Hi!
Thanks for stopping by to have a look - and I can tell that you are very much into aviation because the content I publish isn't optimised for picking up casual views from the average Joe!
This channel mainly serves as a platform to host videos that I've created as part of an aviation education package I have developed, which you can view bits of over on my site - flightsimsg.org
What's this package I speak of? Aviation is unique in that at a relatively young age, it has connected so many industries, communities and has a reach globally many can only dream of. From the physics behind altimeter settings, to challenging and adrenaline-inducing approaches into short runways - there's just so, so much to explore. You'll see the world differently, with new perspectives, visions, once we pull the curtain aside together. Interested? Visit the site to find out more!
I am always open for contact - leave a comment under one of the videos or drop me an email at contact@flightsimsg.org

A flight on VATSIM (well it's always going to be on VATSIM, what's variable is whether there's other traffic or ATC online) from Canberra to Brisbane. As you can see there appears to be an error in the coding of the approach for some reason which caused an unstable final. With me needing to get the aircraft configured with the mouse while also trying to fly with the same hand, the situation led...

I was searching for videos on how to do the circle for 15 and after watching several tutorials, I have to say, yours explains it the best.

Finally good to see an Australian flight sim channel with popular Australian routes keep it up my friend!
This helped me a lot! I've been so frustrated with my turning rate. Thank you so much!!
How do you record your flights like this? What tool do you use?
Great landing btw I actually went to Zurich this summer!
@@zaidjkhan1 Thanks! I use FlightRecorder which is available for free on flightsim.to - I haven't tried the other free ones but it has worked pretty well for me so far.
@@FlightSimSG alright thanks so much! I’ve been using sim dolly but it doesn’t work as well as I want it to.
I've always wanted to start VATSIM but I don't have any ATC experience. What guides/tutorials do you recommend to get started with VATSIM? Great video btw!
Hi there, I'd probably recommend the series by BritishAvgeek - it seems quite comprehensive and he does cover most of the stuff you'd need to know. Starting out is the hardest part, I still remember hesitating to push that push-to-talk key for the very first time. Once you get over it though, you're in for a new level of immersion in your flying! Don't be afraid to mess up as long as you're putting in reasonable effort to do things right, VATSIM is a pretty forgiving environment and seasoned VATSIMmers mess up all the time too (including myself). I'd say the most helpful tips for a beginner are to go to a controlled but not hyper-busy airport so you can get a sense of how the flow is like. Get a piece of paper to write stuff down and clarify things with the controller if you're unsure. Then just fly your aircraft as you would and follow the controllers' instructions and all will be well. Most important of all, have fun!
@@FlightSimSG Dude, Thank you so much! I'll definitely check out Avgeek. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who was hesitant to start VATSIM.
Not a problem at all, enjoy the journey!
Excuse the typo at 0:22 - it should be language of course
Hello
Hello to you my friend
Going to try this one. I flew this route as a passenger about 25 years ago from the old Bangkok airport on what I think was an ATR-72
Enjoy! I think they still fly ATRs on this route along with the A319s
I fly this route as I live in Samui cool to see this! I fly to.
Wonderful! I visited Samui probably 10 years back and it was (and still is) such a beautiful little island. Great cause you got there with the elephant conservation by the way!
also, please add subtitles like AFP95 does. Minor thing, but increases the overall quality
I would love to, and I tried this on some older videos. But the problem is that they are simply much too time consuming to type out. The software I'm using needs me to fork out 300 USD to get AI subtitles added in, which unfortunately I can't quite afford. I'll see what I can do though. Cheers!
@@FlightSimSGcapcut has free subtitles
Thanks, will check that option out
PEN-SIN please
Alright my friend, I'll have SIA132/131 scheduled for 8am SGT later.
Quality! 😄👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Haha thanks, nowhere near your videos though! Great stuff you got there
My friend, I think you need to look at the charts.... for the correct approach of RW15 VQPR...
