American Queen Voyages shuts down, cancels future cruises amid reported service issues
Awesome vidoe
EPIC!! and wonderful
Im sorry, but this sounds just awful. Why is it all so flat and off-key? Is the steam pressure to low or something?
With the recent collapse of American Queen Voyages, I would like to see this vessel operate under American Cruise Lines in the near future!
I love how the keyboardist just riffs on various songs of various origins. My favorite is how they riff on Roll Out the Barrell during the whole second half.
No body will know how loud this is in person it’s literally a bunch of steam train whistles I love it
yo
She an amazing steam boat, " Love her... She`s worth every bit of money too have a truly unique American cruise..
The ship goes up from New Orleans up the mississippi and ohio rivers makes various stops along the way. Its very nice riding aboard the river boat. Its also owned by an american company. So is Pearl cruises and the SS Badger both still cruising the great lakes for 78 years❤
These Were Big for their time and are some of the biggest river steamers created (in my opinion)
I really need to hear it play the magic roundabout theme
heart breaking to watch these videos and see everyone holding out their phones ... it makes me want to DANCE!
Anastasia likes to ride this boat playing her calliope
My wife and I had occasion to take the American Queen from New Orleans to Natchez and back. Too fine to explain. We encourage all who may be hesitant to book package and enjoy a restful and entertaining time.
I wish they would scrap this boat and use the money to return the Delta Queen to service.
I always wanted to ride on the Delta Queen, but since she no longer makes runs up and down the rivers and the Mississippi Queen has been dismantled, I guess the American Queen is my only choice, I'm sure it is much nicer than the Delta Queen. The Delta Queen was old and worn where the American Queen is much newer.

Wow! Very cool! I’ve never seen so many people to greet a train and that thing is a beast!
Would you mind if I used the music from this video in my own video about the same ship that I’m making?
Please do! Send me a link to your video when you get it ready! I'd be honored
@@jeffronning1068 thank you! I got some good daytime footage but was unable to capture any music since it’s played as they’re leaving just as it’s getting really dark outside! I’ll link to your channel as well!
@@highwayexplorer I'm excited to see your video. They had the smoke stacks folded down because they were about to go under a bridge. I'd like to see it with the stacks up if your footage has it
@@jeffronning1068 it does and the railroad bridge you will see in my video raises up!
@@jeffronning1068 what river is in your video? Mississippi?
One long and two shorts
What a treat! Thanks for sharing!
I would like to hear Alejandro of Lady Gaga in that organ...
These lovely ships have so much heart and soul.
Beautiful
I say if this ship was introduced by disney that would be better
People in the boiler room are like... Damn it! stop playing that damn Calliope, we need all the steam we can get to get off this bank
Shhhhh! Most of the push comes from a pair of Z-Drives powered by diesels.
Best video I saw all day 🤩
This vessel would certainly sound great playing Abraham Holzman's popular tune 'Blaze away'.
Wundervoll 😍👍👍👍
This sound makes me want to turn the clock back to the late 1800s.
I love it! Song title?
Several different songs, the only two I caught was "Anchors Aweigh" and "You're a Grand Old Flag" I probably know more, just couldn't pick up on them.
One of them is the "Beer Barrel Polka". First one is "Semper Paratus" (Coast Guard Hymn).
One of those songs was "Zip a dee doo dah?"
When I lived near Red Wing, I would drive over just to hear this. Only 100 miles or so.
Is the American queen the only one running at the moment?
Queen of Mississippi and a few others too.
Delta Queen as well if I remember right
@@mcrichton46 As far as I know the Delta Queen is still down in Houma Louisiana getting a heavy overhaul
Roll on ole muddy big river roll.
Des ist ja geil cool offen Schiff ne Orgel.Genial super.Monika de Musikerin aus Dessau.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Looks far better than flat topped cruise shits.
Wow like a soung wow ver good
First time I heard this was going across the river bridge in chester Illinois, in my car, couldn't quite make out that squalling sounds but went down to the riverfront and was amazed... always try to catch it when it comes to chester... btw Chester is home of Popeye and it plays the Popeye theme when leaving there
Huh, never knew Popeye was born a land lubber, in Illinois too! He must have hated being a farm kid, and joined the Navy to get away from it all, lol!
@@truthseeker2321 southern Illinois has Ozark hills and is very scenic.. check out some research on Shawnee National Forest and you will be in for a shock (it can qualify for a National Park)
@@leslietaylor4458 Thanks.
Folks back in the day weren't afraid to make a little noise. I love it.
No better Sound than Live Steam, and a,Set of Good pipes!
Better if it were tuned!
This is actually the best sounding one I’ve heard on any of these steamboats! Just compare this one to Delta Queens calliope!
My understanding is that it's difficult, if not impossible, to perfectly tune a steam calliope; probably too many factors involved--air temperature, steam pressure, wind speed, maybe? But being slightly out of tune gives the calliope part of its character and charm. . .
When I was growing up the Old Timers called it a Callie-Ope . Now I'm an old timer 74.😁. I Love the video, thank you for posting it.
This sounds great!
La inocencia del ser humano se ha terminado, esto me hace sentir nuevamente un niño.
what a unique and wonderful sound, i like this, and the river boat looks gorgeous, we don't have them where i live, they must be uniquely American
These river boats are, the primary use was up and down the Mississippi River, they carried everything from cotton bales to jellies and jams, and live stock. They are surprisingly shallow draft for close to shore operations, and have a Texas deck.
@@kamdenbarclay486 Not just the Mississippi, but the nearly 1000 miles of the Ohio River too.
@@truthseeker2321 indeed, I live right on the Ohio, and this is a very familiar sound to me!
@@truthseeker2321 The Delta Queen was from the Sacramento River in California so they were a nationwide transport method, quite a few found there way up to Alaska for the Klondike gold rush.
and the yukon river
I was on this cruise with my husband and three other family members!!
Thanks for your message! It's cool that you were on the steamboat that day
OMG I COMPLETLY MISSED THIS EVENT :'(
The American Queen has cruises along the Mississippi River. They make various stops along the way
