For those new commenters, you have to understand the concept of what is and what has happened to these animals. In order to be around elephants safely, they need to go through a training method called the crush or pajaan. This means of training consists of inhumane beatings where baby elephants are torn from their mothers at the age of two. While elephants feel most of our emotions, this is as devastating for both elephants. It is no different from a human child being stolen from their moms. Elephants are extremely intelligent and social animals that not only have the same emotions we do, they mourn their dead and sometimes they attempt to bury them and other small animals. The training is when they are shoved in a bamboo cage and tied and chained up by all limbs, trunks, and tails, and being pulled in all directions while being beaten with the bull hooks, and shock with electric prods, and sticks. They cry and struggle to escape this torcher chamber, where they can remain for up to a month. They are hit very hard on the top of their heads and other sensitive areas on their bodies. They are deprived of food, water, and sleep through this method of training and even urinating blood. Some even die. When the babies' spirits are broken it's time to throw them into the world of tourism. Before you go anywhere that uses animals, please do some research. There are a lot of elephant parks in Thailand that will use the word 'Sanctuary' when they in fact are not. Sanctuaries forbid riding, bathing, or doing tricks. These elephants are the result of abused animals like these and let them just be elephants, and live like nature has intended for them. They get to be social and bond with other elephants and have babies if they choose to do so . They create new families and are loving freedom. I know it sounds boring to not have elephants in circuses. riding doing all sorts of tricks, but we must respect them and let them be happy for the first time of their lives. Is this really what you want your money to go into? Places like this take your money to create more animals to enslave. I hope this helps and God Bless!
