Can you tell me how you attach the phone to the Pocket 3. Thanks. I'm enjoying this series.
🤸🏼♂🤸🏼♂🤸🏼♂🤸🏼♂🤸🏼♂🤸🏼♂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like your videos. Can you tell me the setup that allows the phone to be attached. Thanks.
Very useful, thank you. I’ve just found your channel and subbed 🤗
This is the tutorial I’ve been looking for, thank you!!🤜🏽🤛🏽💪🏾💯👍🏾
Just have the pocket 3 track something in the distance. It should be much smoother now.
I noticed (at time 3:18) you were holding the stabiliser at an angle. You must hold the stabiliser handle vertically. The stabiliser bars need to then be adjusted for spring tension to become horizontal. Do that then test and you'll find it better.
Hi Mark - thanks for this tip and I'll need to give it ago, I wondered if I wasn't use it right or not adjusted. Thanks!
I found it important when using the cheap stabiliser to set the spring tension to either the second or third notch from the top of the device. Since doing that I am getting really good results.
Hi there, thanks for this tip I thought I may not have it adjusted correctly - I have the Scotty version now so will try on that
Interesting possibilities. Is there a cell phone holder that could be attached to the bottom of a long selfie stick, so the Osmo pocket 3 can be atop the selfie stick, and you could easily see/control gimbal with the phone app? I'm not familiar with the various common adapters and their names, like the first one you showed, so a link would be helpful.
Hi! That's a great idea - yes you could put a Ball Mount Tripod adaptor on the end of a selfie stick, something similar to this: amzn.to/3OYVxwC and then a Spring Phone Holder like this amzn.to/3DfzyyV screwed onto that to hold the phone - then the Pocket 3 mounted at the top of the selfie stick would allow controlling the gimbal from a distance.
happy to come across this. It helps.
Hi Justin and Leah, thanks for watching and pleased it was useful for you!
Excellent video, not like some that spend most of the time talking rubbish.
Hi David, thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!
Great, thanks, this video solved a problem so easily..
Hi David, this is great news it has helped you out!
I have watched a ton of videos about the mobile 6 modes and this has to be the best one for beginners I have seen. I would rename it "Gimbal modes for dummies" (which I am). Well done and thank you
Hi @miltylap9977 thanks so much for this lovely comment and feedback, really appreciated. There are no dummies in my school, just beginners and we are all beginners at the beginning 😀 I have a couple of follow on videos which may be of interest as well to help on your learning journey. Very pleased that it has helped you. Thanks for the title tip as well.
@@CinematicGimbalSchool I have already watched your other videos and they are equally as good so many thanks for them.Still the best I have found on tinternet.Well done and thanks for your help
why doesn't it have a completely locked mode tho?
Hi - there is a fully locked mode which can be accessed by pressing and holding down the joystick and a lock symbol should appear. It's probably the least useful mode out of all of them I'd say.
@@CinematicGimbalSchoollol, yes I’m aware. What I’m really saying is without having to hold down anything. FYI handheld style shooting can be very useful for many. Cheers
@@hellohogo Hi - I see what you mean. Yes Pocket 2 had a toggle button to access the locked mode on/off and Pocket has to be held down which is annoying and fiddly,
Your videos are amazing. I'm a pretty lost how to use OM6 and your 2 videos helped me a looooooot.
Hi Pablo, thanks so much! Really pleased that you found this video useful on basic moves. I'll shortly be posting a follow on video for the next stage of moves, using rotation in a week or two which I hope you might also find useful. Thanks again for watching!
We've not used the gimbal much since we bought. This will make using it easier, so its not gathering dust!
Hi there, yes admit my gadgets often sit in the cupboard and it's great when they get a chance to come out and learn something about them. Best wishes!
Thanks for doing the videos 👍
Hi there, thanks and glad you find these useful!
