this is a bad strategy
Great information! Thank you for taking the time to share this insight. We just booked 4 nights. I’m glad you mentioned the cost of the boat transport- I didn’t know about that fee. 🌴
where PowerPoints meets Travel Review - informative though.
are you able to bring a roller bag AND a personal item (backpack) on condor in business class?
Is Condor airlines not Concord. BTW, there are two more washrooms behind the business cabin.
What a great option, I can't wait to take advantage of these types of redemption layovers. What do you think of BILT adding AS as a transfer partner? I applied the day the news broke, though I hope it doesn't do much damage to Alaska miles' value long term.
great help, thanks!
Please say ConDOR not ConCord
I am going this month. Resort is much fuller, so don't think I will get any upgrades. Do you know if taxi there takes credit cards?
Girl its Condor not Concord
Did I say Concord? Lol
how to let others use the FNC? book the room in the app... call the hotline and add your relative's name... agent will confirm that over the phone
Thanks for the tip! I haven't used the IHG app.
thanks
You are welcome!
Hi I've looked at several reviews on the Condor not the Concorde. It's really great when people like yourself take the time to do a review so the other people know what they're getting. However you had no videos at all which totally deflated my interest in watching your content. Perhaps you also had a bad flight because the other reviews talk about really enjoying the food. But next time you decide to do something could you please add live active video to give people a three-dimensional aspect of your experience. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback! I have considered recording videos of my experience vs sharing photos and information. I'll keep your request in mind!
Hm this actually looks really nice but the transportation cost is kind of high
Yep, the transportation cost is high! I also recently read that this particular resort is trying to cut the free breakfast benefit for Hilton Diamond and Gold members. Yikes!
Any chance you remember how much paid upgrade was? Specifically to an overwater room.
In my notes, I wrote down that I was offered an upgrade to the Garden View Pool Villa for $250/night. I can't remember the exact price for an upgrade to an overwater room, but I believe it might have been $300-$400/night. I remember contemplating upgrading to an overwater room for just one night, but ended up deciding against it.
Really enjoy your detailed presentations! Looking forward to your next upload!
Thanks so much!
Once again your video exceeds my expectations. So much useful information!
Aww, thank you! ☺️
Btw: I have had similar experiences with other Conrad resorts regarding the items you mention on the "Negatives". I have Marriot Platinum status and have found it a clear cut above Hilton Diamond.
Thanks for sharing! I have never had Marriott Platinum but I'm considering getting the highest level Amex Marriott credit card so that I can try out Marriott Platinum status.
@wherepointsmeettravel A good pick... I have the Amex Bonvoy Brilliant, and am always acknowledged for status and upgraded without asking - so far😊 Combined with the Marriot business card gives 40 nights/yr, and a shot at Titanium status (75 nts), which I may get this yr.
The main problem I have now is that I have the Marriott Boundless card from Chase, which seems to disqualify me from earning the sign-up bonus for the Amex Marriott cards. I'm looking into canceling that card in order to qualify for the Amex card.
This was very informative, as I have wondered about the value of the experience of a Bora Bora. If the lowest level rooms are that good then wow! I'm willing to try it when/if the occasion merits it. Thanks so much for sharing and the details you provided👍🏾
Glad it was helpful!
thank for the vid small channel but very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Very good points made here👍🏾 I think Amex need to rethink their strategy and move towards exclusivity for the Centurion lounges. It is one of the main value-adds to the Platinum. I think they will lose market share with the status quo of overcrowded lounges and declining standards of service.
Agreed! I appreciate that they are opening more lounges and making them bigger. I just read that a new centurion lounge is opening in Atlanta tomorrow. It is huge and looks gorgeous.
They don’t have a airbus 320-200, they have a airbus 330-200. Big difference
Thank you for catching that typo! I'll have to fix that for the video.
I like the details in the screenshots you captured
Thank you! I'm glad it's helpful!
Here's the advantage of using multiple points currencies.
Yep, exactly! I always hope there's a bonus for the transfer through one of the programs when I am ready to book an award flight.
IHG is the only Chase card I have. Seeing this, there are deals to be had at Chase, especially for those who stay at Hyatt. I was just approved for the Alaska business card, after waiting 3 months for the reconsideration deadline. This card will hep me replace the Amex Business Gold once 4X shipping drops next month. As we shift some loyalty from Delta, this will come in handy, especially after the Hawaiian Airlines acquisition news!
Yes, there are several great cards at Chase that come with high earning and/or benefits!
