This is just a short talk through my 4.5 years in Africa.
I chose a life of less, modesty, and community. It helped me rid myself of high blood pressure fluctuations, low-level anxiety, and gastric issues. I am in a happy place. I did not inform anyone that I was moving and that was the best decision I made. For some reason, Africa strikes fear in the hearts and minds of Black Americans. My advice to you, if you want to try living anywhere outside of the USA keep it to yourself or confide in a friend who has already moved abroad. If that is not an option find a Facebook group and look at what people are posting and take notes. Not everyone will have the same experiences but it's a start. Look at those who are thriving in their new home from bush life to lux life it all equals happiness in a place where you are appreciated.
