    Very nice ! But no 58s?? I have my parents 58 series 62 sedan they bought in 1960 from a Doctor friend of theirs in Palm Springs. Its Prestwick gray, 2 tone silver interior, optioned up with power windows, and FACTORY AC! I was 1 year old. I was born a huge car nut! and grew up with the car. I fell in love with the caddy and in 1982 mom gave it to me. Shes still on the road, she's 66, I'm 65, so were growing old together! Lol. I do have a problem you might know the answer to. About a year ago, someone stole the in line brake booster vacuum valve! I was mad, but thought I'll just have to get a new one. WRONG! No one has these. Ive spent hours searching for it, even looking for something not original, but would work with no success. So of course without it, the power brakes loose assist and after a few seconds of braking, the pedal becomes rock hard . I remember back in the 70s 80s going to the junkyard to get things for her, but of course they are all gone now. Do you have any idea where I might be able to get one of these darn things! Thx. Oh, and I have subbed! You did a great repair on your friend's 62 with the head gssket repair and the other issues you fixed.

    Correction - there are no De Ville Convertibles - All Convertibles were either Series 62 Convertible ( base) or Eldorado Biarritz. From the De Ville Trim line there is (for model years 1959 and 1960) - Coupe, Sedan Flat Top (For Window) or Sedan With Sloping Roof Line (Six Window) - both sedans are 4 doors - coupe is 2 door

    Pre filling the filter is useless, as these engines (before 1960), use a partial flow filter system. The filter is attached to the end of on of the longitudinal oil headers thru a calibrated orifice, then this filtered oil runs back in the pan via the timing gear. So it is not a full-flow system, yet a systems that filters the oil by coincidence. In those days the oil itself was the filter and was suppused to retain the dirt particles, hence the 2000 miles oil change intervals.

      @franky5039 i like filling it for peice of mind and pre soaking filter And also making sure you have correct oul levels There's nothing wrong with doing that extra step

    • @franky5039
      @franky5039 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cadillac_Coach_Works You're right, it does affect the oil level, so you don't have to refill after letting the engine run. From 1960 they used the full flow system with spin-on filter, wich is much much better. The 331's and 365's are known for having oiling problems. When I rebuild my 365, the oil pressure was within specs but not great, she would idle at 10 psi when warm and when cruising around 25..27 psi. Eventough i added Lucas stablizer, I sometimes would hear some noises. I took the pan of, and I added a few shims to the bypass-valve-spring on the oil pump (about 1/5th in). Idling pressure was instantly up to 20 or more and cruising around 35. You jest get an overal better oiling of the engine (imagine the oil squirting out of the conrod holes to the cyl walls) and faster oil delivery to the upper points of the systems. Engine ran much smoother since. (1956 Fleetwood). Greetings from Belgium! Keep up the nice work on you beautiful cars!

    I got my learners permit in the summer of 1968 and purchase my first car...a 1940 LaSalle Hearse!!!!!!!!! Had no idea how to shift! My mother was willing to ride with me until I turned 16 and could drive alone. I would take about 7 other kids to school and charge them a dime. 70 cents would buy 3 gallons of gas and at about 7 mpg, it just about covered it. Went on my first date in the LaSalle. Had blood red carpet in the back and flocked red wallpaper on the walls. Credence Clear Water Revival had a song out called "Graveyard Train" so that is what I named the car.

    In the early 1950s Kitty Wells (The Queen Of Country Music) and her husband Johnnie Wright bought this same exact model to travel around the USA touring during their early days. Before interstates and mostly paved roads, always pulling a trailer with them for the instruments and merchandise. She said one time they had done a show at the Grand Ole Opry and had a matinee show in Oklahoma so they had to drive super fast, she said she looked over at one time and he was going 115!!! These big old cars would run! I can't imagine doing that now on a dirt road with bias plys! She said she told him to slow down or stop and let her out HAHA! Cant say i blame her :)

    Something kind of off topic. The channel Carchaeology": "Cadillac Eldorado Barn Find first start, drive, wash Will it run?" They clean up a huge collection of classics. When I see them working on this gorgeous 56 Caddie I have the feeling that they do not know enough about Caddies. That was shown that they did not even try to locate the remote for the trunk. They work mainly on import stuff and Volkswagen. This car should end up in the hands of a guy like you. You might try to contact them and maybe try to buy ths one or offer them your assistence fixing it for cash. I worry someone will damage the vehicle. I am not even sure if they checked any fluid. And they started it without any fluid in the cylinders.

    Im have a 1949 Series 60 Fleetwood, When I drain the oil filter, & suck out the oil, I take paper towels, & clean all the old oil out of the cartredge. I use Rotella 30 weight oil. It takes 6 1/2 quarts of oil, & 3 table spoons of Zinc additive. I add almost 1 quart of oil in the filter, then close the filter. Then pour the rest of the oil into the engine. Then start the engine & let it run for about two minute's, Then let it sit for about 3 or 4 minute's, then check & it is always up to enough (SNUF)

    Oil Filter is a aftermarket Franz filter which uses toilet rolls as filter medium. The Booster is the same as used on some Chevy trucks (1938-46 etc) and Mercedes ponton and 190SL models from 1951-1961 and a re rebuildable .There's a guy called Will Samples , who specialises in the rebuilding of them.