I value the hotel and digital credits at 100%, so $440. Uber Eats and Walmart+ 50%, $177. Airline Incidentals, 100% so far, but there may be off years, so 66%, $133 Saks 40%, $40 $790 in value - $695 = +$95. FHR, lounge access, 5X on air, 1.1 cpp cash out with Schwab, and all the other perks are cherries on top.
Thanks for the valuation breakdown! I'm curious why you consider the Uber Eats value to be 50%? I find the Uber Eats credit to be very easy to use.
@wherepointsmeettravel I wouldn't typically use it anyways. Plus, we've had a terrible time this year with credits not showing up on our accounts. I have to ask today why we only have $8.33 credit on an account we haven't used in December. June we had $0 on both accounts. May and July, only one. It gets old debating on chat, sometimes they fix it, sometimes I am told to try again next month. Even running smoothly, most restaurants charge extra. If I saw a $200 Uber Eats gift card at Costco, $100 is the most I would pay under the same monthly terms.
Yeah, it is a bit of a pain when the credits don't automatically appear and to have to ask amex to manually apply the credit. Perhaps I'm lucky that most credits are automatic.
@@wherepointsmeettravel This is true for most credits, and I haven't had much problem with Amex either. When it comes to Uber and Uber Eats, the credit is added into their payment system as a credit balance. If that is ever zero, American Express will blame Uber, and Uber will blame Amex. We separated our 2 credits to trying and isolate the problem, but it keeps getting fixed, and reappearing. I do believe the problem is on Uber's end.
Thanks alot for sharing this, as im soon in one of those seats over to Indonesia!
I hope you will enjoy it as much or even more than I did!
The access to all the lounges can be worth it since they have such nice lounges through American Express.
Agreed!
Utilize your notes and calendar on your phone/tablet/laptop/pc/hard copy paper and set a reminder.
I use an excel spreadsheet to keep track. 😂
I just opened a Wells Fargo Autograph card in order to finance a $8200 trip to Singapore and Bali. The perks were: #1 Get 0% interest for 12 months. #2 Spend $1500 in the first 3 months and get $300 (30,000 points) back. Definitely made it easier to travel this year as I only fly business class.
That's an interesting choice of a credit card. I take it you pay cash for business class tickets? I mostly redeem points for international business class.
Wireless charging is unnecessary for me. On my flights I'll typically take that as an opportunity to finalize a very long video in iMovie. My iPhone holds 1TB and I use that flight time to prep the video for upload to TH-cam. A 5 Hour movie can take hours to finalize in 4K. I would more likely plug the phone in USBC while using the USB charger to recharge my portable battery. I definitely wouldn't leave the phone sitting flat on a surface. It is an interesting touch.
It's awesome that you create 4k videos!
I absolutely HATE Boeing. Once you've flown on the A350 and the A380 in business class, you would too. Emirates has absolutely spoiled me.
I have yet to fly on an A380 but would really love to. It's definitely on my list. I do find airbus planes to be less noisy than Boeing.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I'll be flying on the upgraded 777-300 business class from Bali to Singapore. I HATE the 2/2/2 configuration. I was searching for a video that showed the 1/2/1 configuration. I couldn't understand based on the app check in how large the galley and bathroom areas were. I don't want to sit near either.
Happy to help!
Audible is gone already unfortunately
Yes. It was disappointing to see the Audible credit be replaced by a credit for The Wall Street Journal. 🙁 I think the card is still worth it, though. I'll have to make a new video with the updates. 🙂
Oh great, now everybody is going to know about Tallinn! Estonia is beautiful though.
Don't worry! I don't have enough of a following to make that much of a dent on tourism for Tallinn. 😋
@@wherepointsmeettravel For now at least. I'm sure more will find you in time.
Even at $1,200, that's not bad value. $1,152 / 55K = 2.1 cents per mile. Time to start shifting towards Alaska! I got declined for their business card, but have another 6 weeks for their reconsideration line.
Good luck with your business card application! I have gotten a lot of great value redeeming Alaska miles for international business class tickets. Just a heads up that Alaska is changing the number of miles needed for some award travel starting in 2024. The changes aren't super significant in my opinion but it's still good to be aware.
I've flown Condor in business class several times (although in their old planes with the 2-2-2 layout and seated that stayed slightly angled). You're definitely right about the delays. I was always really impressed by the service and the food though.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I'm sure glad they updated their business class to lie-flat seats and 1-2-1 seating! I thought on-time performance is an important measure for airlines, so I wonder why Condor experiences delays so often...
