Maria's sincere love of food led her on a journey around the world. She returned to her homeland, South Africa, to start her own micro dairy using the principle of Slow Food and humane treatment of her dairy herd. She only milks her cows once a day, and keep the calves with their mothers. We were inspired by her love of making quality products, not only does she treat her animals with love and care, she puts in the extra effort to make quality food, the traditional way. Healthy Cows Mean Healthy People!

Restoring Fertility in the Klein Karoo | Permaculture in the Desert
มุมมอง 27Kปีที่แล้ว
Kathryn Eybers recounts her journey to invite fertility back into their lovely piece of land in the Klein Karoo. Over the past 18 years, Kathryn and Ross have restored the land from a barren farm to a bountiful food garden teeming with life- all through the practice of permaculture. Their home and garden is a testament to the deep connection they have fostered with the land, which in turn nouri...
Changing the Way We Feed the World | Regenerative Agriculture
มุมมอง 18Kปีที่แล้ว
Regenerative Agriculture is on the rise, and young farmers are leading the way in South Africa. Van Wyk Pretorius, along with his wife Lilané, are pioneers of a new regenerative enterprise in George, South Africa. Through bio-intensive farming, Van Wyk provides chemical-free vegetables and free range eggs to their local community, with their sights set to get their foot into the grass-fed meat ...
We halfway there whoop whoop love it
Without doubt a very special place run by two very special people l’ve visited a few times and loved being there. The sharing of knowledge from these two gentle and connected people is so inspiring ❤
Great work. Thanks for the inspiration
❤
Refreshing to watch this
We have a small goat dairy here in Tennessee. This is great! Thanks for the video!
That's so cool. Thanks for watching!
The History Of Central Banking and the Enslavement of Mankind - Stephan Mitford Goodson. Trust me read it
Great video, thanks for bringing it to us!
Our pleasure!
Any suggestion book for regenerative farm production?
Thank you 🙏🏽
This is very encouraging to see in RSA! Gives me hope for the future of agriculture in the country. The more such farms the better!
Truly inspirational !!! I wish I could hit the like button 100 times
Nice, I started my suburban back yard veggie patch in August 2021. There were also no earth worms when I started, now they are increasing. My sandy soil is still quite poor, but it is slowly improving, as I also plant more types of veggies as I gain experience in my growing skills. On top of that I started a very neglected food forest in my front yard. Had some wins and lost some too. Chickens or rabbits, big maybe right now.
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🔔🎉
Very informative and intelligent explanation. Thank you so much. We love milk, meat, and cheese.
So impressed by you and everything you are doing Maria! Keep inspiring us all
keep up the great work guys
amazing
love your video , great quality and keep doing what you doing
I agree and admire most of what she said, but the horn thing is nonsense. Dehorning cows is a safe practice, for them and for us, and it doesn't play that huge role in milk quality, no matter what those studies say.
Thanks for your comment. As filmmakers, we aim to showcase farmers who stray from the conventional ways of farming, and dehorning is just one of many conventional practices that may or may not be beneficial. I think at the end of the day it's up to each farmer to assess the risks with their team and proceed accordingly.
Great to see a South African moving in the right direction, this is the future of farming. Keep it up
You are a breath of pure joy, please don’t wilt, please do some succession planning, people like you are the real hope, you THINK. The economy didn’t “open up”, the Capitalists determined to grind out the small operators. In Australia, the Regulations wouldn’t allow a micr-dairy to be economically viable. I saw a “system” in France that used way etc to feed to fowl and cheese and fowl were their income.
Interesting information about horns regulating body temperatures. Cows with horns can be very dangerous though. Even if a cow ain’t mean, they can “playfully” butt you with their head and severely gore you! In the old days, some farmers would attach a small ball to the tips of each horn.
Love love love. Thank you for what you are doing. I’m a small scale vegetable producer following organic and recently biodynamic practices.

I am an Australian woman living in Tasmania the smallest state.. I really respect what you are doing, especially retaining the animals' horns for sound reasons. And most particularly keeping the cows with their calves and generally respecting your animals. I do not drink dairy products as I am horrified by the dairy industry generally. I use nut milks and coconut yoghurt. I am stopping eating of cows' cheese now. Best wishes and thank you for showing how your farm works.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Wow. Who ever thought living "Natural" would be considered a "thing" from the "past". We are so disconnected.
So disconnected
It challenges consumer norms. I don't know anyone wanting to milk their own cow. Good luck. Stay safe.
then they don't really want the milk, its just convenient. Same with meat
Thank you, Maria🐂❤
Is it possible to visit this farm?
Yes, Maria does butter workshops and the farm has an apple harvest festival once a year. Check out her links in the description.
So how big is the farm?
SUPER. Groete from Andalusia Spain
Brilliant vid!! More of these please 😍 so educational!
Yay! Glad to see more examples of small scale agriculture. Good luck!
I love what you are doing! Your emphasis on connection. And I love to see your respect for the cows 🤍🤍🤍 Industrial farming is heartbreaking 💔
Beautiful!
Love this so much! Maria & her team are incredible !
Please make more videos! I love what you guys are doing. I think South Africa has so many small interesting biodynamic projects dotted around that we have yet to hear about.
Thank you for your continued support! Please spread the word, the more support we get the more videos we can make ❤️
🤗🤠🙌
Beautiful, baie dankie for sharing.
Love your work! Hope to visit your farm soon...
I totally agree about the more smaller farms concept, currently I grow most of the veggies I eat on my small urban stand. So far l have successfully grown garlic, onions, leeks, green beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet red/green peppers, jalapenos, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lettuce, butternut, pumpkin, spinach, basil and a number of herbs. It teaches you to eat what is in season, so you benefit from a varied diet too.
Great story, so positive.
Very Inspiring to see!
