Why it was always blurred when I took took a picture outdoor😢😢
Is it worth it to buy 2nd hand if its just for casual use?
It depends what you're paying. I paid £5 for mine, then sold it for £40!
Shhhh. Don't tell everyone!!! 🤫 This is the current hot secret in film photography. These F80's (and F100's in particular) are the best value film cameras you can buy at the minute. With the advent of mirrorless digital cameras, at some point, the hipsters are going to finally figure it out, but for the moment we can still pick up high end film SLR cameras for peanuts! 🥳
Certainly they are excellent, but I can't see hipsters going for them when they could prance about with a zenit b and a leningrad meter.
@@PhotoWays Bless 'em. 🤣
I still own this camera, bought in the 90's. Fantastic camera, used professionally and just for fun. I can highly recommend.
It really is!
This was my first 35mm camera in 1979. I learned all my basic skills of photography using this beauty. I still have it, and with the same lens as this. It works perfectly. Inexpensive fun!!!
I think it's quite lovely.
My first 24X36, Souvenirs souvenirs !
I have the Fuji STX-2 and I think it is a great camera and I like your review here of the STX-1. It isn't K-Mount though - it is a proprietary "X-Fujinon" mount and extra lenses are rarer than hens teeth unfortunately. Keith
A great find my friend. A wonderful camera with expert engineering.
Nice, isn't it?
@@PhotoWays just bought one from Germany. Cost a lot more but hey ... we love them!
Just got some B&W film for my Olympus Trip. Will be trying out some shots in the New Year :)
Best of luck!
I'm shot that you didn't follow through with actually loading film. But I did leave a thumbs up. Thank you.
Does it need a battery to operate
The meter needs a battery, but the camera itself will work without a battery.
I want to get into photography but I don't have any experience or information. Should I buy this camera? I'm not sure if I should buy a SLR camera or not.
got a used 300s for under 150eu and not even 10k shuttercount with the usb rubber cap ripped off. now i have the 200 the 300s and the 700. phantastic image quality. the prices for these secondhand are insanely low now. just one thing thats nowadays negative, the weight. with an old 80-200 these cams are really damn heavy
how to use timer?
Try going to M90 and the camera should return to normal. Then change the battery,
Try googling "nikon fg mirror stuck up" several fixes come up. try turning dial to "M90"
Good review. Very thorough.
Thank you.
I hope you kept it. They're wonderful cameras and this one seems in fantastic condition. It's quite rare that the flash port covers are still connected - if they're there at all. The only real flaw with the MX is that the shutter speed dial is too stiff to really use with your index finger while your eye is at the finder. You learn to pinch with the thumb and forefinger while still keeping your eye to the finder. But it never ceases to be a bit awkward tbh (source: I've used one since 1994). Edit: and I should mention that it may have the biggest, highest magnification viewfinder on any SLR ever.
It's a great camera, and still lives in my small pentax collection.
I was just given this camera (without the data back or the "panoramic" thing, but same name printed on the body) along with three zoom lenses for free. And two (certainly thoroughly expired) rolls of print film. I’ll definitely get new batteries and shoot a roll to see if it works alright. Aaaah... the technology of yesteryear. As someone born in 1990, this kind of tech has a special meaning to me because on one hand, the late 90s were SO long ago and I was a little kid, but on the other hand... some pretty revolutionary technology was underway. I witnessed the transition into the digital age WHILE growing up. Most of the tech from back then (much of which doesn’t work anymore anyway) isn’t something I’d actually use, but this camera may find some use for me. Thanks for talking me through this camera, and also some Minolta history! =)
A very reliable camera Even some prestige cameras have quirks There don't seem any with this A stuck shutter if it's been impacted is easy to rectify A very rugged simple camera for the amateur photographer
A very young Phil Daniels !! Great camera too
It seems like a few years ago to me, but it was really quite a long time ago!
The Japanese don't like the number 4 they think it brings bad luck.
I have a Nikon F4. There is a Nikon D4 and a Nikon D40.
Good grief, the pics are amazing !
They are, but I'm biased.
Sturdier build than majority of 35mm analog cameras.
It's a great little camera.
Digital took over... But that's really very very good and cheap camera. F65 is even cheaper and still very good.
F 501 not reccomended as earlier A/F ( nikon) cameras were a bit of a disaster But the F301 is great!
I have the same camera, but instead of a Tessar, it has a Pentacon Auto f 1.8 50 mm lens. To my mind this is a perfect beginner camera for film photography. The other cool feature of Praktica L series cameras like the MTL 5 B is the PL (Pentacon Loading) system for easier loading of film.
