CELTA Teaching Practice TP8 | Test-Teach-Test Vocabulary Lesson

Here's an example of a CELTA Teaching Practice (TP), i.e. a lesson that trainee teachers teach as part of the CELTA course. This lesson was taught by Hilary, who kindly agreed to share this lesson online with other teachers who want to get an idea of what a CELTA lesson is like. Please note that pair work that was done in breakout rooms, sadly, didn't get recorded. This was a 45-minute lesson. ...

Thank you, Daryna. You are a great inspiration for me. I got my CELTA, but it takes a lot of time to get used to a new style of teaching. I like how your techniques are efficient, and even in a digital environment, you use a lot of gestures and facial expressions to reduce your TTT and offer more support to low-level learners, as I think they are harder to teach because you need to choose your words carefully. I look forward to more videos 😊

Is "into" in " to invite (in)to" a particle? I'd say it's a preposition as to invite to somewhere is not really a phrasal verb? Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just a student.
Hi Anna! What a great question 😊 The word ‘into’ in ‘to invite (in)to’ is indeed a preposition. You’re correct that “to invite to/into somewhere” is not a phrasal verb. Instead, it’s a verb (invite) followed by a preposition (to/into), which indicates direction or destination. A particle is typically used in phrasal verbs (e.g. ‘look up’ a word in a dictionary) and often changes the meaning of the base verb in a way that a preposition does not. Good luck ❤

Hello! Fabulous presentation of information!! Great job! I have one problem. Could you please help? How do you find out which words within the sentence are linked in certain way? Is there an app that I can use to help me? I am not a native speaker. I think native speakers would also find it difficult to explain how words are linked. Do it do it all by yourself? Please help.

15 minutes into the lesson and no mentioning of its focus?
