Nothing fancy, just a GoPro Hero 7 Black & Karma Grip. Tagging along on our (my wife, myself, and any friends that come along) many hiking adventures. I don't add any dialogue to my videos, since I like to just feature the nature scenery at a slow, relaxing pace instead. This is just a hobby of mine, nothing professional, and not monetized. You get these for free!
My hobby started as a way to let my 70+ year old mother see a more in-depth experience with our hikes rather than just pictures. They make her happy; therefore, mission accomplished!
Update: I've moved to Oregon now and find it very difficult to have the time to make the videos now that we're started a family. Hopefully the videos I made get people out to enjoy nature back east!

Amateur GoPro footage shot using a handheld GoPro Hero 8 Black in August 2020. The 20 mile loop started with ascending Mt LeConte (the largest mountain measured from base to summit in the eastern USA) via the Rainbow Falls Trail and descending using the fire burnt Bullhead Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's Tennessee side. The burns you'll see in the video are from the deadly fi...

*there was a typo in the video in which the trails were listed as Tennessee; however, the entire loop is actually across the border in North Carolina. Amateur GoPro footage shot in June 2020 using a GoPro Hero 8 Black in Cherokee National Forest's Compression(Twisting) Falls & Laurel Falls in Tennessee. Compression (or Twisting as it is known locally) Falls is not an official trail and is a rather steep rock descent to reach. On the day we went, the water was a bit too high to risk camera equipment, so we did not venture close to the falls. T...

Honey Creek Trail, Big South Fork National Recreation Area, Tennessee
มุมมอง 1K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Amateur GoPro footage shot at Big South Fork National Recreation Area's Honey Creek Trail in Tennessee using a handheld GoPro Hero 8 Black. As you can see in the video, the stabilization did not kick in fully due to low light scenarios that day. The slot canyons of Honey Creek do not allow much light. In addition, there were some storms just to our north that further dampened the light. Regardl...

Amateur GoPro footage shot using a handheld GoPro Hero 8 in March 2020 at Cherokee National Forest's Bald River Gorge Trail. This was after some good rains, so the waterway was quite full. I parked at the roadside Bald River Falls and filmed it in the early morning, then hiked to the end of the gorge and filmed in reverse back to the falls. Can't put the dessert at the beginning after all! Musi...