Hi, I have this camera, I have film for it and batteries, but it is not working. the green light is off. maybe there are some tips, what else can be done with it?
The D300s will only fire at 7 frames a second in jpeg, in raw it's about 2.5 frames a second
Thanks.
I couldn't spot the link ?
posted a year ago, have you experienced any issues with it? - i'm thinking about getting one to put in the local fields around me
Hi. I think it's brilliant. Never let me down. THe blue tooth range isn't great, but I can connect from the other end of the house.
Bonjour. Comment utiliser le télémètre sur cet appareil photo ?. Merci d'avance. Florin
When you focus the lens you will see the rangefinder move. When you see just 1 image, it's in focus.
Looks very nice. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching!
Do i need to set the aperture when taking pictures without flash?
No. The camera will do everything in daylight.
I love this camera.
Me too.
Sadly the glass has fallen in so will stop the needle giving a true reading. My Master 5 has same problem it failed in the early 70's when I worked in electronics factory and one of they guys in the mold shop got it open for me and I glued it back but that has bow failed again, so now I use Euro Master, still very good.
Just found my this exact camera that my mum used to use in the 90's. I love film pictures, so i'm pretty stoked that my mum and i found it. i've just bought some film and a new battery for it. would you recommend just the basic 'program' settings for it? i'm not too experienced on all the different settings to use haha but so glad i found this video to give me some insight on all the different mechanics!
Glad it was of help.
Can you put a timestamp on the photos?

just got one of these, do u happen to know if the lens is plastic or glass?
glass.
wondering if still possible to get replacement for battrery and film for this. I bought one biaccident trying to buy just the lens a while back.
Yes, both are available. Just Google the battery and 35mm film is widely available.
I guess its for the left eye if you absolutely have to have the entire thing in front of your face? My mom has one of these, its rather comfortable to just hold the viewfinder up to your right eye...
ty for this !!
:)
Yeah, I know you said the Blad 500 is the best camera in the world ... but I'd go with the Trip 35. I wouldn't expect the Blad 500 to have survived what I've put my Trip through and it still works as well as day I bought it, secondhand for £12, in 1990. Get a lens cover to protect that selenium cell. Watch out for the wee red flag that tells you you've not wound it on or the light is too low for shooting, in which case the shutter release won't work. Its only got two automatic shutter speeds (medium and slow); perfect for catching Hippopotamuses in flight.
Probably would have been worth sacrificing 1 shot just to check film speed. I accidentally opened the back of my Trip the other day after 6 shots and incredibly only 1 shot was lost!
Hello! Just got my first camera & am wondering what kind of film it takes and where I can get it online?
What camera did you get?
The Pentax SLR models prior to the Spotmatic's introduction in 1964 were some of the best built and ergonomic cameras of their day. The Spotmatic continued those qualities. Pentax offered lenses as good as any of their time. However, in order to avoid orphaning compatibility with prior models, Pentax retained the M42 screw lens mount, even though use of such mount was even then being abandoned by all other camera brands, except for the cheapest makers. Use of the screw lens mount condemned Pentax to use stop-down aperture to make TTL metering measurement, which was also archaic by the time the Spotmatic was introduced. Pentax locked itself into a design mode for the Spotmatic TTL system until the very last models had an open-aperture metering system which in turn was abandoned shortly thereafter with a complete overhaul of the Pentax line of cameras. So, Pentax was not a leader of technology in camera design with the Spotmatic, and it continued to be at least one full generation behind nearly all other manufacturers until it dropped the Spotmatic and replaced it with the "M" series of small SLRs patterned after the Olympus OM-1. In terms of TTL metering systems, Topcon was the initial developer of fully in-cameras intigrated TTL metering, and Miranda was the earliest to offer TTL metering through interchangeable prism finders which could be used on all of their camera bodies. These were far ahead of TTL systems offered by Nikon, Canon, Pentax, and other better known makers. Conclusion: While offering many virtues, Pentax Spotmatics were very much not technical leaders of their day, just very well-made cameras of ordinary design with excellent lenses.
Great camera, has all you want! Only gripe I have is no shutter lock, so it's easy to accidentally fire a shot off. Very solidly built. Your one needs the wind lever return spring attended to.
It's not actually my camera. It was donated to a local charity. But you're right, of course. The charity won't fix it - just make bidder aware of the issue.
do you know how to fix the flash button? it says “speedlight is in closed position”
You should be able to lift the flash manually.
I remember when I picked mine up in the thrift store for the first time, how heavy it is. Even remarked to my wife about it. Made her hold it. Pretty great camera though.
It's certainly a hefty bit of kit.