FPV Inverted is the easiest and most useful mode for me. It feels the most natural of all the modes
Hi there, thanks and glad it was useful for you, best wishes!
For best results, just learn how to walk with the camera. No "special" stabilizer necessary
I find the ninja walk tiring over long distances, plus look like a baffoon when doing it. Mind, a contraption like a stabilizer probably looks even more weird!
Great stuff ❤❤❤
New sub mate
Hi Ash, thanks so much for the sub and pleased the videos are useful to you!
Thanks, mate Good informative video
Nice idea but defeats the purpose
Hi - I assume you mean that the it should be possible to use the Pocket 3 with just the built in screen. Indeed, though sometimes, it's nicer to have a larger screen when filming specially setting the focus etc or when eyesight not so good
I feel like that adds way too much weight and bulk. The nice thing about the Pocket 3 is it's small and light.
Hi there, yes indeed it adds bulk to the camera and the Pocket 3 is meant to remain small. Sometimes though for tricking filming shots, or when focusing, or tricky angles, having a phone helps. I don't recommend using it all the time, just with special situations.
Thanks for the tips!
Thanks very much! 🎉
Hi thanks so much for watching!
I was surprised with the results using the selfie stick. Thanks for the video
Hi David, were you surprised in that you thought the selfie stick would be more smoother or the other way around?
Very helpful. Thank you!
Hi Christian, thanks so much in return for watching!
If you hold the trigger you get lock mode, does that count as number 5? Thanks for explaining the differences.
Hi - yes it could be classified as another gimbal mode, though it's kind of specialist and I've not really found many real situations when it's actually very useful. Have you used it much?
How to spinshot mode
Tilta just came out with the hydra mini, with an isolating head, or you could use a mutli axis gimbal like the ronin 3 mini Or cheaper versions I the hochem has a 3 axis gimbal for about 99bucks
Interesting question and test. What about a small gimbal?
That's a good idea - i did balancing it on a Crane M2S but it's too top heavy to get it to balance.
How about lashing a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 & selfie stick to a bike & walking it while you film. Could work on smooth pavement or a flat lawn. Also DJI needs to have an ease in & out when panning with the joystick via the app.
I’ve attached my OP3 on my mobile gimbal (insta 360 flow) and it’s works perfectly great results all the time
Hi, interesting thanks for this tip. I will give this a go 😀
@vizrod5802 Great to know! How are you attaching the Pocket 3 to the Flow, and are you using the battery handle (or providing power from an external source to the P3)?
@@jessicaf6358 I’m using the external source and I’ve attached the OP3 on the 360 clamp with on of those bike light rubber bands thingys 👍🏻
wish u made a comparison with regular fpv
Sup, just a Question, can you upload in 4k? As in render videos in 1440p or 2160p Your channel has good info but video quality could be even better if upload in 4k (yes even if video is 1080p render in 4k so quality is better on TH-cam) Keep it up, I found your gimbal tips quite helpful, have the Hohem I steady V4 pro my self, I use it with DJI action 4.
Hi! Thanks for your feedback and for watching my little channel 😀 That's a good tip, thanks! , I didn't know it was possible to render a 1080p video in 4K so will try that in future videos and even where possible try to film in 4K.
Thanks a mill, indeed was making some unnatural arm movements to get these shots.
Hi Tom, thanks and glad you find these tip useful1
Great tut, thank you .
I have used/bought a 4th axis gimbal from 'Scotty Makes Stuff' & it works pretty well, better than the cheapee one tested, but I’ve since moved on through the DigitalFoto Z-axis gimbal…perfect…
And I will sell the other one if anyone is interested…
It was interesting to see your tests. I have been tempted to buy the 4th axis stabilizer. I've heard holding it with the mini tripod (that comes with the Creator Combo) had slightly less bobbing motion than without, so I'm also curious how true that is. I do notice the bobbing is more noticeably when walking beside a fence/wall or a horizontal structure, so good choice of location for testing.