Amateur GoPro footage shot using a handheld GoPro Hero 8 Black in February 2020 at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Virginia/Kentucky. We took the Chadwell Gap Trail up to Hensley Settlement, an early 1900s farmstead preserved by the National Park Service. They man it in the summer for living history. Amateur GoPro footage shot at North Chickamauga Creek Gorge State Natural Area on Tennessee's Cumberland Trail. I'll snap some pics when I get there. What a beautiful, peaceful place to be in ❤❤😇🐷
One of the best videos I've seen of hikes there; especially loved the shots you got at playback time of around 13 to 14 & 1/2 minutes - from below looking up towards the GOTG/camel rock area!
Beautiful, but music drowns out nature; so i quit watching!
I loved every second. I love the music. My family is from that area. I was born in Livingston and my mom and dad were born and raised in Alpine (1932 & 1934). We moved to Georgia when I was little boy. My mom and dad always wanted to move back but never did. Dad talked about the beautiful mountains and how he would go hunting with his favorite dog when he was a teenager. Mom and Dad were very poor growing up on a farm. This really makes me miss my parents and had me thinking about my Dad wondered those hills and mountains in Tennessee and how amazing and peaceful it must have been. Makes me want to go visit. Thank you!
Don't need music, want to hear sounds of the falls!😮
Great video!
Absolutely Magnificent thank you and your wife so much for filming this in the way you did..I’m from that area…can’t hike it anymore…so I really really appreciate this…🫶💜🫶
One of my favorite hikes and one of the toughest trails around! I hiked this back in the winter in over a foot of snow! =) th-cam.com/video/QkCEoSAAyVc/w-d-xo.html
I guess it would be hard to make a bad video when the subject is country as gorgeous as this but this video is very well done. Some of the framing of the views are breathtaking!
Have such a renewed interest in Cumberland Gap history. It began when I took my now 23 & 21 yr. old grandchildren on a trek of following Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail which began in Kingsport TN. We followed it to as far as Cumberland Gap and mesmerized by the sort of a Welcome Center on the right as you drive into the little town you see from the Pinnacle. I’ve since found out about the cave tours and have watched Adventure Archives hike to little towns in the Nat’l Park. I now want to take my 10 yr. old granddaughter on the same trip
We were driving further north when I saw a sign for 'Cave in Rock state park' and thought it looked interesting. Was an amazing place to spend the 2024 eclipse! Can't wait to come back here with some campgear and dig in.
Young family here from Texas kids under 5. Wife and I under 29. Thinking of moving to TN any towns worth mentioning? In eastern TN or Cumberland plateau
gREAT VIDEOS! i LIVE Iin Paducah, KY just across the river. Didn't realize that I am just a few miles away from such beauty!
So peaceful. And looks very tough near Mt. Sterling
Hey, just saw this vid. Love the accompanying music. All we need are the Veerys
Great memories of the cave. I😮grew up😮in Harrisburg and visit ed many😮 times wit h 😮my family and I have taken😮my😮wife and sons to the cave and park from California.
This is one of my favorite trails in Tennessee. It's just beautiful.
Indeed! There are sights everywhere you step. The variety makes the entire trail interesting.
I would love to know why they build their fences like that rather than in a straight line, can anyone tell me? 🤔
A zig zag fence allows for flexibility to go around trees or terrain and has no need to dig post holes.
@@Dusky672 thanks very much, that makes a lot of sense, of which it seems folks then had a lot more of than most of us now, sadly...
My backyard as well what pretty country! Back in the day I rode many horse trails just breath taking! I love it, allthough I can no longer ride.
Great video Scott! I would love a list of these falls too if you have it.
We live adjacent to the Shawnee south of Murphysboro. We LOVE living here. Your video projects are beautiful. Wish we could have this as a screen-saver to share with friends around the world.
Grateful for a more professional video/view of some of the many sites of shawnee.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing, very helpful to see the terrain as I am planning on doing this trail soon.
I love all the waterfalls of upstate New York it’s beautiful video ❤
Wow Beautiful
Nice job on the camera work. I have seen many pics of the GOTG outcrops but not the hike to get there. After seeing the hike and all the fantastic scenery, we will definitely have to make this a destination this year. Thanks!
Excellent video on capturing some beautiful falls. Very tastefully done. What are the names of the waterfalls at the 15:50 and 19:50 point of this video? I'm planning a waterfall trip to see ozone, fall creek falls, virgin falls, twin falls, cummins, and burgess falls. Im making a big loop. Are any of the falls on this video close to those I mentioned?
15:50 is Laurel Falls at Laurel-Snow State Natural Area. It is close to Dayton on the Cumberland Trail off Hwy 27. 19:50 is actually Ozone Falls with a high winter flow. You could reach Laurel Falls after Falls Creek Falls and make your way up Hwy 27 with stops by other Cumberland Trail waterfalls. Upper Piney Falls is another decent one (but rain dependent) along the way north before circling around to Ozone Falls.
@scottneverdusky3012 do you know how much time a person would need to see the main falls at fall creek falls state park? I know it closes at 6 pm, and if I go, I didn't want to be rushed. Could you see it all in 3 to 4 hrs?
@@jasonmears4393 As long as you don't do the trails between the falls that goes between the nature center and fall creek falls, you can see the falls within that time frame, even with going to the base of fall creek falls. They set up the park to be roadside friendly. You might be able to fit going to the base of fall creek falls and the cable trail to the base of cane creek falls in that time period. I'd hit fall creek falls itself and down to its base first and then drive to see piney falls, and lastly go to the nature center to see rockhouse falls and go down the cable trail for cane creek falls (if you have time). The cable trail does require lifting oneself up a small rock wall, in case you had anyone with you that isn't in the best of shape.
@@Dusky672 sounds good. Thanks for the info.
Ive been wanting to get down there!
i bet JB prickster has never seen this part of illinois
Not even being perverted. I rimmed a chick while she rimmed me, @ rim rock. Meth is one hell of a hiking drug.
Does anybody know how deep the mine goes?
The trail description he linked to contains that info. It also says entrance into mines is prohibited at this time to protect bat populations.
Hey Thanks great video
When did you visit. Is March ok to go there?
I took that tour when JFK was president. Never will forget it. Fantastic to see it again. Mammoth is so eerie, gloomy, magnificent in its enormity, and rich in its colorful and extensive history. Thank you so much for sharing your great video!
This shit is fire
Beautiful Cumberlands
My family came from there
Same
Me too. Burton was my 3rd great grandfather. His son, silas moved his family to Leatherwood, ky and they stayed there until my grandpa moved to Ohio in the 60s.
I have hiked these previously but you hit it at an absolutely beautiful time of the year. Photography and vistas are even better than my memories, beautiful music as well. You need to do more in TN. Fantastic work!
I recently visited Cave-in-Rock. What an amazing place. Great video.
Nice edit man, good music choice too. Cheers mate!
Beautiful! I hope I get to walk these trails some day...
Love these videos!
Spectacular Footage, Thanks!
I've already seen many of your other videos, and now I can't believe you actually visited a place I know well. As a student in Ithaca in the 80's I spent several very happy summers in Treman State Park. The slate/shale geology of this part of the Finger Lakes gives the stream its geometric channels and pools. The water is clean and cold. It's like a dream to see it again after all this time. Thank you!
Really perfect way to show off this place in sidelight (late fall? early spring?). Reminds me of walks through the woods when I was a kid in upstate NY.
Plan to be at GOTG on April 8th 2024 @ 2:18:29 pm, looking forward to it.
Did you make it there then for the eclipse?! Take & post any video or pics that you can tell us where to see them?
Me encanto,,todo es maravillo,,me voy,,peroo pronto regresaremos...
I’m going here soon! I live about 2 hours away so I can’t wait!!!! 💙🦋🫐
Great, Great video, the best background music no matter who is around you, just enjoy the present thanks for share this video.
To anyone who loves this video and wants to see the caves and the park ( forests) it is 100% worth it.... the trees are untouched. Monster sized, the sun can't hit the ground. A cool mist, shadows, sounds of animals. If you wonder where to stay, hotel..... go to the KY side in paducah KY, cheaper hotels, family owed, a river boat casino . The hotels most make a MEGA buffet breakfast. Good honest people, for deer hunters.... you have to buy deer tags . And hire a hunting guide to go into the forest. People get lost in there. But the ky deer hunting guides will put you on trophy size deer..they drive you in. Drag your deer out loaded it up on flat beds. And all along paducah KY, are small packing houses family owed. Who will clean , pack up the feet how you want to make sausages ect. Then pack the wrapped deer meat up in dry ice for your drive, or fed EX, shipment back home. Don't forget to tip...