Keeping mine. In fact, I'm going to use the Aspire for restaurants, and add general spend up to $30K. I've done the math, and we come out ahead over the Amex Gold, without the need to bother with Grubhub and Uber credits. We have a Hilton timeshare, so won't have to even worry about the 2nd half of the year, the resort credits will zap our fees automatically. I should be able to use 75% of the airline credits naturally. After 2 years, signs bonuses on the Aspire and Business, I'm down to 10,000 points as of yesterday (booked 5 nights in Tokyo). Time to start spending on both cards!
That's great that you'll be able to take advantage of the extra free night certificate with $30k of spending. The free night certificates can be so valuable!
@@wherepointsmeettravel It always helps to have a business credit card to "accidentally" put a big charge on or two. I probably wouldn't do it for 3X earning on the entire $30K allotment, but 7X on 33%+ of it for restaurants , plus air and hotel charges. I tend to use the Aspire as my primary card for Amex offers as well.
I'm on the fence about keeping the Aspire card. I find it a bit of a nuisance to track $50 flight related purchases. I also have questions about the value of Diamond status - if everyone has it. The perks seem to be left to the discretion of the hotel with the exception of the breakfast credit. Having to ask & negotiate for late checkouts or rm upgrades also devalues the status. I currently experimenting with both the Aspire and the Brilliant... the jury is still out😎 Thanks for the updates👍🏾
Yes, keeping track of credits, especially ones that are more frequent than once per year, can be a pain. I have had some luck with upgrades and have been pretty consistently getting late checkout on the occasions that I ask. I have been wanting to experiment with the Brilliant card too, but was told I didn't qualify for the sign-up bonus. I will keep trying, in case my qualification changes.
Great breakdown! I'm highly considering applying for this card by the end of the year. I have a similar valuation as you. I don't think I'll be staying at 2 Hilton Resorts per year consistently.
Thank you! At least the other benefits will be easier to use to help offset the annual fee.
@@wherepointsmeettravelDo you have a referral link? Will be happy to use it if I end up applying for the card soon
@@LK_EBM Sure, thank you! Here's my referral link: americanexpress.com/en-us/referral/AaRONRc1ub?xl=cp01
Best hotel credit card on the market
Agreed!
They can be ok sometimes. Most cards have a 2 or 4 year cooldown so after year one you could upgrade and get some points if the offer is decent.
True about the cool down, but the 2-4 years of potential opportunity cost is there. Who knows what the sign-up bonuses will be in 2-4 years and how much the points might de-value. If the upgrade offer is good, it can certainly be considered. But 5000 points is quite low.
Wow, almost worth doing just for the double dip!
One can only do the double dip if one already had the card before October 19th, 2023, which was when the new benefits change happened. Definitely don't apply for the card now with the plan to double dip. You can still apply for the card for the sign-up bonus and the regular benefits that come with it. But don't want you to be disappointed not being able to double dip with a new card application. 🙂
5,000 points, holy smokes! Chase is my primary bank, and I have the IHG card, but I'm not generally a fan. I had a chargeback on the Ink Premier, and they chopped it up into pieces, partially sided with the vendor, without allowing me to submit proof. They claimed that they made a mistake, and it had become confusing mess, but there was not much more that they could do. I've had up to $30,000 charges, so that's too scary for me.
Oh wow, that does sound terrible! I'm sorry to hear that you had that issue with Chase. Yeah, 5000 bonus points for a product upgrade is pretty laughable.
Can you upgrade the same way for a paid fare?
Not exactly. I have found that sometimes you can get a less expensive upgrade on a paid fare when you modify a booking rather than accepting the paid upgrade offer on a paid fare. Check out this video for an example: th-cam.com/video/POg37oPVS6c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oacpSwK_10pIzJqF
It ended up working for me for the new $50 and part of the new $250
When you say part of the new $250, are you referring to the "old" airline benefit of $250? If yes, I'm glad it's working for you, as well!
My badd, yes the old airline benefit.
So if I get the Aspire (currently don't have it) I won't be able to double dip with the old benefits and the new?
Unfortunately, no, I don't think so. ☹️. The terms and conditions specifically state that the old benefit is only for those who were approved for the card prior to 10/19/2023.
ah gotcha@@wherepointsmeettravel
Oh my god. This is more like a powerpoint slides presentation
Yep! That's how I roll. =)
American should implement this 😭
It is pretty awesome!
My language for platinum airline incidental fee credit says it does not cover upgrades and I've selected DELTA. I'll try it if I'm offered an upgrade.
The language for my card's benefits state that, too, which was why I was surprised when it was reimbursed. It probably worked for me because the price of the upgrade was low. I hope it works for you, too!
