Congrats, Ja'Rie!! It's well deserved! I'm still learning from the class I took from you last year!
@CheMoniAlt Thank you! I'm so happy your still learning and practicing! Continue to watch... more to come...Thank you again!🤗❤
Can you also use pen as a last layer? Or will it not stick
If you are going to use pen... I would use it before the color pencil layer. Also, make sure your gouache layer is not too thick when you go over it with pen, but yes, why not use pen. Make this project your own😄👍
Awesome tutorial!! Exactly what I needed thank you! I can’t wait to try!!
I learned more from you in one video than I did an entire semester in drawing class. Thank you!
@Tanya Ingram Thank you so much. I'm so happy you got the information you needed out of this video🤗❤
Great!
I wish I could transport you to be my teacher, though, i'm infinitely grateful that you share your knowledge and tips here. I learned so much in this video, your instruction and method is so clear. Outstanding work, thank you.

I'm so happy it helped you Kamills World!!!
Thank you so much I am a newbie at painting and your tutorials are awesome
Thank you! I'm so happy they help🤗
Started watching this video on a bit of a whim. It is fun to see how other people work. I have honestly never tried constructive gestures. Was your instructor a devotee of Bridgman? I was exposed to Nicolaides, well ahead of Bridgman. Which makes my gestures a continuous line process, focusing on rhythm and implied motion. Even though I haven't done figure work in over a decade, I still utilize that approach when I am brainstorming compositional ideas.
Thank you for the question, my training has a bit of Bridgman in it, but my professors didn't 100% stress it. I'm so happy you decided to watch the video, and hopefully it helped you a bit😊
Awesome :-)
Thank you!
What a small world!!! I met you in my first year of art school in California while taking foundational life drawing and absolutely loved your art gallery at the university. Suddenly your video was recommended to me on my TH-cam feed today! Glad to see you're doing well <3 Subscribed!!
That is so dope! Yeah I've gotten TH-cam recommendations from professors at Cal State. I'm super glad you remember me and left a comment😄
Thank you for your info!
Thank you for watching!!!
Amazing. Love this!!!
Thank you Deborah!!!😃
My professor basics told us to draw boxes and have at it. I’m so glad that you made this video. It helps more than you know!
I'm so happy it helped you John that is what this video is for😊
Nice job!
Thank you!!!! I'm trying!!!!
Thank you so much for the content! It was really instructive! I loved it!
You are so welcome...Thank you for watching!
Good to see drawing at realistic speed. The finished result ignores shadows. Is this a weakness of contour drawing? Please done't have music.
It is not a weakness. You can describe a lot with just line. Line is an art element that doesn't get its shine, and that is what contour drawings are about😃
So cute , i love it ❤️
First ❤️❤️❤️
This was so perfect than my teacher's instruction thank you ❤️🔥
You're welcome😀
Thank you for sharing!!!
You're Welcome!!!
WOW!!! I was watching some videos for my art class, since I’m a bit new to reduction with charcoal. Watching how you shaded and sketched out the before, the contrast and value. LOVE IT!
Taelie Moris... thank you! I'm glad it helps😀
Thank you for this. I always felt like my ability to compose a still life was weak. You gave me a lot to think about.
You are Welcome!!! I'm happy it helped😊
