It's unfortunately a global threat, even reefs that are basically never touched by humans have experienced huge bleaching and die offs. Temperature is the biggest issue, other water quality problems have an effect but it is minimal compared to the effect of bleaching from temperature.-

Generally I find they are pretty good at staying on their own little rock, they will absolutely sting coral if they touch them but isolating them works better than others I'd say. The one in the display tank in the video doesn't move from that rock just around it, but anemones are always a little unpredictable so add with caution if you have already established coral, I usually add them first so I know where to place coral after.

Can I ask why you don't believe in climate change? My business is currently suffering because of it, does it really effect you negatively to believe in it?

​@@TidepoolAquatics Don't take offence to the joke man, i apologies for the insincerity. Id hoped to make you laugh so im genuinely sorry for making a dick comment if you took it that way. I believe in things i know for a fact, it affects me negatively to believe and support non scientifical zealotry because in the same sense the political outcome of this 'believe the experts" rubbish affects other peoples businesses, such as the major affect Cvid had on small businesses worldwide. It affects business both ways. Its not 'fact' it is currently at best a political agenda that requires 'faith' and a lot of it. Thats not science by definition. Furthermore, Australia leads the world in Weather Manipulation and cloud seeding, which IS a definitive fact and is scientifically provable, (check CSIRO) substantiated by the Aus Gov. The BS of the topic will never die down and i dont intend on being a faith driven believer like what was forced on my family while living under the U.S.S.R where science was again, dictated my the Gov and any research proving otherwise was destroyed and people killed or jailed. This is no different. Do you believe Soviet Science? - So yeah faith based science does affect me negatively. The level of distress i see in peoples eyes who are these type of believers are of the caliber of people who said the sky is falling or Jesus is going to return and save us all. The sky isnt falling. If anything the exact people who claim it is are profiting endlessly from it, thats what i believe. I also believe that people pushing this climate change agenda are completely ignorant of the worlds political theatre and choose to bury their head in the sand claiming that definitive points are not true and attribute falsehoods such as to attribute the term conspiracy theory. Can I ask what your opinion is on weather modification and the affect of cloud seeding has on our oceans? I worked for a subsidiary of the AuGov and would not trust or believe a SINGLE word or data point they produce from a decade of personal experience. ​@@im160bpmplus I'm not usually one for engaging in online debates and this video isn't really the forum for it, but you got me mate. Anyone who doesn't believe in climate change at this point despite the irrefutable evidence is simply delusional. As a scientist working in this area, you don't understand the damage you do by spreading the garbage that you do, despite what I'm sure you believe are good intentions. Usually it's a personality trait that makes people support outlandish theories so you probably always will, and unlikely that anything anyone ever tells you will change your mind because of the self propagating nature of what you're suffering from, but all I can do is encourage you to guide your life with science and fact rather than radical, unsubstantiated nonsense. The word doesn't need it.

It varies a lot from supplier to supplier and coral to coral, it ranges from as little as 20% to double.

@@TidepoolAquatics the cheap corals that like bottom end. I am assuming those are double and more expensive just increase ?

@@grimreaper4801 Yeah some what, especially if they are cheap corals that I have ordered as shipping is really expensive, that is why I try to farm as much as I can.

Hey, I understand completely and I wasn't happy with the state of everything, but it was a very tough run here for the last month or 2. Everything is now clean and running much better, I just had to catch up a lot. My love for these animals hasn't been lost at all it because of that everything is much better now.

It's very strange and annoying for us hobbiests, especially since only a few years ago I could buy cuprimine no problem.

How is your lighting and flow? after you have those 2 sorted pretty well, you can start trying to aim for stability in your parameters I would be testing them daily to begin with and then weekly after you have nailed it.

not happy with the lighting. using a kessil tuna blue 360x and I dont know enough about lighting to be reasonably sure what I have set is the best, and kessil is terrible at offering suggestions for using their lights.@@TidepoolAquatics

Not really, I have pretty decent filtration and do lots of water changes. Phos usually sits around 0.08

Funnily enough I am having issues with that too. A clear coat should work though and is what I plan to do.

Hey again! The phytoplankton I use for the moment is a multiple species mix, I can't remember off the top of my head what they are now. Raising brine shrimp to adult is fairly easy and if you have a good amount of aeration, I use phytoplankton to feed them and just make sure to keep the water somewhat green. It takes around 1 week to 2 weeks to grow up.

I love copepods! But I had an out break of digitate hydroids. So I can place any copepods in the tank till they are gone. digitate hydroids eat copepods and they spread like wild fire.

That is a great way to think of them, still giving them some thought in the care of your aquarium will improve their survivability.

Reefing isn't all wins, and the loses are an important part of learning but stick to it an don't rush into things and you will do just fine :)

I will also be following that rule now, it's just too risky otherwise.