Hi there - thanks for your comment. I wouldn't really think the mini tripod would make much difference really or not really noticeable. Yes, being near a wall, or narrow street seems to make the bobbing more noticeable so I chose this location with that in mind. I am thinking off getting the Scotty version which is more expensive and see if it makes a more noticeable difference than this cheap version. I hope it does given the price. I'll probably get it quite soon and do an updated video so you can see if you think it's worth it or not.
@@CinematicGimbalSchool I have used the stabilizer and found it works in reducing (not eliminating) the bobbing. The stabilizer can reduce the bobbing when the spring is set to horizon or to tilt a bit upward. The bobbing reduction effect is more obvious when shooting in an open environment like a park; much less in a confined space like a narrow corridor. (The reason is: When the point of reference is closer to the camera, the bobbing is more noticeable.) Even many call it cheap, the stabilizer is the best and very economic z-axis stabilization gear that I have ever bought and used.
My OP3 auto-installed this update, but I hadn't noticed the new mode. Thank you!
Me too, I'm using latest update and the new mode doesn't show up either. Any ideas of why would be welcome.
Hi Scot, if you have the latest firmware then it definitely should be available on the gimbal modes selection screen, is it not at the last far right postion next to FPV? If it isn't I suggest contacting DJI and seeing if they can give a reason as I can't see why it shouldn't be there.
@@CinematicGimbalSchool I got it to work. I had issues getting the latest firmware update. All good now!
Really helpful tip.
Hi - thanks so much for watching and glad it was useful for you
Great job! Will use this gimbal tricks
Wow ! Just 2 days back, struggled to capture a birthday cake with follow mode. Thanks for this tip.
Hi - great to hear that this tip was useful to you! Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and it is very helpful to see a focused video on one single move since almost all videos show all of them too briefly. It would be nice to have some more side shots to see what it looks like with you executing the moves. I bought a pocket 3 for one summer trip and I am still trying to figure out when to hold it like a flashlight vs. vertically vs diagonally, etc. with all the various moves. I'm also thinking of getting a longer stick but it's tricky to figure out how to best hold it or position it. Thanks for the video.
Hi! Thanks so much for coming to my little channel on gimbal techniques, you are most welcome! What a good suggestion and I'll try to make updated videos showing the push forward move and the other moves in action, from the side etc There will be also more advanced moves coming in the future so look out for those. Generally I haven't found any major difference which way it is held (diagonal, vertical, flashlight) for the push forward but more important to walk slowly with the ninja style walk heel-toe makes the smoothest shot. It's really down to which is more comfortable for yourself. I generally hold it flashlight or diagonal myself, and vertical for dolly type shots. A longer stick is good for crane jib shots to gain extra lift.
thanks!
Hi there, great that you find the video useful!
The pocket has always had two lock modes
Hi, yes it's got the Gimbal Locked mode by pressing joystick, but this video is about the new gimbal mode introduced since firmware update in May 2024. Prior to that there was the three main gimbal modes only. Thanks for your comment, best wishes
Thank you so much
Excellent! Can you set shutter directly in pocket 3 or have to use app? Also…I just learned that in action cams like the action 4/5 or go pro, shutter speed needs to be high to get rid of jitter. And quadruple frame rate. So 24 FPS and 1/100 and the flicker / jitter is gone. This shutter rule is true in my stills camera too.
Hi @babyboy1971 thanks for your question and watching! Yes you can set the shutter speed directly on the Pocket 3 in manual mode (need to change to Pro mode) without the app. Very interesting what you say about the action cameras, I wonder why that is. I have a GoPro and see if I can do some experimentation. Best, Tim
Excellent!!! Just got a pocket 3 and this was driving me crazy. Solved! Thank you! And thank you, DJI. Pretty cool they added this in firmware!
Hi @babyboy1971 thanks for watching! Yes, it's so useful now, I use it all the time. It was really annoying otherwise