My friend, you can rest assured that I indeed have done so prior. But those approaches are not flown in real life by Drukair nor Bhutan Airlines. Those RNAV X Y Z approaches you speak of are so-called cloudbreak procedures and only used when in poor visibility conditions or the ceiling is exceptionally low (less than 5000 feet above the field elevation). In fact, most people I see flying them are doing it wrongly - If you flew the RNAV Z 15 (which is what I assume you're referring to) as called for by the procedure, respecting all the altitude restrictions, you'd find yourself at a ridiculously high altitude way too close to the airport. Which would require an extremely steep descent to get back on profile. Just check out CptCanada's recent Paro stream and you'll see what I mean. The speed runs away really quickly. I'm not going to dictate how you choose to fly in your sim, but if you want to do it right, well, this is the way. Have a look at some real-world cockpit footage for RWY 15 and see for yourself :) Happy landings!
The approach made by the two airlines that operate there is as shown in the video, passing through the vor, over the airport and then starting the curve to the left, making the circuit and then finishing normally, taking the beginning of the hill of track 15 as a reference to pass and start the curve. This is how it is in real life, watch videos
They probably do this because if you do the rnav, you will have to descend a lot and with that the speed increases drastically and there is no room to decrease, this circuit is safer
Beautiful Video man keep up the great work!!
Thank you my friend!
From a Singaporean sim youtuber to another, hello!
Heya my friend! I wouldn't consider myself quite a TH-camr though haha!
Do you plan to be an airline pilot in the future?
Nope, but I do intend to work in the aviation industry :)
Superb and well made video! Liked the info, the charts and the passenger view. Nice nighttime arrival!
@@patrickboulangerplante8239 Thanks, much appreciated
One other thing I forgot to mention - you can deduce the cost index a particular flight will be operating at by looking at the true airspeed (TAS) they have filed - this is the number after the "N0" in the first bit of text under the filed routing section. For example the entry "N0490F360" would mean a planned cruising TAS of 490 knots. Then you can simply generate the flight plan with SimBrief and as long as the routing and initial cruise altitude match, the TAS from SimBrief will be very close to the one in the real-world flight plan if you use the same cost index. A cost index of 6 and 80 will yield very different TASes!
hello mate. interested in a collab? we can a share cockpit flight together and post it!
Hey there! I'm certainly interested, though I've never tried any cockpit sharing software (not sure if my PC can handle it). Would you like to continue this convo over say email? Mine is flightsimsg@gmail.com Cheers!
@@FlightSimSGyea will drop an email to you by tomorrow and we can work on something!
Okay I understand knowing the model, but what is the need of knowing the exact registration number of the plane you are going to be flying in?
A good question. In the Singapore context, not all aircraft of the same model are built equal. For the SQ A350-long haul alone, you've got 2 different seat types and entertainment systems installed on the aircraft in economy, and the only way to tell which one you'll be on is by looking at the registration, which will also give you informaton on the plane's age, history and the likes. If there's an equipment swap you'll also know, such as an upgrade from a 737-800 to a 737 MAX 8. A big deal because the cabin products on these 2 aircraft are very different! Also it's kinda cool to be able to see in advance the operational planning that goes in - for example let's say you just came in from Copenhagen and you see on the iCargo website the corresponding departure flight is to Melbourne, but much later in the day at a different gate. Then you'll know there's probably some maintenance that's going to be performed on the aircraft with it being towed away. Or after arrival on a Scoot flight you if see that the aircraft will depart in 45 minutes for its next sector, then it's probably not a good idea for a cockpit visit. As opposed to this being the last sector of the day which means the pilots will be more free. At the end of the day, it's just nice info for us avgeeks. Cheers.
@@FlightSimSG That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the answer
@@cthomsen4 No problem. Happy to help.
Well as luck would have it SQ720 was delayed by over 2 hours, pushing back from bay F40 at 2034 SGT instead of the scheduled 1830 SGT. We won't know exactly why, but it's likely either a technical issue with 9V-SHE, or some VIP that had to catch this last SQ flight of the day to Bangkok. This messed up the scheduling as SQ719 was expected to block into Singapore at 0035 SGT on the 29th of May. Hence, 9V-SHR will be stepping up to operate SQ612, having earlier arrived from Perth as SQ214 at 2028 SGT on the 28th of May. Nonetheless, the method still works, and the nearer to the departure time you get the less likely you'll see any equipment swaps. I showed the longest "chain" that I could find to illustrate all the possible steps you can take. At any rate, this is still the only way to see the actual aircraft flying the route without going to the airport physically!
0:42 Should have read *0800z* instead of 1600z
