make it a fun car to drive you're going to have to put a manual transmission in it.

If it weren't for neglected projects, there'd be no youtube content. :) My v8 S10 hasn't been on the road nor road worthy since 2016. Did the swap in '99 on a recently divorced man's budget in a carport so there are many things I can do "better" now and re-do. It's going to get some killmat under the carpet and firewall, the AC put back in. As I get older I can't cope with the heat like I used to and as a marine diesel mechanic in Georgia I sweat all day. When I get in my cruiser I want to ENJOY it.

Best thing you can do for that car is yeah fix a couple holes but drive it and just enjoy having it and maybe check out that transmission

And , you don't have to pull the distributor , to swap intakes . Glad you've peeled that vynal roof skin off . Saved that sheet Metal . It's kinda funny too me . How those cars were so common . And readily available . Back in the day . We had a GM assessment plant In Framingham Massachusetts . Like that Oldsmobile Omega too . X body , basically a Nova You know , a childhood friend of mine , had a Yamaha 350 twin 2 stroke Banshee . It was a SCREAMER !! ( the cosmos has spoken ) Since this is a tribute car , Too your Dad 💙 Just leave it , as is . Keep it up and look after it . Just keep it running good .
