This GOD-TIER ratio trick will CHANGE the way you see averages forever… (part 5)
In the final installment of the GCSE Maths Combined Means video series, we will continue to explore an alternative method to find the mean when two groups are combined. This method promotes a conceptual understanding of combined means, using a mechanical moments-based approach to help students really understand what is going on.
I’ll demonstrate my method again on a different style of problem altogether. Without using my method, I think you might be reduced to trial and error: I encourage you to explore the following-up questions yourself, perhaps with your own method, to really get a feel for this process. Please leave a comment if you find your own solutions to the follow up questions: I am really interested in any other approaches you might have used for this style of problem!
I hope you have enjoyed the series, learnt something new, and perhaps changed the way you visualize averages forever!!
